Yeah, but I'm comfortable with that. -
I recently saw Wayne's World II again for the first time in years, and while watching the movie, it struck me that at least 50% of the jokes were jokes from the original movie, only not as funny.

I just wanted to point out these these are the same Jedi's who couldn't even sense that Palpatine was a Sith Lord in the first place. Secondly, Spiff stole what I was gonna say. I think that when Anakin made up his mind, Mace had little/no time to react to it, and besides, if he moved towards Anakin and took his saber away from Palpatine, he was dead anyways. Thirdly, why does Mace not properly defending himself against Anakin really matter in terms of "Was Palpatine faking it"? Fourthly, I still can't see someone like Palpatine deliberately planning on being in such a vunerable position. As I've said, I think he planned to fight the Jedi, and I think he hoped Anakin would show up and save him, but I don't think he actually sat there and thought "Okay, then I'll let one of the best Jedi's in the galaxy put me in a terribly vunerable position just so I can convince this kid of something", because that makes little sense. I just don't see why someone who had been able to manipulate things so well (mostly from a distance) would all of a sudden purposely inject himself right into the heart of the action, and put his life into someone else's hands, when his plan was *this close* to fruition. It makes a hell of a lot more sense to me that he he planned to fight the Jedi, but got bested in lightsaber combat and ended up in more trouble then he originally anticipated. But then his plan of turning Anakin worked out anyways, so he didn't really care. But maybe that's just me. -
This is rapidly turning into an awful lot of hypotheticals. Also, I have to go to sleep, so let me sum up my entire position and I'll leave it at that. I think that there are certain circumstances where it may be necessary to spank a child for misbehaviour, though other punishments should be tried first.. I think that spankings should be few and far between; I think the basic idea that I'm getting at is that kids should *not* think that their parents are powerless to lay a finger on them, because that will only create further problems, especially once they get old enough to realize that the law is even more lenient then their parents were. Like, lemme put it this way: I honestly cannot recall ever being spanked by my parents, but I was sure, as a child, that they would have done so if I did something really bad. That prevented me from doing really bad things. To put it another way, I can't see how declaring parents to be bad people just for grabbing their children benefits the child. All they learn is that when their parents touch them, the *parents* get in trouble, not the child. The bottom line, to me, is that some punishments just don't work on some children, and sometimes you have to go a little bit further to get them to behave properly. But that's just my opinion, and I'm quite certain you disagree. I'm going to bed.
-
Then what do you do if you take away your kid's TV and their candy and their toys and they continue to do whatever the hell it is you're punishing them for? Do you just give up?
-
I'm aware of that, and I think that those kinds of things should be done before spanking. I'm not advocating spanking as the be-all, end-all of punishments; just that parents shouldn't be afraid to do it if it needs to be done.
-
Hopefully the spanking, since the whole point of it is to stop the child from repeating whatever behaviour led to the spanking in the first place. Wouldn't help much if they forgot about it two seconds later. Besides, what's wrong with having a fetish?
-
Also, by that logic, shouldn't children not be breastfed, since that could lead to a breast fetish?

He didn't drop his guard; Anakin, the guy who WAS ON HIS SIDE, cut his ARM OFF, leaving Windu totally fucking defenseless. Why should he have had a "guard" against Anakin? -
If more people were willing to give their kids a smack on the ass (since it's virtually impossible to cause serious damage with an open hand there) when they deserved it, this world would be a better place. Some kids just NEED to be taught that bad behaviour brings about negative consequences. Besides, as others have said, no one hit the kid, he was grabbed by the arm. I mean, what is society coming to when grabing your child's arm so he has to look at you while you're scolding him is somehow deemed wrong? To answer the original question, I'm honestly amazed you didn't start swinging at the woman.

1. Fire Pro D 2. No Mercy 3. Who cares? If you have the first two, you don't need any more.
-
Well, that pic implies that the Others are the people who started the whole project. So while I agree that it is possible, somehow I doubt it. Besides, there's been lots of crashes on that island. For all we know, they're just a random group of people who all got sick.
-
Hmmm...while the pic is kinda neat, it seems to me that if those people were on the island, they'd probably be in the hatch...unless, of course, there's another hatch.

You know, now I wonder if Obi-Wan or Yoda ever actually told Luke that Palpatine was more powerful in the Force then Darth Vader was. I mean, Luke doesn't seem aware of that fact, since after defeating Vader, he throws aside his lightsaber, apparantly confident that the Emperor wouldn't be able to do anything. And then, once Palpatine throws the first bolts, he says "Young fool. Only now, at the end, do you understand." Plus, his whole time training, they were warning him about Darth Vader, and how he must confront Vader and all that jazz. I dunno though, maybe I'm missing something. I mean, you'd think you'd want Luke to know that Palpatine was so powerful...unless they foresaw that the only way to defeat them was to convince Vader to turn back. Also, does it bug anyone else that when Vader is watching Palpatine fry Luke, he's most probably thinking "Oh God, what did I do to poor Mace?" I kinda figured that Amidala would end up being killed by Force Lightning somehow, so that he was remembering that, and making sure he didn't make the same mistake twice. -
I had sleep paralysis once; that sucked major balls. Of course, it was made worse by the fact I was having one of those dreams within a dream. I dreamt I was lying in bed (fancy that) and there was some sort of hideous monster outside my room. I dunno what it was, but it was there. So then I "woke" up. Relieved that I was now no longer dreaming, I rolled onto my back only to find that said hideous monster was now standing at the foot of my bed, and I became paralyzed. I then really woke up, in the same position I dreamt I woke up in, and I didn't move a muscle for 10 minutes; not because I was still paralyzed, but because I honestly didn't know if I was really awake, or if I was still in a dream. And if I had rolled onto my back to discover I was still dreaming, I think I would have dropped dead right there; I was just that terrified at the time. It was really fucked up, especially since my room looked totally normal in my dreams. That never happens - any place I dream about is totally fucked. Like, I'll dream I'm walking around my elementary school, and I'll walk into a classroom and suddenly I'm in my cousin's house, you know?

Drop his guard? Is that how one refers to getting their ARM SLICED OFF these days? Windu didn't drop his guard, and if Anakin wasn't there to tell him not to do it (thus buying precious seconds for Anakin to make his decision) Windu would have probably severed Palpatine's head before his face had time to get fucked up. Also, how is it "pretending" to be defenseless when you're actually defenseless? Palpatine had no lightsaber, and his Force Lighting was inneffective, since it was shown a few times in the movies that lightsabers are perfectly capable of deflecting Force Lightning. You know, the kind of lightsaber Mace Windu was holding right in front of his face. -

No, but Palpatine would have to be if his plan was "I'll lay here, with the best lightsaberist in the galaxy holding his saber three inches from my neck, then cross my fingers!" -
So, if the numbers are a secret code to stop...something...from happening, why are they written on the hatch? And weren't they being like, broadcasted as well?
-
You know, I have no idea if we even had one. All I know is, that prom was a horrific waste of money. I really wish I hadn't gone.
-
I think that's cuz Hogan just sorta walked out and said "Gee, wouldn't it be cool if I wrestled Stone Cold?"

Man, I wish I made $9.40 pushing carts at Wal-Mart. And I push carts at Wal-Mart. Seriously though, sometimes I wonder about some of these people. I mean, I work at Wal-Mart, and I can tell you that these jobs aren't WORTH $15 an hour, but to hear some people, that's what they deserve, goddammit.

But wasn't American Dad new? I know I'd never seen that one.
-
Wasn't Simpsons a repeat last night as well?

But again, by all accounts, Mace Windu is one of the most powerful Jedi. Like, #2, right behind Yoda. None of those other guys were, so Palpatine's skills against them don't mean much, in comparison. Also, on Starwars.com, it says this: in Palpatine's bio. I'd like to hear what Lucas has to say on the matter though. Part of me wants to say that I saw somewhere that he said that Windu beat Palpatine, but that could just be me being a crackhead. -
I think that Desmond is totally capable of doing it himself - it's just that in order for him to have done it, he would have had to put his gun down. By making Locke do it, he could keep the barrel pointed at Locke at all times.
