His rage is the stuff of football lore, fighting opponents on their sideline, biting at the bottom of piles (despite missing four front teeth), gouging eyes, and striking fear into the hearts of opponents. He was sharp, too, and played a tremendous leadership role in the fabled Steel Curtain defense. I'd rather have him on my team than have to deal with him. More animal than man. QB Steve Young 7 Pro Bowls 3 All-Pro Selections 2 SB Rings 1 SB MVP (in which he threw 6 TD) - Career 64.3% Completion Rate - Ran for 4,239 yards - Had a 5.90 YPC and 43 TD - Had a 2.17 TD:INT Ratio (232-107) Not only could he scramble but he was deadly accurate and was the #2 QB on my board behind Joe Montana. Not only did he start in the USFL but sat behind Joe Montana for years and had his career shut short due to concussions (this the year after arguably his best year statistically). His numbers could be even gaudier if he had stayed healthy and played through the '99 and even 2000 seasons. He'd be a perfect fit for my "ideal" Run & Shoot offense. Some of his accomplishments include: 9x Pro Bowl selection (1986, 1987, 1989, 1991, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, 1998) 5x All-Pro selection (1986, 1987, 1993, 1996, 1997) NFL 1990s All-Decade Team 1987 NFL MVP 1993 UPI AFL-AFC Offensive Player of the Year 1987 UPI AFL-AFC Offensive Player of the Year Super Bowl XXXIII MVP Started in 5 Super Bowls (won 2) 2nd in career wins, 3rd in career passing yards, attempts, and completions, and 5th in career TD passes 1st in career game winning or game tying scores in the 4th quarter (47) I think Elway could've easily gone in the top 8-10, so to get him at #16 is great for me. Some of his numbers might not wow you (namely, completion percentage and QB rating), but when it came down to making a big-time play, Elway got the job done. IMO he's the 2nd best QB of all-time behind Montana. He was very adept at making 4th quarter comebacks like Montana as well. This is pretty tough cuz there's a boatload of excellent players I could take here, but I've got my QB in Elway and now I'm gonna pick this guy to "quarterback" my defense.
