PILLS! PILLS! PILLS! 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2008 By the time we get to Unforgiven, everyone but JBL and Punk are going to have some sort of kayfabe weakness. Unless you consider JBL being in terrible shape as a weakness.
Noah Fentz 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2008 I'm really disappointed with the Mysterio thing. Not even an explanation of what went on with him and Kane?!? So, I guess it's safe to assume he wasn't as tortured or terrorized as the angle was heading. I'm extremely disappointed they didn't have some form of explanation before announcing his participation in the scramble. There may still be a payoff. Perhaps Adamle is such a dope that he would just go ahead and book the shit without considering the kind of condition and mindset that fuck it nevermind this is pretty awful I give up mid-sentence my head hurts... Hahaha! Mine, too. The only payoff will be if Rey and Kane battle off into the crowd and into the back. That would leave JBL, Batista, and CM to work their asses off for a great match. Batista is walking away with this one in the wake of Cena's leave.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2008 No way do they put the belt back on Batista in this silly Scramble match. In a bizarre way it would be like rewarding him for injuring Cena. Punk is actually getting over as champ, so why take the belt off him? After last week they flat out have to do a Jericho/Punk feud once this Michaels stuff plays out. ashamed wrestling fan 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2008 (edited) - Who thought it was a good idea to put Primo Colon on Raw as bland jobber #2? Isn't this was ECW is supposed to be for? - I refuse to believe Kendrick is making it to the main event. I still suspect Big Show squashing him before Triple H gets the chance - Oh..I forgot about poor Charlie Haas But hey...I guess it beats working with Shane Douglas and Aldo Montoya at Target - From soft-core porn star to WWE Diva to political correspondent Candice Michelle: A Star on the Rise Edited August 26, 2008 by ashamed wrestling fan
goldengreek 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2008 Awesome match. JBL has been good to Punk. I thought that match was awful and boring. CM just doesn't have what it takes to be a champ, IMO. What did he do? A dozen kicks and a springboard before his finisher? I still haven't seen a very convincing performance from him, since winning the belt. You are very right, though, JBL has been VERY good to him. Are you blind or stupid? Thats JBL in there. Unless its a LMS match how much do you want Punk to carry him in that match. He hit all his spots and it was an eciting match. Sorry Punk isnt 6' 6'' and 260 pounds for you.
goldengreek 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2008 Good match for Primo. Shame the WWE won't know how to use him. You could hear a pin drop in the match. Dont know if he was too new for the crowd or they just shit on him.
Scroby 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2008 Not only that but Primo won with the top-rope "The WWE taught me how to do a top rope cross body and it's now my finisher!" crossbody.
DCH 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2008 Sorry Punk isnt 6' 6'' and 260 pounds for you. Actually JBL is now being billed as 306 pounds, which makes sense considering his milk mountains of doom. I reckon the Kane/Mysterio angle has great potential, it's quite fresh. In terms of the scramble, I think Cena's injury could mean Jericho coming in after stealing his spot, and then seeing him narrowly lose to Punk before snapping and killing him after the scramble. The scramble could set up some other feuds, like Batista/JBL which I don't remember ever happening. I see the Punk/Jericho feud building into a scene in which Orton invades around Survivor Series. That's pretty entertaining from my view.
fazzle 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2008 I still see SD as the scramble where the title changes hands. It's too early to take the title off of Punk, as it would cut the legs out from under him. I see MVP getting a quick (month at the longest) title reign on SD, pinning Hardy with about 2 seconds left in the match. As for ECW, well......who gives a shit? Although it does take talent to both introduce and overkill an idea all in the same night. Bravo writing staff, bravo.
Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2008 I think it's silly to say JBL is in bad shape. Yeah, he's not ripped like Cena or Batista, but he kept up with Punk just fine last night. It used to be that wrestlers looked more like JBL and less like Batista. Anyway, it was a pretty good RAW last night. I really liked the opening match, and there was enough interesting stuff to keep me entertained throughout. I hope this is the last we see of the Duggan/Lawler tag team, though. I really don't get why Duggan is wrestling on my TV in 2008.

Dont know if he was too new for the crowd or they just shit on him. Too new, I think. I wonder, though, what he's doing on Raw. He would make a much better SD member. As far as his flying body press finisher, it won't be long before he has something at least semi-unique.
SamoaRowe 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2008 I felt that Primo had a good debut. Not everyone can have the luxury of being CM Punk and debuting in front of a smark crowd at the Hammerstein for instant heat. I remember Randy Orton's Raw debut against Stevie Richards, you could hear every little sneeze and cough in the crowd.
Scroby 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2008 I liked Primo's match, even though I don't get why he did the cartwheel and jumped in the air only to see nothing come out of it, but he didn't look to bad, but I also got the generic FCW (or OVW) wrestler to hit a WWE ring feeling from him as well. Hopefully that'll change soon.

It used to be that wrestlers looked more like JBL and less like Batista. True, but he still could stand to add a little interval cardio training into his routine. I'd like to see a JBL that's built more like Ted DiBiase back in the day (since that's his character, pretty much).

Hopefully that'll change soon. The cartwheel thing was basically his "I'M FIRED UP~!" spot and it was so cheesy it made me laugh. People doing random cartwheels and front flips during matches to show they're on the comeback is always goofy. Really didn't work with the crowd so dead. Seemed kinda 'indy' to me, I don't know why since I can't think of anyone in particular who did it, at least off the top of my head. Then again, Rocky Maivia had a really goofy babyface fire sequence and he turned out okay. You know, eventually.
mfn 0 Report post Posted August 27, 2008 Punk not over enough for you Noah? I think Punk is one of the most exciting champions we've had in a while. I like it. It's fresh. It's new. It's not Cena/Orton/Batista/Triple H. He's mad over and has worked a good match with just about everyone he's faced. I don't see what your hate is all about. I have nothing but respect for every single worker that makes it to their level. I don't like CM as a choice for champion, though. Dressed in black with greasy hair is such an "indy" look, and I'm simply not impressed with his work in-ring as champ so far (he's so low-impact!). Now, with Cena out, I'd work the belt around Batista's waist. He's much more marketable and credible as champion.

I will say that Batista is crazy over, but I think keeping the title on Punk would be the smartest move. I'm not saying he should keep the title until Mania, but I think he should hold on to it until Survivor Series at least. As far as the low impact stuff goes, maybe he toned it down to protect the workers in WWE? I don't know. I haven't really noticed the low impact stuff. Angle-plex 0 Report post Posted August 27, 2008 Jake's review RAW Review: Aug. 25, 2008 As Rod Sterling use to say, "You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension, a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You're moving into a land of both shadows and substance, of things and ideas. You've just crossed over into...The Twilight Zone." Now we might be able to swallow this a bit easier the Sci-Fi channel- ah- properly placed after all. This is closer to Sci-Fi wrestling... Just trying to call a spade a spade and hope this challenges all involved to change, improve or remember what your product should be. Signs in audience for and against CM and Cena. CM vs JBL JBL must have had a fire built under his ass because he's working harder. Did you notice his headlock? Forearm turned inside which believe me, it makes it unpleasant on cheek or jaw. Ouch! CM got that boot, and I'm sure he didn't know it was coming but then again when does anyone know when yours is? Always believed and am absolutely positive it's the right way you must know what's coming so you can get placed ready and prepared to put yourself in the right spot. One things for sure--I think the judges would say about even on blind stiff shots thrown. All things considered, this was a solid performance and surprise to have a real contest open the show instead of 10 minutes of verbal ga- ga. C.M., thanks for the DDT imitation poorly done even off top rope couldn't beat the guy with it. Am I just that much better? At least the DDT worked. Need a little work on bulldog too. Pretty good finish. Liked the referee showing some authority. No one can say they aren't trying to push C.M. And believe me everyone has to respect and feel you could it with more matches like this one. Adamle-with Cena news I will write something on this later. Kane deserves more than he gets. Great interview and lighting gave that sinister effect. Kane heavy breathing would add to your insane character and sweating would enhance. Primo Colon, where's this going? Shawn--too soon don't you think? Should have throttled Adamle when he mentioned your wife! Just my point of view. Still think the idea I suggested last week would have been spectacular but let's see where WWE takes this. Kelly Kelly vs Glamazon (Breast Phoenix) There's no way this will equal the titillating performance the champ gave us last week. We cam only hope! Santino is the ultimate screw-up but doing his part great. Really wished they could put microphone on him to hear his banter. Then again belongs on Comedy show. For the most part that's what we get isn't it? Why Kelly though-must be the next lam to slaughter as Glamazon will get her revenge! Yes indeed Hart & Perfect certainly classic. Damn sure better than all we are getting currently. Charlito vs Primo Colon Charlie Haas--good spot punching Primo when ref is backing him off. That's smart and heat is the benefit gained. Decent match but hard to take serious with Carlito imitation. People in stands don't understand why this happened. Just surprised, no baby blues on Charlito. Obviously folks, you get this when you've pissed off WWE and it's time to tear down the start off the wall. Chances are no Hall of Fame for Carlito. To confuse fans isn't good, but good and bad have nothing to do with this. Remember the Diesel and Razor imitations? AND DO YOU AGREE MY UNNAMED SMART MARK? Shawn interview One truth Shawn spoke of was his wife of 10 years has gotten tough out of necessity due to being married to him. Being married to any wrestler demands so much that no woman can imagine: the pain, sacrifice, loneliness, jealousy, anger, hopelessness she will have to endure. Children also get the shaft and benefits. Believe me, the downs are much, much greater than the upside. Doing interview in ring cuts the seriousness down immensely. Should have had Shawn at home and Jericho live. Wow! They are going for the unsanctioned match at Unforgiven -rush-rush-rush. Time can be a friend, when used right. Jericho pouting sure looked funny. Goading can be an asset. Duggan /Lawler vs Dibiase/Rhodes People still love us old dinosaurs. Can you spell ENHANCEMENT. Didn't get near what you could have out of match. A little more time would have helped. It is what it is. Be sure and thank the men who did the favor. Cryme Tyme- at least not in ring facing them. Silly White boys-Thieves, lets not go there.. Santino vs Kofi Kinston Strange start by Kofi. My can he fly or what. Great uppercut, he shouldn't punch just do those they are great. The missed spot by Kofi starts the heat. People get with Kofi quickly. Started comeback and still sold the damage. Good spot for Glamazon to come down and good finish. Aftermath even better. Love conquers all. Look like Santino could have used a cigarette after the kisses. Still like this. Kofi lost in shuffle-I hope not. He is small but a breath of fresh air no less. WWE in Denver at Democratic National Convention It's wonderful WWE using the power to encourage all to vote and literally forcing the hand of the Presidential hopeful to address the 18 to 30 demographic the WWE controls. This also gets a lot of coverage and positive press. Where's TNA? Another thought maybe, Stephanie will be our first woman President, after all, this is Sci-fi - HHH, that would make you the first ______? Adamle announcement-replacing Cena with Rey Mysterio which fits in with Kane angle. Will he appear later in Bastista vs Kane Match? Two scrambled championship-wow-the champ can't get no respect and the decks stacked against him. All in all just cheapens the belt even more. Although when someone states they area 10 time world champion, just tells me that they lost it at least 9 times. Belts aren't necessary evil are they? For some, yes! Kane vs Batista The need to start slow and build the match was never more evident. Guys no one expects you to go warp speed except WWE possibly, but sometimes you have to buck the system to get desired result (a good match.) Nothing is worse than 2,300lb men out of gas. Come back from commercial with heat in progress-that's smart-gives fans some time to get into match. Great move Kane, going for knee. That makes sense and gets fans into it. Babyface must have sympathy from fans. The need of fans to keep their hero by cheering, clapping, and encouraging their man. It's what makes the whole world go round. Kane vicious and taking time to enhance evil character. Although hardest thing to do is work the legs as most don't like being down on back much. It's a lost art. Fans do get with the match though. When selling it must come from body part endangered. Face, hands and every breath. Great finish, just don't understand why it was wasted. For goodness sake, you finally do something smart and then immediately throw it out the window by stopping the selling and killing all that was worked for. Shame on all of you. Heat isn't a bad thing you know. It makes money and creates interest. Show moved well yet lacked the crunch needed. They had the chance with last match but blew it when they didn't leave Batista laying. That would have created interest, doubt and put some serious heat on Kane. Seems these days they want to start the fire but douse it with water before the show is over. Felt like Shawn/Jericho wasn't done as well as could have been, but in all fairness trying to keep up with previous vignettes and provided pieces would have been nearly impossible. Still hate the Jericho pouting. Great to know Mysterio is on way back and will wait patiently for Kane match up. Believe me, Rey can make this match buyable and believable. Now let's get down to brass tacks. Will give you something extra tomorrow as I am going to get real serious about the reason for the constant stream of injuries. Before I leave you, I want to say thanks for the sign at ringside, saying "I'm here to see Jake the Snake." Got quite a good feeling and a big smile. It helps make the body not hurt quite so bad. By the way, did they come and take it away from you? Surely--it wasn't a WWE planted one. Yes they do that, WWE makes some and hands them out to be shown. So goodbye for now, and will leave you in a Sci-Fi way.
