SmackDown! Spoilers for 03/08/08

Didn't see the spoilers for this weeks SmackDown listed anywhere yet, so I figured I'd post them.

WWE SmackDown Taping Results *Spoilers*

Date Added: March 04, 2008

Story By: Ryan Gray

Credit: WrestlingNewsWorld.com:

WWE taped this week’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown from the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. They taped ECW on Sci-Fi earlier in the night. Below are pre-show notes and match results from this week's tapings. I apologize for the lack of detail as we were not given a lot of information but at least we have results.

Pre-Show Notes:

- They are having an ice storm in Cleveland right now, so it might be causing some transportation problems. Our correspondent arrived several minutes late.

- According to our correspondent, the arena is 70% full. Again, attendance could be effected by the severe weather.

Dark Match:

Kofi Kingston def. Kevin Thorn

WWE SmackDown (Air Date 3/07):

The show opens with the Cutting Edge segment with Ric Flair as Edge's guest. Flair talks trash to Edge and calls his relationship with Vickie Guerrero a sham. Eventually Flair slaps Edge and Vickie Guerrero breaks up the fight.

Jesse, Festus, & CM Punk def. Chavo Guerrero, The Miz, & John Morrision

Festus hit his finisher on The Miz to pick up the victory.

A backstage vignette airs with Jamie Noble and Michelle McCool.

It is announced that Undertaker will face Edge, Zack Ryder, and Curt Hawkins later tonight.

Shannon Moore def. Deuce

Jimmy Wang Yang came out with Moore while Domino was with Deuce. Moore won the match via pinfall after he hit a superkick on Deuce.

US Champion MVP def. Batista to retain

The match was in and out of the ring. MVP picked up the victory when Batista was counted out.

Backstage segment with Jamie Noble. He says that he wants to face Chuck Palumbo, however, Palumbo is set to go against Kane tonight. Noble will face Big Show.

It was confirmed that television personality Kim Kardashian will be a guest at WrestleMania XXIV.

A WWE Diva swimsuit competition is next. Featured are Eve Torres, Maryse, Victoria, Michelle McCool, and Cherry. It is announced that one diva will be voted off each week as fans will be able to vote through text messages. During the segment, Victoria fell off the middle turnbuckle.

Kane def. Chuck Palumbo

I was told it was pretty much a squash with Palumbo walking right into Kane's chokeslam. Kane got the pinfall for the victory.

Big Show def. Jamie Noble

Noble got himself disqualified by hitting a low blow on Big Show. Big Show retaliated with a severe beat down that resulted on Noble being busted open. He gets on the mic and taunts Floyd Mayweather.

World Heavyweight Champion Edge, Zack Ryder, & Curt Hawkins defeat The Undertaker.

The only information that I got from the match was that Ryder, Hawkins, and Edge won the bought after Edge hit a Spear. It was given a significant amount of time.

It's officially too late for Matt Hardy to return now if they want to come close to getting that back to where it was. I'd rather see MVP be in a regular match then put in a spot fest which doesn't really suit him.

I'm really disappointed in the UT/Edge sell. Luckily, they still have 4 more shows (including the special Raw) to make up for it but with Edge getting involved in a pointless side angle with Flair, I'm not holding my breath.

This makes no sense. They've spent the better part of a month building up Chuck as a heel, only to get squashed by Kane?

I'm not sure what is up with SD of late but it hasn't been too great. Watching it I get the feeling they have a good initial idea with some feuds or angles (Edge/Vicki, Noble/Palumbo/McCool) but these things just tend to fizzle out.

I was at the tapings. Nothing particularly noteworthy outside of what was posted in the spoilers. Noble got FUBAR'd pretty good with some body blows, but what was even more impressive was the work by the ring crew after that segment. Noble did the "bleeding from the mouth because of 'internal injuries'" bit, and as soon as the ring was cleared, the crew came out, untied the mat, rolled it up, peeled off a tarp underneath and - presto! - they had a clean mat already in place, ready to go.

As this was the first time I had attended a Smackdown taping (I've been to more Raws than I can count), I was also impressed with how quickly they got the ring changed over before Smackdown started. Changing the ropes and apron took less than 10 minutes. That crew does some solid work.

Pay attention to the 10 count during the Batista-MVP match. The referee took forever to get to 7, then magically threw it into overdrive when MVP got in the ring. Weak.

Can't remember which match it is, but one of the refs does the "Tommy Young slide under the ropes to the floor to be in position to count a pin attempt." Love that spot.

Kane's "wall of fire" on the new set is bad-ass.

Saying the arena was 70 percent full is a little generous, tho I was surprised at how many people were there. The ice storm that hit in the hours leading up to the show was awful, and the freeways here were a disaster. Lower 2 decks of the building were pretty close to full, as was most of the upper deck opposite the main camera. In other words, pretty close to what they had when Raw was here in October.

Probably not a good sign for the show when the most interesting stuff is everything but the angles and action in the ring, but for the price of my ticket (free), I won't complain. Not a bad way to spend a Tuesday night.

Punk's post-match reaction to Festus was pretty funny.

Is Noble a face or is he still playing a heel? This backstage skit isn't very clear. Plus, why the hell would Jaime get the shit beaten out of him for Michelle just to turn around and dump her? I guess we're just supposed to write it off to "dumb redneck".

At least they had some closure involved.

And I must say I marked for the 2nd backstage segment done in front of the Brad Daugherty mural (the 1st was the Kofi/Kelly/Layla segment on ECW).

When did Noble dump Michelle" What did he say to her?

Hmm... NHB rematch for the US title next week. Matt screws over Batista so he can beat MVP himself?

Probably Umaga makes an appearance costing Batista the match, though Hardy showing up wouldn't surprise me as well. I think having both show up and have the match become a big mess would be interesting. Have Umaga jump Batista on the ramp having both brawl as MVP stands in the ring only to have Matt Hardy enter from the crowd and jump him.
