Yes it is. If you're not immersed in the local coverage of the team, or around many fellow fans, it'll never be the same. Of course, you're a Mets fan in Jacksonville, so that's different, but I mean adopting a team that isn't in proximity to you at all nor of any relevance to your family. That's just cherry-picking.

 

This is true, but I couldn't root for the Seahawks over the Packers. Or just in general, really. However, I had no problem switching from the Lakers to the Blazers. I think it might also have something to do with how much you might dislike the local franchise. I hated the fuckin' Heat, for example. I think the rules are a bit different when there's no local team to support (such as football in L.A. or every sports besides basketball in Portland)

I can't imagine myself rooting for another team unless I move to Phoenix. Then I'd root for the Suns and Knicks (probably cause the Knicks suck right now). For baseball and football though, I'd find it tough to root for other teams.

Why do the esteemed members of the Pit insist that the only thing you're capable of is googling (what a verb!) baseball "stats"? How do you feel about this?

It's silly. Who doesn't look up baseball stats when they need them? Is there something inherently bad about looking up statistics? Does it imply that I only seem smart about baseball because I repeat shit I read? I think anyone who talks to me about baseball (especially in person) realizes I know way too much for my own good, and most of it really isn't statistics.

I'm not. Quite frankly, I don't think I would have it in me to shoot another person. I live in a fairly quiet residential neighborhood, so I'm never threatened.

Undecided, leaning towards Barack Obama. I won't get into the political reasons much because I don't feel strongly, and this thread will no doubt balloon if I do. I am not terribly impressed with any of the candidates.

He started with the Bucks for 4 years, then went to the Sonics for another 5 I think, Celtics and had a cup of coffee with the Knicks. He was one of those guys that was supposed to be huge (went to a few all star games) but let personal demons hamper his career. I think he's still active, but not with a team at the moment.
