The aborted Million Dollar Giveaway in WCW was one of the reasons Bischoff was ousted as president in September '99 and was widely panned by the Internet as a horrible idea.

I'm a bit puzzled by the "big announcement." Like others I wasn't sure if Vince was going to give away 1 million every week or just a sum total of 1 million over time. The draft was a more important part of it and they barely touched on that. No new GM, blah.

 

Ted DiBiase, Jr. looks like the 2nd coming of Orton, so I don't know how optimistic I am about him so far. Why is it that all of these 2nd generaton guys are all bland pretty boy types? Is it due to their dads being famous and thus marrying hot women? I do wonder who his partner will be though. Does Mike Rotunda have a son? It's sad in a way that Ted Jr. talked about winning the tag belts his first match, whereas it took his dad like 5 YEARS in the company.

 

Doesn't Mike Dibiase have a development contract? I'm sure he could be Ted Jr.'s partner.

I heard the offer as $100,000 over a 10 week period (say, is SummerSlam in 10 weeks?) equaling out to $1,000,000 but apparently I was the only one to interpret it that way. Not much different than the house give away or the $1,000,000 SummerSlam 97 give away, but whatever, let's all make fun of a company for giving money to their fans.

 

Speaking of money, Ted DiBiase and son coming out to the DiBiase theme music was great. I really hope Ted Sr. sticks around as a manager.

Someone posted a link right after Judgment Day to a place on justintv where the PPV had been archived for viewing. Anyone know where I can find something like that for Raw? I wasn't able to pay much attention or hear any promos for the first hour and a half due to a phone call. It'd be nice to find an archived version of the show. I suck with torrents and Dailymotion hasn't had the shows up like usual lately.

Me too. Seeing Ted SR. with his son come out together every week would be ALOT more entertaining than when we had Randy with Bob Orton. Randy's dad was just plain boring. Ted SR. rules!! Plus, his music is cool.

Oh yeah Ted Sr. would of course be more entertaining than the black hole of charisma that is Bob Orton. But DiBiase doesn't exactly have a brilliant track record as a manager. The Million Dollar Corp. basically killed the heat of everyone associated with it in 1994-96.

 

You know, the whole idea Bischoff had of bringing in music acts wasn't necessarily a BAD one, but it simply wasn't done right. They would simply throw KISS out there with no context, they would play, etc. Or Chad Brock, a little known country singer, simply shows up and plays. The initial Rock N Wrestling 80s angle in the WWF featured the music stars in storylines with the wrestlers, like with Cyndi Lauper.

Nobody in that entire stable was ever booked to look strong, except for Bam Bam. Not even Sid.

The one question I have for the people that said they liked the idea of Vince giving away $1,000,000 a week, if TNA did the same thing would you like it as well? Or would you bash it as bush league? I'm not asking that simply because I like TNA, but because many of the things TNA does gets bashed (rightfully so with some of the things they do), but WWE pulls stunts and it's excepted as being a good thing?! Either way, no matter who is doing it, I don't like it. It generates interest for a short time, but after a few weeks, if the show is not good, giving away money will not pull in viewers.

- As announced yesterday by WWE Chairman Vince McMahon on Monday Night RAW, WWE will be giving away a whooping $1 million per week on the show to a lucky fan. No details were released as to how this promotion will be held as

the show ended after McMahon made the announcement. This promotion will be done to fight the declining ratings that the show has been doing and it seems that it's geared towards the television viewers rather than the fans in

attendance. RAW is one of the most time-shifted recorded programs on television so doing something live will force viewers to watch the show live rather than have it on DVR. McMahon emphasized that this is not a hoax and not a trick. I guess we'll see next week.

 

Plus McMahon said it's going to be a sum of $1 million per week. Doesn't mean it will be to one person a week, but it's the sum per week.
