bob_barron Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 No, it won't. It has absolutely no chance. It's the token 5th nominee, and the token 5th nominee never wins. Winslet will win the Oscar for it and that's it.

Guest Smues Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 So is there ANY chance that anybody besides Heath wins best supporting actor? And if so, who? Because there's a lot of money to be made if it's anyone else.

BUTT Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 Not Oscar-related, but I was just watching the Spirit Awards on IFC and the guy who played Coach Kevin Riley on Boston Public won for best director (The Visitor). That's just plain wacky.
bob_barron Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 So is there ANY chance that anybody besides Heath wins best supporting actor? And if so, who? Because there's a lot of money to be made if it's anyone else. Josh Brolin has the best shot at pulling off the upset Bullshit. Philip Seymour Hoffman is going to take it. No, he's not. Hoffman has already won before, and is considered a longshot at best. If Ledger doesn't win, the odds on favourite is Brolin, who has been tons of praise for his performance. I still think Ledger will pull it off, since it will look so bad if he doesn't, but it wouldn't shock me to see Brolin win. It would also be a way of rewarding him for his quality of work the past few years, particularly his performance in W.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted February 22, 2009 Author Report Posted February 22, 2009 Ledger has won every single award leading up to the Oscars, I would be shocked if they went a different direction. Shocked.
bob_barron Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 Ledger has won every single award leading up to the Oscars, I would be shocked if they went a different direction. Shocked. The Supporting Acting categories are made for shockers. It's one of those categories that no one cares about a little after the fact but it makes for good chatter and adds to the anything can happen feel
