Well, when I'm the most prominent defender of a certain wrestler in this thread, and you come along pretty much calling all defenders of such wrestler an idiot, it kinda tends to be taken personally, ya know? And if it's Murmuring Beast who has the problem, and it's his thread that contains these comments you despise so much, why didn't you post this over there? But in any event, I can't see this going very well without resorting to blatant flaming, so I think the whole thing should be taken as something of a misunderstanding and dropped.

Yes, except when taking a TD '91, the guy will land on the back of his head and neck, not the top. Exact same thing really, only the guy tucks his head. And I assumed the name Tiger Bomb came about because the move technically is a sort of powerbomb, thus it makes more sense to use "bomb" and not "driver", even though Tiger Driver is what it was originally called.

I agree with Laz. If you try to talk things out, and it fails, then at least you tried. You didn't just charge in with all guns blazing. Besides, even if diplomacy fails in 90% of cases, I'd say that the lives saved in those 10% where it works, makes it worth it to try.

Hey Dammy, what the fuck is your problem? First off, show me where anyone seemed to be happy that Benoit isn't getting his shot. Go right ahead. Because I'm reading this thread, and I don't see it. Show me where anyone starting calling out smarks for liking Benoit. Go right ahead. Show me when anyone said anything along the lines of "you smarks are all fucking douchebags, etc." or whatever it was that you thought you read in this thread. Show me when anyone said that Benoit sucks. Show me when anyone was harping on smarks, outside of that FBP guy who was talking about something else entirely while doing it (the chances of certain people being cheered in certain situations, etc). Now, until you can do that, the least, the LEAST you could do is not jump around and say "boy, look at all these idiots!" without any real REASON to do so. This whole smark/anti-smark argument is total BS. Considering that I'm probably the biggest Holly supporter here, chew on this - I *like* Chris Benoit. He's one of my favourite wrestlers. I'd LOVE to see Benoit win the rumble and then the belt at WM. I think he deserves it. However, I also happen to like Hardcore Holly, and I'm happy that he's being given a chance here. If that means I've been going around spewing some sort of mythical, anti-smark rhetoric, then I'm sorry. I mean, there was that one guy who said that we need to give Hardcore a chance to prove that he's a good wrestler. Hell, I don't even think we need that - Holly's skills are known, and even I'll admit he's not on the same level as Benoit. Not even close. But since when does success in the fed rely on how skilled you are in the ring? Honestly now. And here's the key thing; all 3 or 4 of the Holly supporters agree on this one, critical point that, if you'd been paying attention, kinda renders your whole "argument" pointless: Benoit is going to get his title shot. So, unless pointing out that Holly's title shot won't ruin Benoit's chances, Benoit is going to get a shot, and that the rumble will draw anyway is "harping" on smarks, kindly shut the fuck up until you know what you're talking about. And don't toss around words like "idiot" when you don't even know what you're talking about. Thank you.

Since when? I don't have exact figures in front of me, but isn't the RR almost always one of the highest-drawing PPV's of the year? People will buy the show to see the rumble. They always have. They always will. One match on the card is not going to change that. And I honestly can't see many people having that conversation. Especially when you're talking about the Rumble.
-
So wait...you don't see it benefitting anyone...even though you just said that it'll probably benefit Brock's career? O...k. And like has been stated before - Brock/Holly doesn't NEED to be a money-making match. It WON'T be the main event. It probably won't be the semi-main event. The Royal Rumble is the money-making match. THAT is what is going to sell seats and get buyrates, like it always does. Brock/Holly will just be another match on the card, albeit one that features the champion. To be fair, in storyline terms, Holly ISN'T competing for the title. He doesn't want to wrestle Lesnar because he's the champ - he wants Lesnar because he broke Holly's neck. He wants revenge, not gold.
-
My GOD Agent, I'm simply SHOCKED by that statement...
-
Yeah, but that's different. Last year, it was Brock who we all knew was eventually going to gun for the title, while Benoit was wrestling Angle in the main event, simply to give him something to do in the meantime. This year, it's Benoit who's going to gun for the title, while Holly is going to hold his place at the RR, and then probably be forgotten about for six months afterwards. I still fail to see any problem with this. Oh, and I totally agree with what someone else said earlier - Holly/Lesnar should be under Hardcore rules, because not only will that allow Holly to wrestle in his element (I won't even try to pretend that Holly is a great wrestler, but in hardcore matches he can easily hold his own) and thus make the match appear better, but it'll follow the storyline better if they just beat the piss out of each other. They HATE each other, thus it makes more sense for them to slug it out, rather then trade holds. Oh, and Rock is ALWAYS the one to get booed if he's in a spot where the other guy might get cheered. It happened with Hogan, Austin, and Brock. It seems that people like Rock, but not when it comes down to the nitty-gritty.

I like their cover of Helloween's "I Want Out" and their "Fade to Black" is decent, if different. Outside of that, I've never been big into them...
-
I'm still not convinced that this is a big deal that's going to ruin Benoit's career or whatever. If, after the RR, Benoit is still treated like shit, then I may see your viewpoint; Until then, I still see this as a mere placeholder match, while they get the Benoit plan in action.
-
You hit the nail right on the head, Rudo. His QUEST for the title. Now, around this time of the year, when do quests for the title begin? Right, the Royal Rumble. When do they end? Wrestlemania. So how is Holly wrestling Lesnar in what is basically a placeholder match (Lesnar's finishing off this feud because there's not really many other guys for him to just squash at the RR to make him look strong) ruining Benoit's quest for the title? His quest is coming. But not right now. I mean, it wouldn't be much of a quest if it was right now, now would it?

I think that's probably why they've considered a Venom movie...he's a little to in-depth to be just a Spider-Man villian.
-
He may have said "Brock" instead of Eddie... But in either case, I think that's what they're shooting for, because that was Brock's role in at least some things. I'm gonna go see if I can find an online script and double-check. And while I would like to see Venom, I can't say I'd complain if they used guys like Scorpion and the Lizard first.
-
No, he's mentioned for about half a second. When JJ is looking at the photos Peter brought, he says something like "This is 10 times better then the crap that Eddie photographs!" which is really close to the character, if I recall. I seem to remember that Peter took over Eddie's job as the photographer, thus why Venom hates Spider-Man so much. Venom knows that Peter Parker is Spider-Man, so he knows that not only did Peter steal his job by taking great pictures of Spider-Man, but he is Spider-Man, so he fucking HATES him. That might not be the exact right spot in the movie, but JJ DOES mention him. Oh, and what they *need* to do if they want to get Venom in the movie is to steal the storyline from the FOX cartoon. In fact, I've already thought of what I consider to be a plausible way to work it in... Now, I've heard that JJ's nephew is supposed to be in this flick. He's also an astronaut. What they should do, is this: At the start of the movie (or nearabouts) have it come out that J's nephew is returning from a space mission which discovered two things: One thing they don't know what it is, and another that seems to be a very powerful radiactive element or something. In any case, one of the things is the symbiote, and the other is something that Doctor Octopus wants, BAD. There's a million ways they could fix that in - maybe he wants it to complete a new superweapon - it doesn't really matter. So they go about the rest of the movie, and by the end, Spidey and Doc Oc are battling on or about the landed spacecraft (whether it crashed or landed normally is irrelevant, so long as they get on the ship before anything is removed). During the battle, Oc manages to get Spidey's mask off, but Spidey clouds up Oc's glasses with web so he can't see him. Spidey runs to hide to find something to protect his identity, as Oc cleans his glasses and comes looking for something. Now, I've HEARD that the symbiotes are capable of appearing as something that someone needs, in order to ensnare someone. If that's not true, oh well - it's not like they're above changing things. Anyway, Spidey sees the symbiote...in the form of a black mask. With no other real option, he puts it on, and finishes off Doc., the movie progresses as normal. Then, just before the end, have Spidey realize what he's found - some sort of element (he believes) that can change into a whole outfit for him, and back to regular clothes, making things much more convienent - besides, the symbiote would have some sort of mental hold, preventing him fromjust tosing it away. The last shot of the movie is Spider-Man swinging around in the Venom outfit. Then, at the start of the next movie, then can say it's however far (6 months to a year) into the future, and Spider-Man's realized that there's something wrong with this suit, and he needs to ditch it. Neato scene with the church bell, Brock walks by, bada-bing, bada-boom, there's your third movie. Man, I put too much thought into this.... Oh, and that trailer is BAD ASS. Doc Ock looks SWEET.

You know, in 2000, Bob Holly was my favourite wrestler. I'm dead fucking serious. I love the Big Shot gimmick. Today, he's not my favourite wrestler, but he's up there. I think he's got a great character currently (he's just a jackass, which is great, because everyone thinks he's a jackass anyway) and I really like the feud with Brock. As someone said, it's so old-school. "You broke my neck, you bastard." It's refreshing to have a feud that isn't based on some stupid crap, but some real, down-to-earth, old-school WRESTLING angles. But seriously, what's the problem? It's PAINFULLY obvious that Benoit WILL get a title shot at Brock. Personally, I think it's kinda obvious right now that he's gonna win the Rumble, and go on to Mania, though that could easily change in the next few months. But seriously, what's the problem with the guy main-eventing ONE fucking PPV? Hell, he won't even be in the main event. Hell, it might not even be the semi-main event - The World Title and RR matches will probably be after it. Holly wrestling Lesnar is not going to make the Rumble draw less. The Rumble will draw, because it's the Rumble. Period. Also, it'd look dumb for them to just throw this feud away. Hardcore comes back from a serious injury, cheap-shots Brock at every chance, and suddenly just fades away? No thanks. I like angles with conclusions. I look at it this way: It gives Lesnar someone different to wrestle, on one PPV, where the focus will NOT be on that match, while Benoit is built up to wrestle Brock for the match that matters. I don't think it's a big deal, really, and I think you're all freaking over a throw-away match for no real reason.

I'd like to look further into that... I'm almost positive that I can recall Bret doing an in-ring promo, and then DX popped up on the screen. I seem to recall that HHH and HBK made some big dick jokes (big surprise, eh?) and it seemed to be leading to a HHH/Bret match down the road. But I'm legit almost positive that Bret said something along the lines of "You're just a bunch of Degenerates. Degeneration X, that's all," to which HBK replied "Hey, I kinda like that..." Are there any sites which would have this kind of info?

The Metal Maniac replied to dutchse.cx's topic in No Holds Barred
I can't see that as being a good idea... I can just picture Dutch cowering in a corner by 8 AM... "Can't sleep...Fish will eat me...can't sleep...fish will eat me..." -

When you start to feel yourself falling asleep, stab yourself in the arm with a pencil. I bet that'll keep you up. -
And for the record, it was Bret Hart who first called them De-Generation-X, if memory serves...

Camera Phone Bans Seen as Aiding Privacy
The Metal Maniac replied to MrRant's topic in Current Events
Not only perverts can use these phones to their advantage. A buddy of mine got an early copy of an exam thanks so someone's camera-phone. I do feel that the phones should have to make a noise when a photo is taken though - It's not like that'd hurt anyone, and it could prevent potential mishaps and such. -
I voted for the second option. I dunno...I've always been told that marriage is a man and a woman. That union. If a man and a man want to be in some sort of union, that doesn't bother me...I just wouldn't call it a marriage. I think that they should have the same rights and all - it's just that I don't think it should be called the same thing, because really, it's not.

Hurricane gets "Stern Talking to" Backstage
The Metal Maniac replied to tpww7's topic in The WWE Folder
I understand his gimmick. He thinks he's a superhero. The keyword is THINKS. That's why it was funny when he tried to chokeslam people like the Big Show. He thought he had super-strength. He doesn't. So Big Show clocked him. But I mean, isn't Test like, 6'6"? And isn't Helms like, a cruiserweight? It's just silly to have him hit a move like that on people so much bigger then him. The chokeslam has pretty much ALWAYS been a "big-man" move. So why should he just suddenly start using it as a legit move? I mean, if he goes for it and gets stomped, fine. But when he HITS it...whoo boy... -
Possible, though it's a hell of a lot more likely that they're just ignorant, because they're 4.
-
See, like I said...it gets better, though there's still a few on there that have NO place whatsoever (NIRVANA?????) I'm lovin' the continued Iced Earth presence.

Ok, while I'm all for a good tale of the Darwin awards and the like, I don't think this qualifies, on account of the person involved wasn't STUPID; They were FOUR. That just ain't funny.
