Jeff Hardy not at all rushed to Emergency Room (WWE.com storyline)

Recommended Posts

It's pretty stupid of them to run a worked angle like this, in this way, considering everything that's gone on in wrestling over the past few years. Not to mention Hardy's past, and people expect this to happen for real.

It is a work, and it will lead to zero additional PPV buys. Great job!

How do you know? The story at least creates interest among WWE.com viewers, just see how we are speculating. So are dozens of others. So if it creates interest, why shouldn't it create additional buys?

There's two sides to it. They will either get more buys because people are interested to see what happens, or less buys because people were routing for Hardy and don't want to watch now because they think he's been taken off the show.

It won't make a big difference either way though. People who were going to order the PPV will order regardless.

Unless they plan on layering the ongoing story, then, no. Speculating that one of your top stars might not make it to the show is not going to pad last minute purchases.

I'm going to go on record as saying I order this PPV because of the WWE.com story. If I had ordered this by phone (does anyone even do this?) I would have asked the cable operator to pass that message on. It's not true, but you know, just to be an ass about the whole thing.

I actually agree that at the present time I have no idea how this adds buys. If they were to say a MYSTERY MAN is added to the mix, ok... but what if the Hardy fans don't want Mystery Man? And it's not like people that ordered in advance can't cancel.

Jeff Hardy story plus top star is in Boston unannounced

WWE.com is reporting that Jeff Hardy was found passed out in a stairwell last night at the Boston hotel he was staying at and rushed to the emergency room.

Several sources have confirmed this as storyline and that Hardy is expected to be selling the injuries on tonight's Survivor Series show.

There is a lot of speculation this will lead to an Edge vs. Jeff Hardy feud, as Edge will be the culprit. While this feud is not confirmed, there was talk of Edge vs. Hardy at Royal Rumble, and Edge flew from Tampa to Boston last night for the show.

I think Jeff Hardy is dead. The next headline in the news will say "Jeff Hardy has passed away" :( He might have fell into a coma perhaps due to his past drug addiction.

Christians TNA contract doesn't expire until next month so he won't be in the WWE yet.

They did the death angle last year. It doesn't end well.

If this is an angle.. I don't know, man, after the Benoit thing, when everyone said "work!", you'd think they would have learned. Sure, it's nowhere near on the same level, but still. What happens if someone legitimately passes out in a hallway next week?

Thanks, I didn't see bob barron post that directly above and needed a refresher.

That probably sounds hypocritical after I got mad (and subsequently deleted) a several post argument Enigma and others were having over information being repeated, but that was more due to it degenerating into Enigma vs. Posters than Banter simply repeating something by accident. The lesson here is to read before you post.

Do you ever read threads? You did the same thing in the Movies folder with The Wrestler trailer.

As this is post 55 in a thread about a worked injury (more than the combined spoiler thread and on-air broadcast thread combined had for SmackDown), maybe this is a success for hyping Survivor Series.

Remember everyone, Jeff Hardy may be "in the hospital", but we have 3 elimination matches and a casket match on hand! Plus the return of the always controversial John Cena!

Only if the people replying to this thread spend money and actually buy the pay-per-view.

Guest Smues

I didn't plan to order the PPV before this, and I still don't. If the headline was "HHH seriously hurt, vacated title up for grabs tonight" then I'd be all over the show. Hardy collapses in stairwell? Whoopdy do, like I already didn't know he was losing.

They have stiff competition from Redemption round these parts.

If this is a work, it's pretty Russorific. I guess Vince just want's to work the internet to put the IWC in it's place or something. I doubt most marks check wwe.com consistantly, and if they do, they're less likely to buy the PPV if they want to see Jeff. It was done with the hope that the other websites would pick up the story.

I think this way more tastless than the Vince death angle. That was so over the top and shown live on TV. This is a story designed to make it look like a know drug addict had ODed, with a small amount of info released at 6 AM on a website to leave fans in the dark.
