Kinetic 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2009 Twisted Intestine: Sinead O'Connor is a she, not a he. She was quite famous in the early '90s for tearing up a picture of the pope on live television. And the whole "2 U" business is a result of the song having been written by Prince, whose use of individual numbers and letters in place of full words predated the use of similar language in text messaging by nearly two decades. King Kamala 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2009 I don't know why the hell people would vote in this tournament if they haven't heard of half of the songs or even the artists. I mean I wouldn't vote in a Best Song of the 1930s tournament and be like "Rudy Vallee? That chick has a stupid name!" I guess it doesn't make any less sense than the people who seemingly hate '90s music voting in this thread. Anyways my picks; Montell Jordan- "This Is How We Do It" (Hopefully Howie Do It hasn't ruined this song's chances to make the Final Four and beyond) Snoop Dogg- "Gin and Juice" ("Groove Is In The Heart" is a fun song but this song just screams '90s) Warren G (ft. Nate Dogg)- "Regulate" (the battle between this and "This Is How We Do It" will be truly epic) Jay-Z- "Can I Get A..." Nirvana- "Heart Shaped Box" The Smashing Pumpkins- "1979" (Glad to see this one move on another round) R.E.M.- "Losing My Religion" Tom Cochrane- "Life Is A Highway" (For Inc) Skee-Lo- "I Wish" (Let's get the man to the Sweet 16. Pleasantly surprised to see him make it this far) 2-Pac- "California Love" (This is a battle of hip hop songs liked by people I know that don't normally like hip hop. Going off on a brief tangent here but I knew a guy who absolutely hated hip hop but he really liked DMX. What? He only liked shitty hip hop? Glad to see there weren't any DMX songs nominated even if he has been a good source of unintentional comedy over the years. ) Beastie Boys- "Sabotage" (Pretty good song, one of the better videos of the '90s) Red Hot Chili Peppers- "Under The Bridge" (Yeah, The Offspring were pretty lame. I enjoy "Under The Bridge" sort of despite myself) New Radicals- "You Get What You Give" (I really hope this makes it. One of my favorite singles of the '90s and "Creep" really isn't one of Radiohead's better songs by any stretch of the imagination) Sinead O'Connor- "Nothing Compares 2 U" (Love this song) Lisa Loeb- "Stay" (Let's keep the Cinderella run going. Keep it going for all the sensitive singer-songwriters and the hot chicks with glasses!) Meat Loaf- "I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)" (This one's for BUTT)

PILLS! PILLS! PILLS! 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2009 Salt N Pepa- "Whatta Man" Death to Montell Jordan and his fifteen minutes. Montell Jordan- "This Is How We Do It" Snoop Doggy Dogg- "Gin and Juice" Laid back... Deee-Lite- "Groove Is In The Heart" Warren G. (ft. Nate Dogg)- "Regulate" It's gonna win this tourney anyway. LL Cool J- "Mama Said Knock You Out" Fiona Apple- "Criminal" Jay-Z "Can I Get A..." Sure. Why not. Nirvana- "Heart Shaped Box" Stone Temple Pilots- "Interstate Love Song" It was a chore deciding which one I disliked less. This one, I guess. Smashing Pumpkins- "1979" I'm gonna be pissed if Don't Speak goes any further. No Doubt- "Don't Speak" Alanis Morrisette- "You Oughta Know" Who the hell voted for Losing My Religion? R.E.M.- "Losing My Religion" Tom Cochrane- "Life Is A Highway" Because life is a highway. Blind Melon- "No Rain" Soundgarden- "Black Hole Sun" Skee-Lo- "I Wish" I wish this DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince- "Summertime" California Love is overrated. Probably my least favorite Tupac single. 2Pac- "California Love" Dr. Dre (ft. Snoop Doggy Dogg)- "Nuthin But A G Thang" Beastie Boys- "Sabotage" Tough choice. Offspring- "Self Esteem Red Hot Chili Peppers- "Under the Bridge" This is easily the better song. Radiohead- "Creep" New Radicals- "You Get What You Give" I love Creep, but this song is better served to carry the torch for this tournament. Sinead O'Connor- "Nothing Compares 2 U" Faith No More- "Epic" No contest. Lisa Loeb & Nine Stories- "Stay" At least it's not a Hootie song. Hootie and the Blowfish- "I Only Wanna Be With You" Garbage- "Only Happy When It Rains" Meat Loaf- "I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)" Gotta give some props here. Czech please! 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2009 Stone Temple Pilots bore me. "Under the Bridge" isn't that good. "Creep" is one of my least favorite Radiohead songs.
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2009 I do love "Creep," but it's weak against the rest of their catalog and that New Radicals song is and has always been the jam. "Under the Bridge" isn't awful, but I'd pick any other song still in the contest over it. Except for "Self Esteem."
