CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2008 And that's exactly what would happen were college football to develop a playoff system. You substitute one problem for another. It's a lot easier to tune out someone arguing about who the eighth best team is than who the second best team is, though.
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2008 I oppose any expansion because the tournament as it stands is the best-organized and most satisfying playoff any any league. Three consecutive weekends, each pretty unique. The first is absolute saturation, with endless games and a whopping 3/4 of the field eliminated right off the bat. The second weekend yields some of the best matchups of the college basketball season, and you can watch every one of them. The third weekend is the culmination of it all and all three days have a sort of Super Bowl-esque hysteria about them. I think stretching it out much longer could put it dangerously close to exceeding most people's attention spans, though. Edit: I wonder if Morrison's look for the day was a pre-planned Good Friday costume. He nailed it.

naiwf 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2008 Tim Brando had no idea what was going on at the end of regulation of this SD/UConn game. With SD up 3, Brando doesn't realize that if the shooter makes this one UConn is down by 4 with ~30 seconds left. Luckily for him, the kid misses the back end of a 1 and 1, but Brando says UConn can tie with a 2 and go for the win with a three which of course they can't do. UConn gets a lay-up where SD plays no defense at all, but Brando's still lost as he claims it's tied, and doesn't realize he was wrong until after a break. Next possession, SD's up 1 now and UConn fouls again. The same guy makes the first prompting Brando to say that this is the same situation as before when it's not because even if he makes 'em both it's only a one possession game. He misses the 2nd and Brando is still confused about the score. The fact that Gminski didn't help him out, or someone didn't get in his earpiece and straighten him out is just bush league for the end of an NCAA tourney game. Hopefully he can redeem himself in OT since he completely screwed up the end of regulation sequence.
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2008 Yeah I never got why color commentators don't say anything when his partner screws up. He sounds like a freaking retard and all he had to do was say "Actually it's a 3 point game".

Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2008 A buzzer beater and a 13 over 4 in one afternoon. I am officially content with the first weekend of the tournament already.

EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2008 Fair to say that nobody's bracket was busted by these two losses. After all, I'm sure that everyone picked both losers to win. I actually picked Western Kentucky to win. I'm really regretting not taking UCLA further though.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2008 I certainly had WKU winning but I have mentioned in the past on here that my parents went to WKU so I flat out had to pick them. Hell, my dad has them in the FF, haha. He had them vs. UCLA in the Sweet 16 and stunned me by picking Western to win that, then beat WVU in the Elite 8. Man, I'm glad WKU somehow won that game though. It was justice prevailing since the officiating was unbelievable in that game. Drake had to have a FT advantage of 40 attempts to 10 or so for WKU. Add that to the no call on the grabbing of the rim, or the horrendous change call on WKU in the last 20 seconds and I was at wit's end. Now WKU has San Diego, the UK and UConn slayers. I'd enjoy seeing UCLA vs. WKU in the Sweet 16. That would have been a dream game....in 1971.
