Fallout MMO set back

Fallout co-creator Jason Anderson has joined fellow Interplay veteran Brian Fargo at his inXile studio, where he's working on a new single-player RPG.

Anderson was previously back at Interplay with another Fallout vet, Chris Taylor, working on the company's long-discussed Fallout MMO. Interplay sold the single-player Fallout rights to Bethesda, resulting in recent smash hit Fallout 3, but retained the rights to make an online version.

The way things are at the moment, I wouldn't be surprised if several MMO's in production stop. Most of the MMOs out there now (WoW aside) have seen a huge fall in subscriptions. Fallout MMO would have been interesting, at the least just to see how it would have worked.

Yeah, with the economy being how it is, a lot of people are cutting back on that kind of stuff...I could never personally justify spending 10 bucks or whatever a month to play an online game, and sure wouldn't do it now.

The Pitt has been put on hold for now.

We are continuing to look into the issues people are experiencing with The Pitt for Xbox 360. As of now it looks like the file for the English version on Xbox Live was somehow corrupted. We are currently working with Microsoft to remove the existing file off of Live to prevent any further downloads. Our plan is to replace it with a new file as soon as possible. We hope to have another update for you shortly.

So I bought Fallout 3 the other day. Not very far in it (just starting some side quests in Megaton). Hopefully its just me getting used to the game, but its taking some time getting used to talking to everyone rather than having a clear cut objective. Wasn't too keen on it first, but after a few hours I'm starting to warm up to the game.

You'll get used to that. Its a pretty fun game, one that opens up a lot more once you've got a few quick travel points unlocked.

So after getting killed when traveling around the wasteland I forgot the rule of thumb I had for all PC game....save often. Pain in the ass after getting killed and discovering some new places and not saving my progress.

BTW, for those of you with the add-ons, do "You Gotta Shoot 'Em in The Head" before you do "Operation: Anchorage". The game only recognizes one set of T51-b armor and the game thinks you've gotten it out of the Fort if you get the armor from the Outcasts.

If this is a spoiler, sorry.

Also, the Pitt is fun, but man is it choppy, and still a little buggy. I'm still waiting for Broken Steel. I need that cap raise. When it happens, are there going to be new perks with it, or are you just going to get to go back and take 10 more perks from earlier in the game?

I hope it's new perks. Although if it's just what we've got I can build the mother of all tanks out of it. Really though by the time I get in to the mid 20s I'm going to have just about all my skills maxed out (except maybe unarmed and 1 other) so a lot of points are going to be wasted. Plus "Grim Reaper's Sprint" at 20 is awesome. I wanted to build a small guns specialist so I took Gunslinger, Sniper, and the Action Boy perks. Get Sidney's Ultra 10mm machine gun and you can get 5 or even 6 shots out of VATS, which will kill just about anything short of a Deathclaw or Sentry Bot. Get a kill, get all your APs back, rinse and repeat. You can pretty much clear out a room and watch the skulls go flying. I oughta go back and take Bloody Mess to make it look like an early John Woo flick.

Use a laser rifle (or the unique variant), and you can get a ton of shots off...8 or 9? You can take out almost anything in one barrage, then go right into VATS after and do it again. If you have anything that increases crit bonus, it's just killer.

Cool. I've got the Metal Blaster (from the Pitt) and it's a fairly powerful laser rifle (40 or so) so I might give that a shot. At this point I'm just experimenting anyway.

Fallout New Vegas sounds awesome. Is Broken Steel still supposed to come out in the next week?

They haven't said, but it got a stealth update Sunday, which added the achievements in. The Pitt's stealth update happened a week and a half before release, if that's anything to gauge it by.

I hope Broken Steel provides more content than O:A or The Pitt. Anchorage is neat, but has no real replay value at all - but it does add a suit of power armor that never degrades. The Pitt is better, but is still really linear.

Lv. 28

Eh, I don't see anything at 22 that's worth it. Maybe Quantum Chemist just for the sidequest. Other than that, I'd probably go with No Weakness, Nerves of Steel (maybe Warmonger just to try things out at 27), Rad Absorption, and then, of course, Almost Perfect (assuming it doesn't lower your 10s to 9s). Really though, the skills at 20 are probably just as helpful if not more so than just about any of the new perks.
