Wrestlemania XXIV Discussion Thread

Smarter move would be to have a run-in to get somebody over with Show and start a feud with that (maybe he hits Show low and drops him to a knee, giving Mayweather the chance to hit him in the face), rather than just knocking Show out when there's no possibility of a rematch.

That said, I wouldn't be opposed to Mayweather channeling Little Mac and unloading a leaping uppercut to knock Show down.

That has been the consensus belief throughout the entire build up (during a staged brawl between Mayweather's entourage and other WWE wrestlers). The debate has generally centered around whom that person would be, often boiling down to MVP, Kennedy and Jericho.

Unfortunately, the only guy I could realistically see doing a run-in on Show at this point is Orton, and that would be horribly dull.

EDIT - Possibly Jericho too I guess given the angle they did with them on Raw weeks ago.

I am visiting with friends and family this weekend. I chose this weekend, specifically, because of WrestleMania. I moved several hours away last summer, but I'll be damned if I am going to miss out on tradition. I make a bigger deal out of WrestleMania than I do with my own birthday.

More news on the Mayweather/Show match courtesy of Mayweather himself on some BET show today....

- The match is "No Holds Barred"

- Mayweather did a hard sell saying it will be crazy and wild. When asked if 50 Cent would be there he said its possible and anyone could be there (on a side note, if 50 Cent IS there, that's silly that they haven't really advertised that much).

- Mayweather reiterated that he and Show can do what they want in this match (I dont know if thats a hint at parts of it being shoot or what?).

Man, HBK/Flair has a lot of potential to be good/great as long as Michaels doesn't go into his retarded mode. But this is Mania, and he's good about not doing it so I shouldn't have any worries.

Retarded mode?

No it's a certain type of thing where Michaels sort of "tries" to hard to have a classic, and usually ends up looking shitty by putting too much on himself. It hasn't happened in a LONG while though, so it's sort of just a minor worry.

And the only way I wanna see Show/Mayweather end is in a wild brawl outside the ring, MVP comes in, takes Show out with the MITB briefcase or a chair and Mayweather do a one foot pin.

Matches I'm looking forward to:

Edge / Undertaker

Michaels / Flair

MITB IV

Finlay / Layfield

I made this thought in the WrestleMania Predictions thread but...

Am I the only one that can see Matt Hardy making a surprise return to cost MVP the Money in the Bank match...

Or even be a surprise entrant into that match? Because...and I know it's because Jeff F'd up...7 seems like a strange number for that match.

A couple maybe stupid questions...

What time does it start?

What time does it run until?

If I start watching at 9 EST (when I'll be home from work) How many matches will I miss, and which ones will they likely be?

I was wondering that/hoping that too. I think also because as it stands right now there are 2 faces and 5 heels and MVP is the sole Smackdown guy in the match. 3 RAW (Jericho/Carlito/Kennedy), 3 ECW (Morrison/Punk/Benjamin) and then MVP. I guess maybe Shelton is being pushed as somewhat of a face going into this now because of the match on ECW Tuesday (he didn't do any of his cocky stuff this week really and played face against Carlito) and the fact people are gonna pop for whatever crazy thing he does this year.

It starts at 7...so you'd miss half the show. (actually more than becuase they'll usually go off the air with 20 minutes to go of air time) But there's a replay right after that you should get when you order it.

As for matches...hard to say exactly...but I'd bet that the ECW title match, money in the bank and JBL/Finlay are the first 3 matches in whatever order they do it in.

Edge Vs. Undertaker has been the worst booked main event feud since Jericho Vs. HHH

Worse than HHH-Orton from '04? Or, if we're talking strictly WrestleMania, it can't be worse than HHH-Booker, right?

The build for Undertaker and Edge has been an absolute disappointment. It started off very well, all the way back to last spring during that period when both Kennedy and Undertaker were forced to be written off the show. The set up for this match was made right there and they should have kept it going. Edge’s return at Survivor Series was done superbly and showed signs that they would have a tremendous march to WM.

In typical WWE fashion, they blew it. It isn’t as disastrous as the HHH/Jericho and HHH/Booker WM builds because neither is hurt from it. The biggest problem with this match is that it has been loaded with the complete collection of Undertaker feud cliches. From spooky lighting effects, the traditional casket segment and the cowardly heel hiding behind his cronies. Everything has just been meandering with the lone saving grace coming in the probability of a pretty good match. The WWE Title, predictably has been built fairly well enough even if most people here are turned off by all possible results. Poor booking has plagued the entire Wrestlemania card. It’s saved by the strength of the quality that were likely to see and the unique spectacle that will be offered from the venue as well as the curiosity factor with Mayweather.

Well, my order is in.

Now to play the waiting game.

Not to mention the curiosity factor with the weather period.

Anybody vs Undertaker sucks because A]Every big feud with the Undertaker is basically the same and B]Undertaker isn't going to lose at WM.

Yeah, every match with Taker, especially those at WM, sure have sucked a big dong. :bonk:

There is a ramp set up, and the ring is not that far from the ramp. They needed the carts at X-Seven, but it doesn't look like it here.

From Meltzer:

Word from Orlando is that WWE is heavily papering the city for the last 5,000 to 7,000 or so seats that haven't been sold or given away up to this point. It would be the first time Wrestlemania has had to be papered on the last few days since 1992 or 1993
