I don't know enough about all the algorithms in the computer rankings to say where they're actually going to land. *breathes a sigh of relief* I thought you were like a computer guy that was crunching the numbers and leaning towards Texas still being ahead in the computer polls. When it comes to the different rankings does the point total in the USA Today Poll matter or does it just matter where you're ranked? Does it matter OU is only ahead by one point or is just being ahead period enough? I'm wondering what happens in the Harris Poll. I really think after seeing this trend that Texas will pull ahead in the Harris Poll.

Also, from sportsline: Oklahoma has the early advantage in its Sunday BCS showdown with Texas. It is a significant one. The Sooners moved past Texas in the Sagarin Rankings, one of six computers used to determine the BCS standings. Jeff Sagarin was the first of the computer masters to post their updated rankings. Oklahoma moved from No. 4 to No. 1 in Sagarin while Texas dropped from No. 1 to No. 2. What does that mean? Plenty. OU has a .0150 of a point lead over Texas now in Jerry Palm's CollegeBCS.com BCS standings estimate posted early Sunday. Texas came into Saturday with a .0084 lead over Oklahoma in the official BCS standings. The highest ranked team of the two in Sunday's BCS standings will play in the Big 12 championship game against Missouri on Saturday. Win that and either Oklahoma or Texas could play for the national championship against the Alabama/Florida winner in the SEC championship game. There is still a long way to go Sunday but momentum seems to be building behind the Sooners who made their final regular-season statement in a 61-41 over No. 11 Oklahoma State. BCSguru.com, another website dedicated to BCS analysis but with no input into the system, projected Sunday that Oklahoma would finish ahead of Texas. Still to weigh in, the five other computer indexes and the two human polls that comprise the BCS -- the Harris and coaches polls. Here is a very preliminary look by Palm at the top five posted on his site Sunday morning. 1. Alabama, .9839 2. Oklahoma, .9325 3. Texas, .9175 4. Florida, .8988 5. USC, .8107

They made up the gap and doubled it already. There's almost no way the other computers won't fall in line. You're stressing out over nothing. If anything, Florida will be closer to Texas than Texas will be to Oklahoma.

Psycho Penguin Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 Oklahoma is clearly going to be ahead of Texas in the BCS. They are ahead in the coaches and will be ahead in the computer. So, unless a magic fairy sprinkles dust on their computers between now and 4:30 PM EST, Texas will be screwed in a way. However, one advantage Texas may have: They won't have to play the extra game. OU very well could lose, and then Texas will move into the top 2 against the SEC champ. Then again, Texas already destroyed Missouri and OU probably will too.

If anything I'll be angry that ESPN campaigned for Brown and gave him face time during the OU game to do so. But if OU doesn't make it......they don't make it. It's pretty simple.

BCS takes an average of coaches poll, harris poll, and computer rankings. BCS ranking is what matters. I don't know if this answers your question, though.

Highly unlikely, because OU will almost certainly be ahead by a decent margin in the computer polls. Texas would need to be ahead by a bunch in the Harris Poll, something on the order of UT #2 and OU #6.

According to Brad Edwards if OU is ahead by even a point in the computer then Texas would've had to be ahead by 31 points in the Harris to move ahead. HOWEVER, if Texas and OU end up tied in the BCS (which he thinks is very likely) then Texas just needs a 2-point margin in the Harris. Fuck....I think Texas is going to Kansas City. Fuck fuck. Mack Brown's campaigning worked again.

No matter how you analyze it Texas beat Oklahoma. Now, my question is: What are the chances of a Oklahoma-Texas national championship game?
