Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2008 While I'm not sure if we'll even get to my pick over the weekend, I want to give y'all the caveat in advance regardless ... I don't have internet access on weekends and thus if my pick comes up, I'll probably be unable to make my selection before Monday. I'll try to get online at some point between now & then to limit the down-time, but I rarely go online on the weekends so can't guarantee anything. You should PM CanadianGuitarist your picks just in case...

I'll try to get online at some point between now & then to limit the down-time, but I rarely go online on the weekends so can't guarantee anything. You should PM CanadianGuitarist your picks just in case... Yeah, I considered that ... but it would have to be "my top choice is __, but if he's gone I'll take ___ and if he's gone I'll take ____". And I'm not sure how thrilled I'd be to 'show my hand' about who I was interested in, to someone else in the draft. It wouldn't make a big difference this weekend, because 1) I have two picks before CG has any & 2) at this point we're still picking the best players in league history. But when we get to the mid-100s (for example) there might be a diamond in the rough that I have in mind, that I'd be averse to sharing. EDIT: And since he's reading the thread right now, I'll just say that I don't trust CG, even though it's not true.
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2008 Agreed. Pre-rank five guys for me, and pm 'em to me. I'll pick from that list for you if you can't get online; thanks for the heads-up, I'm sure you can get some kind of amnesty if need be, having given me some notice. Then again, it may not be an issue at all - there's still four draftors in front of you. TakerHart, who ya got? Oh yeah, excellent pic of Howe, Angle. the max 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2008 niskie, send them to me. I'm not in this thing so I don't have a decided interest. And I'm always online because I have no life.
Zetterberg is God 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2008 I could be wrong but isn't UndertakerHart before you 909? He hasn't picked yet so Orr could go to him if he so desires.
Guest Report post Posted May 17, 2008 Yeah, he's before me. I got confused. I'll delete my post.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2008 Well you both cheer for the same shitty hockey team... For the longest time I thought UndertakerHart was 909 a few times because of the AV.
Prophet of Mike Zagurski 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2008 I'm going to switch avatars soon. I'll choose the Red Wings so I can jump on that bandwagon. Since so far the majority of the picks have been centers I want to continue the tradition. I choose: Mark Messier. I believe he is 3rd of all time in points. He captained two teams to the Stanley Cup. His number is retired in New York and Edmonton. I don't know what else to say. Also, he never ever played in Vancouver...never. CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2008 OK, 909, NOW you can take Orr. I can't believe I was debating taking Orr first, and he ends up going sixth.
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2008 OK, 909, NOW you can take Orr. I can't believe I was debating taking Orr first, and he ends up going sixth. That really is hard to believe isn't it? I remember saying in grade ten (! - 1999) that 1-2-3 all-time were Gretz, Orr, Howe. But 4-5? Didn't see that coming. CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2008 I'm really drunk, so I don't know who picked whom at this point - especially if the pickers didn't either. Nskie sent me his picks, so continue on. I also have no problem making Max #16 if he wants to sneak his way in. Edit: I guess Max is picking for Nskie. I dunno now.

the max 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2008 On behalf of Niskie and the [Team Name], we would like to thank [insert City] for their hospitality during draft week. With the ninth pick, we are proud to select: Ken Dryden, the Four-Story Goalie. As comedian Nick DiPaulo, a lifelong Boston Bruins fan once said, "Ken Dryden ruined my childhood." CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2008 Dammit, I was hoping both the Rocket and Dryden could be my sleeper picks. I was probably being greedy.
