You're right. Whilst McFly are your standard teen morons, their popularity means that boybands at least have to write songs and play instruments now to be successful.

I hope you don't mind if I take your private life slap it on the table and split it...with a knife See, I'm still waiting for the Smog I ordered, but after I saw that lyric in a write-up I must say it seemed up my alley.

It's close. I can't really choose between them, but 'Don't Stop Believin' has become kind of a theme tune for me, so I guess my continued relationship with it is more of a social construct. Oh well.

Or gayed up. 0wned

Journey's Greatest Hits The Only Ones Yikes. I knew I'd cave in to the Journey, and now I have to listen to 'Don't Stop Believin' at least twice a day. 'Another Girl, Another Planet' and 'The Whole of the Law' off the second item on this list are fucking awesome.

See you at Earl's court on sat? Yep. I'll be dressed as a priest but with a black Mozfather t-shirt for the occassion. Just back from Brum. Really enjoyable gig despite two things - a) we were in seats... it's not right unless Morrissey knows you're there, and that means standing at the front. b) 'we' refers to me and my ex-girlfriend who bought the tickets ages ago when still together and then I was too much of a bastard to let her have my ticket. So that was kind of awkward, but didn't really spoil it. Great to hear Bigmouth Stikes Again live. The band play it brilliantly. Good lad. I was gonna try and get some priest garb but there's a christian in my uni hall who actually brings up christianity in every conversation ever, and can fuck off. Maybe some rosary beads. The gig has been placed in good stead by the image on the ticket being awesome. Any idea who's supporting on this one? I pray for sparks, but y'know.

'First of the Gang To Die' is utterly awesome, really. I accept he'll always be a love or hate artist, but that's a great pop song and one of the defining moments of his solo catalogue. Unashamedly, I much enjoyed 'Some Girls' by Rachel Stevens. And fuck it, I loved 'Laura' and 'Take your Mama' too.

We all know you're soft cos we've all seen you dancing We all know you're hard cos we've all seen you drinking From noon until noon again

'Just Lose It' is starting to grow on me, I think more people would like it if he'd released it three years ago, that's the problem with it. More samey than awful. That last 'aaaaaaiiiiiiighteeen...' Kings of Leon single was not only as pleasant as chewing foil with a mouthful of fillings but revealed that the band's true talent is to appear uglier when clean-shaven.

I think this is now going to be in my list forever. journey - Don't stop believin Sparks - Equator Morrissey - Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself The Wedding Present - Dare The Only Ones - Another Girl, Another Planet

Your avatar makes this funny. I'm going to have 'Don't Stop Believin' by Journey played at my wedding. I dance to the Scissor Sisters entirely too much these days. I managed to get a hard house fan into sparks at uni. Last saturday we went to John Peel tribute night at the Leadmill in sheffield, coinciding with my best friend's 21st, and it was the best thing ever. I got them to play wire. Has anyone got Abbatoir Blues/Lyre of Orpheus yet? I've not heard it.

I'd have to say razorlight were worse. Probably the worst band in Britain.

I've made about 4043 bad posts, but have eluded a slapped wrist thus far.

My family reckons my brother has this, he's not been formally diagnosed and he's not got any dire problems, he's just fairly introvert, and acts a lot younger than 18. It's a form of autism, so he has fairly encyclopaedic knowledge of trashy horror films and wrestling, (he does have a sense of irony) and discusses them with adults, getting on with all my friends (who are like 21). And were he to have a band, it would be good, I've decided. To an extent you grow out of it in some cases, he's come a long way in the last couple of years.

Agreed.

JBL's matches now aren't anything special but they're the best of his career.

Following on from page one, Pulp are ridiculously good and if you don't agree I'll kick your ass. Or at least fight you. In Sheffield. Outside term time. I think 'I Like Girls' is the only 100% awesome song on Sparks' fourth album, Big Beat, but the rest is still pretty good. Ditto for You Are the Quarry, the only moment of pop brilliance being 'First of the Gang To Die' and the rest being OK, working well with the clever self parodying style that was the focus of Mozza's comeback this year. 'Driver 8' is the only really great song on Fables of the Reconstruction.
