2009 Oscar prediction contest

Recommended Posts

Easy stuff here. Predict the most winners and be crowned...something.

In the rare case of ties or drunk presenters giving Marisa Tomei more awards people will still get credit if the person they pick gets a statue.

The Dark Knight was screwed...vote away

I don't want it to win, but it will win.

No, it won't. It has absolutely no chance. It's the token 5th nominee, and the token 5th nominee never wins.

Winslet will win the Oscar for it and that's it.

So is there ANY chance that anybody besides Heath wins best supporting actor? And if so, who? Because there's a lot of money to be made if it's anyone else.

Bullshit. Philip Seymour Hoffman is going to take it.

Not Oscar-related, but I was just watching the Spirit Awards on IFC and the guy who played Coach Kevin Riley on Boston Public won for best director (The Visitor). That's just plain wacky.

No, he's not. Hoffman has already won before, and is considered a longshot at best.

If Ledger doesn't win, the odds on favourite is Brolin, who has been tons of praise for his performance.

I still think Ledger will pull it off, since it will look so bad if he doesn't, but it wouldn't shock me to see Brolin win. It would also be a way of rewarding him for his quality of work the past few years, particularly his performance in W.

Ledger has won every single award leading up to the Oscars, I would be shocked if they went a different direction. Shocked.

The Supporting Acting categories are made for shockers. It's one of those categories that no one cares about a little after the fact but it makes for good chatter and adds to the anything can happen feel

Benjamin Button may probably win this, but between Heath's Joker and Two Face, I'd say TDK has a lock over at least Hellboy II. Though, I think Two Face was done with mostly CGI, so I don't know if it would count.

As much as I loved TDK, I think Slumdog will sweep this year.

I have a feeling Benjamin Buton will actually win this, since the Academy doesn't seem to like Superhero movies... but for me, while TDK had some excellent effects, Iron Man blew them all away.
