I was kind of hoping the Yankees would win, mostly because of my hatred of Jeffrey Loria, but now I'm glad they lost. I can understand being upset that they didn't win a series that they should have, but talk about ungrateful. Every fan of 28 other teams would give anything to be in your place right now, and you're blaming the loss on some pitcher who gave up 1 hit the whole series. Shit, you don't deserve a team with 26 World Championships.

This is why I love CityTV. Showcase, too.

I hate this whole 'hockey is all Montreal cares about' viewpoint in this situation, when hockey isn't even the biggest sport in Montreal right now. If the baseball fans in Montreal hadn't been dicked around like they have been since the '94 strike, the Expos wouldn't be in this situation. Like has been said, even the most hardcore baseball city would get frustrated when every year there are noises about the team leaving, the best players are either not re-signed or traded away, ownership tells you that the stadium is a piece of shit in order to build their case to build a new one, and you can't watch most of their games on TV. Yup, it's all Montreal's fault, those hockey loving bastards.

BOLD PREDICTION: The Jays are going to win the AL Wild Card, finishing 2nd in the division to the Red Sox.
-
Well, if they do have to do this this year, hopefully they schedule it a little better. No more Montreal -> Miami -> Philadelphia ->San Juan or San Juan to Seattle trips, please. Oh, and re-sign Vlad.
-
They still fell off, regardless of the reason.
-
Yeah, I don't expect Loria to sell off this team, but I don't think he'll be able to re-sign a lot of his free agents, especially since someone's going to offer Pudge a ton of cash this year. The Phillies will probably win the division next year, but I don't think the Marlins will fall as far as the Angels did this year.

That one reminded me a lot of McGwire's 62nd. Gotta love Jeff Weaver.
-
I'm sure Fox would prefer to use actual words.
-
Where was that Jeff Weaver all year? I guess he works best on 28 days rest.
-
Well, I guess Urbina still had some curse left in him. Thank you, Babe.

I just wanted to add on to this. At my house, we had this little pool-type thing where we would pick the winners of the series and how many games it would take. I honestly didn't think the Leafs had a shot in hell, especially since they had sucked the meat missle down the stretch, but I couldn't not choose them, so I picked them to win it in 4. I got shit on by everyone, even worse because I'm the only Leafs fan in my family. My dad (a huge Sens fan) was out of town for game 4, he was lucky. Probably the happiest I've ever been after any Leafs' series.

Yeah, but he didn't do much of anything in Montreal and since he was traded for Pedro, he should have been able to walk on water, or something.
-
I was kind of hoping that Pavano had some of that curse in him from his days as a Red Sox farm hand. Oh well.

I don't know if it's been covered here, but I half expected Watts to overturn the decision like he did in the tag match. Was there a reason that he wouldn't, especially since he SAW Jarrett use the belt on AJ? The rest of the show was decent, though.

I had one for lunch today and it was OK. Nothing special, and even though I wasn't quite prepared for it to be spicy (it's not too spicy, but enough so that you notice it), I'd probably have another one if I get myself to McDonald's again before they stop selling them.

Article This sucks. Eugene Melnyk wanted to buy it and renovate it so that his OHL team could play there, but they didn't want the competition for the ACC, apparently. God, this pisses me off.

It's not supposed to rain all week down in Miami, is it?

-The Jays winning the '92 and '93 World Series, even though I was kind of young and didn't appreciate it like I probably should have. -Both the men's and women's hockey teams winning the hockey gold at the 2002 Olympics. The women in the face of some of the worst officiating ever seen. -As for the Leafs, well, I guess them sweeping the Sens in '01 was nice, if only because NO ONE gave them any chance at all, as they played like shit for the last few months of the season, coupled with the fact that the Sens swept the season series from them.

If Tom's so smart, why didn't he just change the name himself?

This show was really bad, with the Zimmer skit being the worst, although Versace wasn't far behind.

Hockey: -Leafs/Flyers last year in game 7, talk about a stomach punch. Losing game 4 in triple OT sucked, too, especially since Belfour played awesome (70+ saves) except for the 2 weak goals he let in in regulation. -Leafs losing 3 OT games to Carolina in the 2002 Conference Finals. -Sundin leads the Leafs to an awesome 3rd period comeback of game 2 of the Leafs/Devils series in '01, only to lose it in OT. The Leafs had a HORRIBLE 2nd period (I think they gave up 4 or 5 goals) and if that doesn't happen, they probably win the series and could have very well gone all the way to the Finals (at least in my mind). -Sabres beating the Sens in overtime of game 7 in 1997 (I was cheering for Ottawa here, since it was so unbelievable that they were actually IN the playoffs). -Canada losing in a shootout in the gold medal game in the '94 Olympics and the semi-finals in '98. 2002 MORE than made up for all that, though. Baseball: -Thankfully, I wasn't old enough to know what was going on when the Jays blew a 3-1 lead to the Royals in the '85 ALCS or their collapse down the strech in '87, and that I wasn't born when the Expos lost in the '81 NLCS to the Dodgers on Rick Monday's homerun, but if I were a few years older, they'd be up there. -The Jays having a shot to make the playoffs in 98-00, but folding up in September. -The ending of both this year's LCS. The only permutation that I did not want to see happen at all, we got. If I cared enough about basketball, I would probably list Vince Carter's shot bouncing out at the end of game 7 vs. the 76ers, but since I'm fickle, I'll put an asterisk beside it.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the legend goes that the curse placed on them said that they would never play another World Series game again (or something along those lines), and, since then, they haven't.

The Preds, Stars, and Wild's 3rd jerseys all blow (as do most of the one's in the NHL [a few excluded [Toronto and Ottawa come to mind], with the Bruins leading the way). Also, and I don't know why, I don't like how the Canucks have their original logo as shoulder patches now, it just bugs me. Speaking of the Canucks, personal opinion says that their skateblade sweaters were their best, although I do dig their current dark uniforms. When I was 10 or so, I hated the Nordiques, probably mostly due to the fact that they sucked, but probably also because I had no idea what their logo was supposed to be. Looking back, though, I realize how good they are compared to a lot of the shit that's out there today. On the topic of Quebec, I remember a few years back while looking aroudn the 'net, I learned that they had planned to change their uniform for the 1995-96 season. The logo was a wolf, I believe, and I also think that there was some silver in the new colour scheme. I think they planned to still wear their old sweaters a few times a year, though. Of course, they moved to Colorado before any of this could happen. The Carolina jerseys are decent, but not as good as the ones they wore for the last few years in Hartford. The pea green ones were God awful, but when they incorporated the teal and the grey in there, the quality shot way up. I also prefer the Gretzky-era King sweaters, although the current ones are decent.

Is it wrong to hope that a someone hits a screaming foul ball into Jeffery Loria's seat, hits him in the head, and puts him in a coma?
