Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2009 In what (at least IMO) is an interesting move StrikeForce has chosen to pass on the signing of Antonio Silva. I thought for sure that Overeem vs Silva would be on Coker's list of fights to put together ASAP. This does, of course open the door for him to UFC but I'm not sure if they want to touch him due to his situation with the CSAC.

Hawkius Maximus 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2009 In what (at least IMO) is an interesting move StrikeForce has chosen to pass on the signing of Antonio Silva. I thought for sure that Overeem vs Silva would be on Coker's list of fights to put together ASAP. This does, of course open the door for him to UFC but I'm not sure if they want to touch him due to his situation with the CSAC. Silva won't be able to fight for a long ass time. He failed a steroid test, and then like an idiot he decided to fight while suspended. He doesn't even have a license right now. Even at the time, most people were questioning the intelligence of fighting for DREAM. He wasn't going to get a super payday, he was already a few months into his suspension, and just generally he could have rode it out. Instead he violated his license and got paid but now has no title, no job, no license, no nothing. Bad career decision. In the grand scheme of things, I don't know if it means anything. Despite how much Elite XC pushed him, I don't think he would have been able to beat Overeem, and I question if he could hang with most of the UFC heavyweights. He never displayed much in the skill department aside from promise and being really fucking strong. That'll get you so far, but you have to show some evolution. Even someone like Brock Lesnar has shown more evolution in his game over his four fight career then I remember Silva really showing.
Zetterberg is God 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2009 Looks like the backup plan for 97 is to move it to the MGM Grand in Vegas, which cannot seat as many people as the Bell Centre. They've already sent out the tickets too as I got mine today.
Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2009 Fuck. At least when it was up in Canada-land, all I had to do was watch it at the bar and do a couple of birthday shots. Now, I might have to drive out to Vegas and drink my ass off with money I don't technically have. Fucking enablers.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2009 You were planning to come up for this? Why? It's not that good of a card.

Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2009 I meant going to a bar out here, since there was no fucking way I was going to attend a UFC in Canada, birthday or no. Now, with my friends and family bothering me about going out in mid-April anyway (lots of birthdays around that time), I may actually go, since it's on my birthday and all. Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2009 Club Super Sexe is a must if you haven't been. I highly recommend getting a private lesbian show. Me, Rudo and three other cats pitched 20 bucks each and it was well worth it. I'm talking porno-level graphic here.
Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2009 Dude, I live in SoCal; of course I've been to Vegas before. If my cash is limited by the time it comes, I'll probably stick to booze, a meal at Bouchon and stalking various MMA personalities.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2009 http://www.sherdog.com/videos/recent/Ken-S...ss-Clifton-1918 Ken Shamrock's latest fight. I had no idea just how blubbery Ken's opponent was that night. Pretty sad to see him resorting to fights like this. http://www.sherdog.com/videos/recent/Tank-...ike-Bourke-1919 Tank Abbot's fight as well The commentary is just brutal by the way. Weird to hear both guys getting buried in a fight

Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2009 If you do, then try and wait at least a month before getting yourself banned again. Hey! My last banning here was in the summer of 2002! Anyway, I've decided to stay away from the NHB part of the forum since it's shady as hell and it doesn't live up to it's expectations. So I'm here to stay everyone! I know you all missed me... MMA folder ain't the same without EHME! We are all like a big happy family! Regardless, I've got to defend myself on one thing, being excused of stealing your posts. I've never directly copy and pasted your posts Lei Tong, but there were many points I would agree with and used it in my arguments that I've had on other forums. If you took it as I directly stole it from you, but my bad for the misunderstanding, but I was just trying to explain to other posters my opinion on the subject matter. Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2009 You didn't straight jack my posts word for word, but you have to admit that they were essentially the same insights reworded. Zetterberg is God 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2009 Looks like 97 is staying in Montreal with the only rule modification being no foot stomps. Very good news as I dreading having to cancel/modify my trip.

Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2009 Hey Tong, how about that Matthew Riddle you've been very hard on in the past? 2-0 against tough competiton for a young fighter with no real pro experience... Plus he gave Creduer a tough fight on the show, you can't sleep on the kid no more.
Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2009 I don't think I've been particularly hard on him since his Creduer fight, if I've said anything at all about him. He joined a good camp for his style.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2009 I'm still pretty choked that Gerald Harris didn't get picked up after the show ended... He's been wrecking shit since being off the show. He's been going back a forth between Arizona Combat Sports, and Rampage/Bisping's camp in the UK, which is for sure a step up from Team Quest. He also plans going to Greg Jackson's camp in the future. The sky is the limit for him. Ultimate Fighter 7 was very slept on... Very good fighters, and good fights overall.
