Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2008 Contrary to popular belief, Dwayne Johnson hasn't cut his wrestling ties entirely. A buddy of mine met him recently and he'll still autograph some items The Rock. I was really glad to hear that. I don't expect Johnson to ever return to the ring, but I totally respect him for still respecting where he came from.

cd213 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2008 Vote for Jeff Hardy's new shirt. They all suck though, so beware. This can also be some big news. From Gerweck.net: Dr. Phil Astin, the doctor of Chris Benoit, faces 175 federal counts of illegal prescription abuse to 17 different patients. At least six of these patients are believed to be professional wrestlers ... The 17 patients are referred to by their initials in the indictment. Two of the patients are Oscar Gutierrez, better known as Rey Mysterio, as well as former WWE wrestler Mark Jindrak, as the indictment includes previous charges related to distributing painkillers and other drugs to them last July. When questioned about his involvement with Astin during an appearance on Fox News' Red Eye program last August promoting his wrestling return at SummerSlam a few days later, Mysterio said he was prescribed pain medication from Astin due to six knee operations. He also denied ever using steroids. Jindrak is currently living in Mexico City, Mexico, competing for the CMLL promotion under the name Marco Corleone. Also listed in the indictment are the initials CMB and NEB, likely referring to Christopher Michael Benoit and Nancy Elizabeth Benoit. The initials MAB and RWH are also listed and believed to be well known pro wrestlers. MAB appears to be Buff Bagwell, who's real name is Marcus Alexander Bagwell. RWH is believed to be one-half of the current WWE World Tag Team Champions, Hardcore Holly, who's real name is Robert William Howard. Last July, ABCNews.com reported (click here for article link) that along with Benoit, Jindrak, and Gutierrez, Bagwell and Holly had their medical records seized by federal agents from Dr. Phil Astin's office. Lex Luger was also named in ABC's report, but no charges regarding him were filed in the indictment.
Mike wanna be 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2008 To be fair to Holly, he had a neck injury. To be honest about Holly, it's his own fault he had a neck injury and he's a world-class douche. I picked the lower-right Hardy shirt. It's the least obnoxiously colored of the four.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2008 A random thought from the WON: Here’s a scary stat. Every Smackdown world title match on PPV since 2006 has had either Batista, Edge or Undertaker in it. What makes that doubly troubling is that all three have been out during that period for long stretches of time with torn muscles. Even sicker, since the 2002 creation of the second world title, every Raw title match but two had either HHH, Cena or Orton in it. And in both of those two shows, HHH was in the actual main event as his matches were pushed bigger than the title match.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2008 Benoit v. Kane, Edge v. RVD are the two non-HHH, Orton and Cena matches. I don't get Dave's point about the Smackdown! scene though, but it seems like his latest kick is talking about how the WWE needs new faces
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2008 Those are just stats. Stats are meaningless. ... I mean, it's not like the main events are stale. ... ... ... I am so f'ing sick of seeing these people.
The Truthiness 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2008 I found those stats hilarious when I read the WON today. I can see the beef with Hunter, but I don't see the problem with Cena being in the title scene the last 2 years. It's funny people don't want you to say anything negative about TNA, yet the same people come in to the WWE folder and bash the company at every chance
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2008 I say plenty of positve things in this folder. And I say plenty of negative things in the TNA folder. I also don't have people telling me in every thread I post to go away because I only ever talk about one thing. And as a matter of opinion...the WWE has left the same people on top for so long that I'm sick of watching them. Nothing fresh happens on top.
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2008 Oh...and it's not that people don't want you to say anything negative in the TNA folder...it's that people want you to stop saying THE SAME THINGS OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER.... wait...now I can see why you wouldn't be bored by the WWE main event scene...
The Truthiness 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2008 I'm not bored with it, because it isn't bad and hasn't been bad for a couple of years now. Cena on top was classic, Orton on top was good, Triple H on top hasn't been too good. If something is good, I don't mind if it isn't "fresh". Doing something fresh for the sake of being different is never a good idea, you go with what works. Long title reigns work if it is done well, like Cena and Orton's championship runs. Hunter's title reign hasn't been spectacular, mostly because the 2 guys they were pushing to the top (Jeff and Regal) ended up getting suspended. I think Jeff's suspension is the reason Orton retained at mania, I'm willing to bet if Jeff didn't get suspended, mania would've been the frame work to build to a showdown with Jeff/Hunter some time this summer. The story was writing itself and I think that is where they would've been leading too after Mania. Jeff would've won the MITB and Hunter would've won the WWE title, and they would've been on the road to a Summerslam showdown, but Jeff got fucked up and they scratched the plans, and thought it would be better to stretch out the Hunter/Orton feud. They started building up Regal as the top heel on the show, so than he got busted, so they had to go another route. So it only made sense to go with Cena/HHH. Maybe they should've waited a while, and probably fed Jeff to Trips at NOTC, but they might be trying to keep the streak of good buyrates they've been getting and went with a sure thing like Cena/Hunter. Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2008 I figured JBL would be next in line for a WWE Championship title shot since with Orton being taken out, that leaves Layfield as the top heel, but whatever reason they didn't capitalize on such a great potential feud. Hardy Vs. Hunter would also be a fresh world title feud. They should've saved HHH's rematch with Cena for SummerSlam since that's a money match with casual fans unless they're saving the main event of the PPV for Jeff...wow there's not really a whole of options for opponents for HHH, is there? The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2008 It makes me think they're moving Cena to Smackdown. I figure they're moving Batista to Raw...so someone has to switch over. Even if it's going to a worse TV spot...they have to have SOMEONE on the top over there. Cena/Edge is still in my memory from last time...but I could definitely get into some Taker/Cena when he gets back.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2008 If Cena goes to SD I have the troubling feeling that come Feb./March of next year we'll be hearing rumors like "OMG Cena will end the streak at WM!" Here's something to ponder about that WON bit: What really drew the money at that Vengeance 2006 show? Meltzer mentions HHH's match was more hyped, and I know it was the DX reunion and all, but it's still just HHH and HBK squashing a bunch of male cheerleaders. A check of PPV buyrates shows that Vengeance 2006 did a .84, while ONS 2 a few weeks earlier did a .76. So maybe there was a .08 jump with the DX thing, but dare I say people were in reality much more interested in the RVD/Edge/Cena WWE title scene with the ECW crossover?
