PILLS! PILLS! PILLS! 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2008 The Rockers vs. The Orient Express Royal Rumble 1991 Miami, FL January 19, 1991 I have a very special place in my heart for this tag team contest. Why, might you ask? Because it's the first wrestling match that I ever saw. A lot of people cannot remember this kind of stuff, but I do, with strong clarity. The high flying, the heelish double teaming by Kato and Tanaka, the hot tag... Any other match I might not be a fan today.
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2008 I like that match too.. apart from the main match itself, the only match I remember from that Rumble. Good choice.

Jebus 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2008 Good one, Franchise. That was one of my finalists too.
foleyfanforever88 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2008 DAMNIT! I never thought Team Austin vs Team Bischoff would get picked..it probably would have been my 3rd or 4th pick from now. I love HBK's almost perfect comeback at the end, and Austin's speech after the match ended.
Canadian Brandon 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2008 John Cena vs. Triple H. WWE Championship. Wrestlemania 22. April 2, 2006 This was a favorite of mine. I was always a Cena hater until this match. The pre-match entrances were special and it had a big match feel to it. Probably my favorite Wrestlemania main event.
mw679 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2008 The Great Sasuke vs. Jushin Lyger/Semi-Finals/NJPW Super J Cup 94/April 16th, 1994 Seeing as Ravenbomb stole the finals match from me, I gotta grab the semi-final match that's just as good. Sasuke gets his ass kicked by Lyger in the beginning, Lyger is busting out crazy submissions and leveling Sasuke with stiff shots. Sasuke battles back in amazing fashion hitting moonsaults and other flying moves. Oh, did I mention the crowd is HOT for this one? Anyway, if you haven't seen this tournament, you owe it to yourself to check it out. One of my favorites and the one that got me into puro.
Gert T 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2008 John Cena vs. Triple H. WWE Championship. Wrestlemania 22. April 2, 2006 This was a favorite of mine. I was always a Cena hater until this match. The pre-match entrances were special and it had a big match feel to it. Probably my favorite Wrestlemania main event. I may need to give it another shot then. That card has so many good-great matches on it, I usually don't even get to that match.
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2008 First, I'll take RVD/Sabu vs. Hayabusa/Shinzeki from Heatwave 98. Next, Bret Hart vs Hakushi from IYH 1.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2008 Well, I was away longer than I expected. Shawn Michaels vs. 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin WrestleMania XIV, WWF Championship "STONE COLD! STONE COLD!" Probably one of the most important matches of the last decade, with a better than expected performance from the injured Michaels and probably the best handled celebrity involvement ever with Tyson. And my other pick. Bryan Danielson vs. Nigel McGuinness ROH Unified, ROH World Title
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2008 That makes it mw679's pick, followed by Canadian Brandon.
mw679 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2008 Vader vs. Cactus Jack/WCW Championship/Texas Deathmatch/Halloween Havoc/October 24th, 1993 Here is a great one from WCW '93, granted, WCW kinda sucked back then, but this match is an awesome one. Foley takes some nasty bumps(what else is new...). This was the blow off to the infamous "amnesia angle", it was also a Texas Deathmatch and Vader just beats the living hell out of Mick. In the end, Vader gets the victory after some assistance from Harley Race.
Canadian Brandon 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2008 Christopher Daniels and AJ Styles vs. The LAX. NWA Tag Team title match. Ultimate X. September 24, 2006. Couldn't find a good picture of this match. It was so much fun to watch live. This is what TNA could be with good booking. Daniels' superman jump at the end of the match was awesome. PILLS! PILLS! PILLS! 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 The Rock vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin WrestleMania XIX Seattle, WA March 30, 2003 A very fitting end to Austin's (unfortunately short) run on top, with The Rock finally scoring the big WrestleMania win over the Texas Rattlesnake in the middle of the ring. The ovation for Austin after he had been defeated was tremendous.
Jebus 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 Couldn't find a big enough pic of the match itself but this pic says it all... With my next pick, I choose: Bret "Hitman" Hart vs. Chris Benoit - Owen Hart Tribute Match - WCW Monday Nitro - October 4, 1999 Just a deeply emotional match. Bret wrestling for his brother in the very same arena where he tragically died. Harley Race doing personal introductions was a nice touch. Bret looking up and waving goodbye after the match was a very touching moment. The match wasn't half-bad either
mw679 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 Awesome pick. That one completely slipped my mind.
Gert T 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 With my 12th round pick, I select: Harley Race v. Ric Flair/NWA World Title/Steel Cage Match/Starrcade '83 I just watched Harley's bounty promo and remembered how much I loved the match. If only they had a real ref in there who had a clie what was going on.
Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 Austin Aries, Roderick Strong & Jack Evans vs. CIMA, Naruki Doi & Masato Yoshino Dragon Gate Challenge One of the best ROH matches from the 04-06 era, which is saying a lot.
foleyfanforever88 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 If I'm going to be alone on a desert island, I'm gonna have to see some chicks somehow or I'll go insane. Therefore, my 12th pick is my favorite women's match of all time: Mickie James vs. Trish Stratus - Women's Championship - Wrestlemania
Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 Excellent pick if you're wanting a women's match. Although I'm kinda viewing all these drafts as being for the same island, so I'm fine with my picks from the Hot Bitches draft.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 My next pick, one of the greatest tag team matches ever: NWA United States Tag Team Championship match: Midnight Express [c] vs. Southern Boys, The Great American Bash, July 7, 1990
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 Al has PMed me his next two picks: Ultimate Warrior vs. Rick Rude - Summerslam '89 Ricky Steamboat & Dustin Rhodes vs. Arn Anderson & Larry Zbyszko - Clash of the Champions November '
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 And I can't find a good picture of this one: Triple Threat Elimination match for the WWE Tag Team Championship: Edge & Rey Mysterio [c] vs. Los Guerreros vs. Chris Benoit & Kurt Angle, Survivor Series, November 17, 2002
PILLS! PILLS! PILLS! 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 Ricky Steamboat & Dustin Rhodes vs. Arn Anderson & Larry Zbyszko - Clash of the Champions November '91 Ooh, sneaky. I thought for certain that I'd be able to swoop that up in one of the latter rounds. "Not Ricky Steamboat!"
Gert T 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 No doubt. I had both of those tag matches on my radar for later. Damn. Nice little flurry of matches going up last night. The Big Board is updated.
foleyfanforever88 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 I know it's my turn, but it's gonna be a little while. I got stuff to do and I'm all out of matches that I HAVE to have on my island, so I need to do some thinking before I make a pick.
foleyfanforever88 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 Well, I really don't know what I should pick now from a strategic point of view, so I guess I'll just keep the draft moving and pick a match that I wanted but was going to save til a later round. The 2005 Royal Rumble There were a lot of things I loved about this match: Benoit and Eddie being the first two, Benoit/Eddie/Holly vs. Puder, Hassan's elimination, Raw vs. Smackdown, London's elimination, Rey's ironman performance, etc. I knew I wanted to have a Rumble with me and this was my favorite one (since 00). Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 Tiger Mask vs. Dynamite Kid - Junior Heavyweight Title Madison Square Garden, 8/30/1982 Not sure if it's their best match, but it was the first match of each wrestler that I saw, and the first Japanese wrestling I saw other than the death match stuff, so it's a personal favorite. And even if it's not their best match, it's still a really damn good one.
