JJ Johnson Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 Another for the "if only they were healthy" set! Zigmund Palffy, W Four-time All Star 713 points in 684 games (out of a possible 984 games, the hobbled jerk) Hilarious name
Smartly Pretty Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 973 points in the NHL, another 229 in the WHL. Hart Trophy AND WHL MVP Stanley Cup AND Lester Patrick Cup winner Hall of Fame class of 78 58th best player of all time according to The Hockey News Hits Jaques Plante in the face with pucks, which will come in handy when Clorox Leetch plays Gordie's Gang. Part of perhaps the most insane trade of all time, involving I believe 23 players (wiki doesn't say). Andy God Damn Bathgate ...and I exhale.
the max Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 Great job getting the Gorton's jersey for Palffy. And somehow getting Daniel Day Lewis to pose for that picture.
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 I decided that my team's name will be Five for Fighting.
nl5xsk1 Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 I really couldn't decide if this player was worth picking now, but I really need a 4th defensemen, and since we're going by "the player at his best & healthiest", I figure it's tough to pass on a defensemen that scored 34 goals in a season (and I think he added another 45 assists or so that year). The Northern Lights Five are proud to select Kevin Hatcher, defensemen, to the organization.
MFer Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 Can't believe this guy is still available, but I guess he is so... Norm Ullman 11-time NHL All-Star 1965 NHL All-Star 1st Team 1967 NHL All-Star 2nd Team 490 goals 739 assists 1229 points #90 on The Hockey News list of 100 Greatest Hockey Players
Gert T Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 I need a coach. With my 12th? pick in the NHL Draft I select: GlenS.bmp Glen Sather/Coach Also I am accepting names for my team. I just am not that creative right now.
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 Glen Sather was my first choice for coach. Good pick.
the max Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 I named my team 'The Excitable Boys' on the last page.
Guest Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 I guess I'll take soon to be Hall of Famer Igor Larionov.
Smartly Pretty Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 Babe Pratt's a defensemen, CG. On the first page you have him as a forward.
Zetterberg is God Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 Damn it, figured I might get Larionov.
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 My next pick: D for Derian Hatcher
Zetterberg is God Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 My second line is complete with the following pick: Yvan Cournoyer, RW 428 goals 435 assists 863 points 10 Stanley Cup championships Conn Smythe Trophy winner, 1973 Member of Team Canada for the 1972 Summit Series Hall of Fame inductee, 1982
CanadianGuitarist Posted June 19, 2008 Author Report Posted June 19, 2008 Top of my list survived, and though I'm re-thinking it to a degree, I'm striking while the iron is hot. I have a tough guy who can score, but I need a prick who can score. We'll see Ulf-Neely later on, and now 909 has a reason to hate me. My pick has a Conn Smythe trophy, and won Cups with three different teams. Gentlemen, my pick is Claude Fucking Lemieux! Pick, EMHE.
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted June 19, 2008 Report Posted June 19, 2008 I wanted Lemieux. Then everyone would have hated my team. I would have had a blatant goon and 5 time Stanley Cup champion instigator.
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin Posted June 19, 2008 Report Posted June 19, 2008 FUCK! Lemieux was my next pick.
CanadianChris Posted June 19, 2008 Report Posted June 19, 2008 FUCK! Lemieux was my next pick. No he wasn't.
CanadianChris Posted June 19, 2008 Report Posted June 19, 2008 Time is up, I shall pick. I'm going to finish off my defence right now with my third pairing: J.C. Tremblay, D Five Cups with the Canadiens, and then an Avco World Trophy as the leader of the Nordiques. Charlie Huddy, D Five Cups as one of the anchors of the Oiler D.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted June 19, 2008 Report Posted June 19, 2008 Should've PM'd me CG... I'll make two picks now... Dirk Graham Tom Barrasso
CanadianChris Posted June 19, 2008 Report Posted June 19, 2008 CG, you've got Derian Hatcher down for nl5xsk1 instead of Kevin Hatcher.
CanadianGuitarist Posted June 20, 2008 Author Report Posted June 20, 2008 A multiple-time 40-goal scorer. Patty Verbeek. You're up, Angle.
Zetterberg is God Posted June 20, 2008 Report Posted June 20, 2008 I'm sure there's probably a better pick that I could make here but this guy's two way play and ridiculous skill make him a good fit for my third line: Pavel Datsyuk, C 129 goals 286 assists 425 points Two Stanley Cup championships Two time All Star Selke Trophy winner, 2008 Three consecutive Lady Byng Trophies (2006-2008) Olympic Bronze medalist, 2002
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin Posted June 20, 2008 Report Posted June 20, 2008 DAMMIT!!! You stole Pav from me. I was all excited about an Yzerman-Zetterberg-Datsyuk line.
Zetterberg is God Posted June 20, 2008 Report Posted June 20, 2008 DAMMIT!!! You stole Pav from me. I was all excited about an Yzerman-Zetterberg-Datsyuk line. Heh, figured if I can't get Hank I'll at least take his partner in crime. I also thought he wouldn't be around when it came back to me so I had to pull the trigger now.
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted June 20, 2008 Report Posted June 20, 2008 Five For Fighting selects D Craig Hartsburg.
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin Posted June 20, 2008 Report Posted June 20, 2008 DAMMIT!!! You stole Pav from me. I was all excited about an Yzerman-Zetterberg-Datsyuk line. Heh, figured if I can't get Hank I'll at least take his partner in crime. I also thought he wouldn't be aroud when it came back to me so I had to pull the trigger now. You're damn right he wouldn't have been. I knew I should've taken him and taken my chances on Nilsson.
MFer Posted June 21, 2008 Report Posted June 21, 2008 It's been well over 24 hours (meaning 909 and Gert are skipped) so I guess I can pick... John LeClair ECAC Second All-Star Team (1991) NHL First All-Star Team (1995, 1998) NHL Second All-Star Team (1996, 1997, 1999) World Cup All-Star Team (1996) Bud Ice Plus/Minus Award (1997) Bud Light Plus/Minus Award (1999) Played in NHL All-Star Game (1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000 02 Olympics Silver Medal 02 Olympics First All-Star team Big, strong, fast, tough, great in front of the net, clutch, once scored 50+ goals in 3 straight seasons.
