What about the characters and the great individual episodes? Spike, Jet, Ed and Faye are some of the best characters I've seen in anime. And most of the episodes are just great (especially Cowboy Funk, Toys in the Attic and Pierrot Le Fou)
The characters do not develop in any way by the end of the series. The only character that reaches any sort of revelation is Faye.
Actually I have to disagree with all the Bebop and Kenshin love.
Besides the T&B OVA's you have one good series and two filler series. Even then its a pretty corny series. Don't even get me started on the reflection OVA.
Bebop has good visuals and a fantastic score, but lacking in just about every other department.
Well if you like the whole cult/horror thing go with boogiepop phantom. Lots of short stories which tie up with each other.
And Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust is a snoozefest.
Also to anybody wanting to watch some good new anime I would suggest Gungrave.
I find it a bit odd that Fighters and action games have to share the same genre where puzzle and simulation games have a whole section to themselves.
Action - Gunstar heroes (Megadrive)
Adventure- Sonic 2 (Megadrive)
Driving- Daytona USA 2 (arcade)
Puzzle- Uh, puzzle bobble (Neo-geo)
Role-Playing- Kingdom hearts (PS2)
Simulation- Dont care
Sports- EDIT: Pending...
Strategy- Dont care
Fighting (Yes it wont count but hey I'm putting it in here)- King of fighters 98.
Rena (dont care either way)
Nina – Breath of Fire (Series)
Ryu – Breath of Fire (Series)
Alex – Lunar: The Silver Star Story because golden sun sucks a fat one
Cless – Tales of Phantasia
Mega Man – Mega Man Battle Network
Lharl – Disgaea: Hour of Darkness
Link – Legend of Zelda (Series)
Sora – Kingdom Hearts
Crono – Chrono Trigger
Luna – Lunar: The Silver Star Story
Ramza – Final Fantasy Tactics
Serge – Chrono Cross, whats with all the golden sun?
Mia – Golden Sun vs Cloud – God which one do I pick? Urgh I guess Cloud cause as previously mentioned golden sun sucks a fat one.
Nes – Earthbound
Tir – Suikoden (piss off golden sun)
As we established, it wasn't the only game like that, just the most popular. Even if it hadn't been around, things wouldn't have been much different, if at all.
And the fact that MK was never over in Japan. I fail to see how it influenced RE.
