kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2003 (edited) Here are the playoff brackets for each Conference: AFC: 1 – Gert T (New York Jets) 13-3 2 – Cuban_Linx (Tennessee) 10-6 3 – Canadian Chris (Denver) 10-6 4 – DrTom (Baltimore) 9-6-1 5 – Agent of Oblivion (Miami) 10-6 6 – tpww7 (Buffalo) 9-7 Notes: 1) Linx got the second seed over Chris due to a better TB score 135-155. 2) tpww7 got the last seed over the San Diego team because I eliminated the Chargers TB score after Week 15 and these two teams didn't face off in the regular season. 3) Tom is above Agent of Oblivion in the seeding because Tom is a division winner. NFC 1 – Swift Terror (Chicago) 11-5 2 – bravesfan (San Fran) 10-6 3 – Human Fly (Washington) 9-7 4 – fazzle (Carolina) 9-7 5 – Just_John (Dallas) 8-8 6 – Vern Gagne (Arizona) 8-8 Notes 1) Fly got the third seed over fazzle because Fly defeated fazzle in the regular season. 2) Just_John got the fifth seed over Vern because John defeated Vern in the regular season. 3) razazteca didn’t make the playoffs because a) He lost to Vern in the regular season, b) John has a better TB score 167-182. 4) barron and MD2020 didn’t make the playoffs due to the following: Barron and MD didn’t play Vern in the regular season and split each of their season series match-ups with John, so Vern and John beat out barron and MD in the next end-of-season tie-breaker, which was lowest TB score. This was due to the fact barron’s and MD’s TB scores were eliminated in Week 15. Here are this week’s matchups: AFC: Bye: Gert T (New York Jets), Cuban_Linx (Tennessee) tpww7 (Buffalo) 9-7 @ Canadian Chris (Denver) 10-6 Agent of Oblivion (Miami) 10-6 @ DrTom (Baltimore) 9-6-1 NFC: Bye: Swift Terror (Chicago) 11-5, bravesfan (San Fran) 10-6 Vern Gagne (Arizona) 8-8 @ Human Fly (Washington) 9-7 Just_John (Dallas) 8-8 @ fazzle (Carolina) 9-7 Here are the rules: 1) You must PM me your predictions and I will reveal them once everyone turns in their selections are made. The picks you make to me don’t have to be the same for bravesfan's contest. 2) In your PM you not only have to tell me who will win each game but also predict the number of points each team will score. SCORING: Whoever picks the most correct winners in each match-up advances to the next round. Example: * tpww7 picks Baltimore, Dallas, Green Bay and Denver to win. * Canadian Chris picks Baltimore, Dallas, Green Bay and Indy to win. * Baltimore, Dallas, Seattle and Denver win. * tpww7 beats Chris 3-2 If there is a tie then the first tie-breaker will be whoever was more accurate in picking the total scores for all four separate games. Example: * Vern Gagne picks Baltimore to win 7-3, Dallas to win 3-0, Green Bay to win 10-0 and Denver to win 9-7 * Human Fly picks Baltimore to win 7-0, Dallas to win 10-3, Seattle to win 14-0 and Indy to win 20-10 * Baltimore wins 10-0, Dallas wins 13-3, Seattle wins 20-17 and Denver wins 14-9. * Vern and Fly are tied at 3 correct picks each and move on to the first tie-breaker. * Vern had a total of 10 points selected in the Baltimore game (7 for Baltimore, 3 for Tennessee), Fly had 7 (7 for Baltimore, 0 for Tennessee). The final score total is 10, so Vern wins that game. * Vern had a total of 3 points selected in the Dallas game, Fly had 13. The final score total was 16, so Fly wins that game. * Vern had a total of 10 points selected in the Green Bay game, Fly had 14. The final score total was 37 so Fly wins that game. * Vern had a total of 16 points selected in the Denver game, Fly had 30. The final score was 23 so Vern and Fly TIE this game. * Fly defeats Vern 2 games to 1 in the first tie-breaker. If there is still a tie after the first tie-breaker, the second tie-breaker will be combining the total points of all four games and seeing who is closest to the total score of all four games – the first tie-breaker had all four games counted separately. If there is still a tie after the third tie-breaker then I’m going to shoot myself. But before I do I’ll flip a coin to determine the winner -- heads the “road” team wins, tails the “home” team wins. If you have any questions ask away. I would like predictions by midnight Thursday at the latest... Edited December 29, 2003 by kkktookmybabyaway

CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2003 Here's a suggestion...since we're picking the score of each game, not the total, instead of doing total points for each game, why not do difference between the predicted score and the actual score? For example, using your picks: * Vern Gagne picks Baltimore to win 7-3, Dallas to win 3-0, Green Bay to win 10-0 and Denver to win 9-7 * Human Fly picks Baltimore to win 7-0, Dallas to win 10-3, Seattle to win 14-0 and Indy to win 20-10 * Baltimore wins 10-0, Dallas wins 13-3, Seattle wins 20-17 and Denver wins 14-9. Human Fly would win the Baltimore game, with three points difference from the actual score vs. Verne's 6. (Human Fly got Tennessee's score exactly right while missing Baltimore's score by 3; Verne missed both teams' actual score by 3.) Human Fly would win the Dallas game, with 3 points difference vs. 13. Verne would win the Seattle game, with 20 points difference vs. 23. Verne would win the Denver game, with 7 points difference vs. 15. Hm. Tied. Anyway...if you're not using the actual score of the game as a tiebreaker, you may as well just ask us to pick totals and be done with it, instead of trying to figure out what the actual score will be. razazteca 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2003 Here's another odd happening. Vern (AZ) eliminated raz (Minn) from the playoffs in Week 17 via TB... Another odd thing is that I lost to the commish on a week that he did not make picks and lost to a phathom opponet who took the division. The secret society is holding me down. Fökai 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2004 (edited) Fuck my contest. The league was marred all year by my inability to calculate scores on a week-to-week basis. On Mondays and Tuesdays, I couldn't scrounge up enough time to accomplish this (process would take about 2 hours to complete), so I'd keep putting it off until it became a hassle to even post the prediction threads...thanks to KKK on that part for keeping the league alive in a small fashion. I'll definitely declare a regular season winner in the next few weeks, so until then, good luck with your predictions in THIS contest. kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2004 Come on Denver! I'm not even going to bother trying to figure out the score tie-breakers, but I hope they work out. I just did. ************ You bastards both tied regarding the TEN/BAL tie-breakers... Score: Tennessee 20, Baltimore 17 = 37 JJ: Tennessee 10 @ Baltimore 24 = 34 (3 points off) Faz: Tennessee 26 @ Baltimore 14 = 40 (3 points off) But the other game didn't bode well for you, JJ... Score: Dallas 10, Carolina 29 = 39 JJ: Dallas 20 @ Carolina 27 = 47 (8 points off) Faz: Dallas 18 @ Carolina 22 = 40 (1 point off) ************* Basically, you need Denver to win tomorrow and beat him in both "first-round" tie-breakers to win. (There's a chance of beating him in the second round of tie-breakers, but he's already up on you by 7 points in that department, too...)
fazzle 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2004 If I'm reading the tiebreakers correctly, I believe that TD by GB just gave me the win, no matter who wins the Denver/Indy game
