Darth Pipes 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2008 All month Flair, plus Harley Race as the Hall of Fame profile=Greatest month on WWE 24/7 ever! Those Flair TV highlights I'm looking forward to...Flair on Mid-Alantic TV, Flair vs Gordy in Texas, first Prime Time with Flair, and the last televised match between Flair and Steamboat on WCW Saturday Night. Agreed, plus we get the much talked about Roundtable show that features Flair, two house shows from the late '91/early '92 period, and outside of Flair... the Raw from MSG with the debut of Cactus Jack (Set-up wonderfully by the first interview with all 3 faces of Foley) and the Nitro featuring Goldberg's debut for historical purposes. zappafrank 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2008 I wonder if they'll leave the Bookerman comment in for Superbrawl VI. WCW edited it out on the home video version. And re: WCW editing (not the clipping that all the 80's/early 90's stuff suffered): on the BatB 96 home video, they edited out the kid running into the ring at the very end and Hall stomping him. I didn't even know that existed till I read about it somewhere and was able to see it on the WWE Back in Black DVD.

JHawk 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2008 Storm's real name was Jeff Warner, and he got decent pushes in Minnesota indies before a brief WCW run. Never knew he had any WWE appearances. Saw him in WCW live at a house show against Mike Rotundo, notable only for me and my brother being the only ones in the building cheering him. Every time the ref would ask if he cheated, he'd have the referee ask us, and we'd say no.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2008 Plus, WCW Saturday Night presents a thrilling chapter in a classic rivalry when Flair and Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat battle for the WCW Championship in 1994 Meltzer was saying that match should have been on the Flair DVD instead of Spring Stampede 94, plus hey, it's a 90s WCWSN! I REALLY hope the other big one is Starrcade 93 - that would be tremendous. I figured the Old School shows would be 91/92 MSG shows and that's good since those are the characters I know from a nostalgia point of view. Shawn and Bret have their work cut out for them on those shows. I wonder if they'll leave the Bookerman comment in for Superbrawl VI. WCW edited it out on the home video version The master version is almost always the one 24/7 airs, though I do notice the WCW PPVs often open with "Turner Home Entertainment", making me think it's from the home video, but I guess not. We'll find out soon. You'd think they'd just do the HOF profile on Flair, but I guess that would be overkill.
Darth Pipes 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2008 I saw that Flair/Steamboat match when it first aired and it was a damned good one. The WCW title was held-up after Spring Stampede (although it never counted as another Ric Flair title reign in the end) and they went about thirty-six minutes. I'm surprised about the lack of Ric Flair HOF profile but hey, it's Harley. Harley's awesome.

Shawn and Bret have their work cut out for them on those shows. Shawn Vs Virgil from MSG is on a Coliseum Video (Rampage '92 or something like that I think). It's an OK match but kind of blah. To be honest, I don't think Michaels really became a good singles worker until his Intercontinental title run.
Darth Pipes 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2008 Yeah, Shawn wasn't quite Shawn yet. Even his long-awaited showdown with Curt Hennig at Summerslam 93 was a disappointment.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2008 Dig all those typos on the program guide. It's getting pretty funny. Nitro: Curt 'Henning', Juventud 'Guerrero', Eddie Guerrero vs. 'Ultimate Drago' (Vladimir Kozlov?) for the 'Cruiserweigh' title. Raw: Steve Austin creates 'chaso'. SummerSlam 99: "Triple Threat match for WWE Championship pits Triple H vs Stone Cold Steve Austin" (I think someone's missing!) "plus 'moany' more". Next month's preview also reveals the 2008 HOF is airing next month.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2008 I'll have to check out that SuperBrawl 96 PPV. I've never really seen any of it, but I have to admit the main event at least sounds interesting. WCW was weird in that pre NWO era of Nitro, since they would have some good serious action on one hand, but then have the Dungeon of Doom trash as well. DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2008 Sure is a lot of Flair promos. No interest in Rumble 92 (I have i on VHS, DVD, plus the Rumble match on Flair's DVD) but a good Flair based show for anyone without it. Going by Cawthon's site, there is no September 1, 1991 Primetime (guessing a Tennis delay?) but 9/9/91 exists with Flair's debut.
