If we really want to get all English-classy on that commercial, one could argue that the freecreditreport.com commercials are level 2 (as in a 2 on maslow's heirarchy, safety) ethos appeals. Haws bah gawd seems like kind of a lonely guy though. I'd imagine the needs he wants met pertain more to level 3 or level 4, and judging by his dislike of jingle's he probably wants a more straight up logos appeal. I'd say his ideal commercials consists of a spokesperson standing in front of a camera with a bar graph that says "this product will make people like you better!"

EDIT: Oh, I was so close! Those commercials definitely fall under level 3, but they're more pathos than logos.

Now that I'm ranting, the commercial that annoys the shit out of me more than any right now is the radio ad for the Independence Bowl in which Northern Illinois plays...I forget, someone, in Shreveport. It's a 60, and the bed is the marching band playing the fight song, so already you have a guy talking over an entire marching band for an entire minute, all over low-fidelity AM radio. The copy is horribly meandering and seems to just be one closing line after another, so you keep feeling like it's going to wrap up and then it just keeps going. It's pretty awful stuff, trust me. No clear call to action, it's aural sandpaper, it's just bad.

Oh man that one does suck. Is it odd I only get 670 in the early morning? Like, around dawn. Seems like that wouldn't be too conducive to AM out of Chicago all the damn way over here. Might just be my truck's radio. I only get the local 1380 after the sun's up. Otherwise it's a mish-mash of catholic bullshit and static.

I can't stand Caruso, but SESSION 9 was such an awesome movie, and he wasn't in it enough to ruin it. He was tolerable in the movie actually.

I agree with the hate on Russell Brand. FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL was a great movie. I put it on the same list as WAITING. Both enjoyable movies that got a talentless comedian to become popular (Brand and Dane Cook). Mencina is also horrible.
