The NHL all-time draft

Recommended Posts

Another for the "if only they were healthy" set!

050113_islanders2.jpg

Zigmund Palffy, W

Four-time All Star

713 points in 684 games (out of a possible 984 games, the hobbled jerk)

Hilarious name

Andy_Bathgate.jpg

973 points in the NHL, another 229 in the WHL.

Hart Trophy AND WHL MVP

Stanley Cup AND Lester Patrick Cup winner

Hall of Fame class of 78

58th best player of all time according to The Hockey News

Hits Jaques Plante in the face with pucks, which will come in handy when Clorox Leetch plays Gordie's Gang.

Part of perhaps the most insane trade of all time, involving I believe 23 players (wiki doesn't say).

Andy God Damn Bathgate

...and I exhale.

Great job getting the Gorton's jersey for Palffy.

And somehow getting Daniel Day Lewis to pose for that picture.

I really couldn't decide if this player was worth picking now, but I really need a 4th defensemen, and since we're going by "the player at his best & healthiest", I figure it's tough to pass on a defensemen that scored 34 goals in a season (and I think he added another 45 assists or so that year).

The Northern Lights Five are proud to select Kevin Hatcher, defensemen, to the organization.

I need a coach. With my 12th? pick in the NHL Draft I select:

Glen Sather/Coach

Also I am accepting names for my team. I just am not that creative right now.

Top of my list survived, and though I'm re-thinking it to a degree, I'm striking while the iron is hot. I have a tough guy who can score, but I need a prick who can score. We'll see Ulf-Neely later on, and now 909 has a reason to hate me. My pick has a Conn Smythe trophy, and won Cups with three different teams.

Gentlemen, my pick is Claude Fucking Lemieux!

Time is up, I shall pick.

I'm going to finish off my defence right now with my third pairing:

JC.jpg

J.C. Tremblay, D

Five Cups with the Canadiens, and then an Avco World Trophy as the leader of the Nordiques.

Charlie Huddy, D

Five Cups as one of the anchors of the Oiler D.

I'm sure there's probably a better pick that I could make here but this guy's two way play and ridiculous skill make him a good fit for my third line:

datsyuk_pavel_194x270.jpg

Pavel Datsyuk, C

129 goals

286 assists

425 points

Two Stanley Cup championships

Two time All Star

Selke Trophy winner, 2008

Three consecutive Lady Byng Trophies (2006-2008)

Olympic Bronze medalist, 2002

DAMMIT!!! You stole Pav from me. I was all excited about an Yzerman-Zetterberg-Datsyuk line. :(

Heh, figured if I can't get Hank I'll at least take his partner in crime. I also thought he wouldn't be around when it came back to me so I had to pull the trigger now.

You're damn right he wouldn't have been. I knew I should've taken him and taken my chances on Nilsson.

It's been well over 24 hours (meaning 909 and Gert are skipped) so I guess I can pick...
