I'm happy to announce that my fiance, who some of you may remember as Sydney Sky, is pregnant! She's just about eight weeks along, and we're currently looking at a due date of October 14th. Therefore Ian will have a baby brother or sister, and TBS will have someone new to challenge at next year's From the Fire. So, um... w00t!

SWF Stats Thread - 2006 Edition

Longdogger Pete Smartmarks Board Name: Longdogger_Pete Real Name: Peter MacDougal Nicknames: LDP, Miami Menace, One Man Wrecking Crew, the Doggah Height: 6' 6" Weight: 277 Hometown: Miami, Florida Age: 39 Face/Heel: Face Stable: None Ring Escort: None Preferred Weapon(s): Pete prefers straight-up wrestling to hardcore-style matches (though he does surprisingly well in those types of matches). Quotes and Catchphrases: "There's a reason I'm a champion in this bid'ness... and you ain't it!" "Are you ready for the LONGDOGGAH!" "DOGGAH IN THE HOUSE!" Looks: Pete has tanned skin and short, balding bleach-blonde hair. He usually wears dark sunglasses and a black leather jacket backstage or on his way to the broadcast table. These days Pete wrestles in a solid black T-shirt (or occasionally an LDP "Doggah in the House" or "True Champion" T-shirt to help sell some merchandise) and black or gray jean shorts. On the rare occasion that Pete wrestles, he also wears black knee pads and leg braces to help protect his weakened limbs. Pete has picked up a few pounds since he was last active, but has stayed generally healthy while working as a broadcaster. Ring Entrance: OH, MY GOD! INCREDIBLE SUPERSTAR! A white pyrotechnic explosion erupts across the stage, and the entrance fills with smoke. Pete steps out of the smoke and walks down the ring, slowly and deliberately in tune with his entrance music, "Baseline" by Quarashi, slightly remixed to begin with the chorus and continue with the second verse of the song. Baseline, baseline we’ve got fools on the case and their giving me baseline Baseline, baseline Baseline, baseline we’ve got fools on the case and their giving me baseline Baseline, baseline Now we’re back in the game The Quarashi pain it’s plain I see the suckers fall out and the fuckers call out Pick me up. But they don’t know what it’s about I do my shit on the mic and I’m pleasing the crowd Jump back, get back or else your getting a smack on your face just like your daddy used to smack you way back in the days This ain't no silly ass game I’m playing hear what I’m saying, now start praying Stats: Strength: 7 (he's big, overbearing, and intimidating. very few opponents are larger than him) Speed: 3 (he has short bursts of speed, particularly at the beginning of the match, but usually not his strong point) Vitality: 5 (he can last through longer matches if necessary but isn't used to them) Charisma: 5 (he's developed some mike skills over the course of his career) Style: Mostly power with some technical ability and a few crowd-pleasing moves thrown in for spice. Pete's size and strength also comes in handy during hardcore-style matches, which he seems to have a knack for, though he prefers ordinary singles matches for the chance to test skill vs. skill. He is also fond of the match he invented, the rare Miami Mayhem match. Signature moves: 1) Lo' Dogger (Low Blow. Not used very often; "dirty fighting" isn't really Pete's style.) 2) Second rope diving elbow (Pete rarely risks his career with top rope moves) 3) Perfect Dark (double leg pickup with bridged pin attempt) 4) Dogg Pound (Standing Lou Thesz press) 5) Manhattan Drop 6) German Suplex (sometimes held in place for a bridged pinfall attempt or performed as multiple "rolling" suplexes) 7) Samoan Drop 8) Figure four leg lock 9) Longdogger Denial (This move is a reversal to an enziguri. If a smaller, faster opponent performs a spinning heel kick, Pete catches his leg in midair. Should the opponent then bring up his other leg in an enziguri, Pete senses the move and catches that leg as well, slamming the hapless opponent upside down into the mat. Great way to shift momentum against a cruiserweight opponent when Pete can't outrace him.) 10) Chokeslam (on lighter opponents only) Common moves: 1) Pumphandle Slam 2) Kicks to the groin or midsection 3) Arm Bar 4) Spear 5) Multiple hard right overhand punches (Pete almost always starts a match with this maneuver to gain an early advantage. He also uses this as a comeback move late in the match to help regain his momentum.) 6) Angry stomps to the chest of a grounded opponent 7) Elbow Drop 8) Sleeper Hold (so Pete can catch his breath; he's not as young as he used to be. Used often in longer matches.) 9) Crossface submission 10) Standing Leg Drop 11) Second rope Leg Drop 12) Arm Wrench 13) Scissor kick 14) Sharpshooter 15) Big boot to the face Rare moves: 1) Longdogger Legdrop (diving leg drop off the top rope. Pete signals for this by holding his hand up with his thumb and forefinger in an "L" shape. Pete rarely uses this move now due to his leg injuries.) 2) Choke Toss 3) Top rope diving elbow (as noted above, top rope moves are very risky on Pete's body and he rarely uses them) Finishers: 1) Longdogger Clogger (double arm DDT, performed quick and dirty) 2) Musclehead Slam (military press slam. This can be done on a heavier opponent if set up with an Irish whip. Pete uses the momentum of the return trip to lift his opponent. Pete usually goes for the Musclehead Slam if his opponent kicks out of the Clogger, in higher-profile matches.) Titles Held: AWF Heavyweight (7/24/00 - 8/13/00) AWF Heavyweight (12/30/00 - 1/15/01) AWF Heavyweight (3/25/01 - 4/1/01) IGNJL European (5/16/01 - 5/23/01) IGNJL European (7/21/01 - 7/25/01) IGNJL European (10/7/01 - 10/24/01) IGNJL Tag/Stables (12/15/01 - 12/20/01) IGNJL World (12/20/01 - 1/16/02) IGNJL Tag/Stables (1/30/02 - 2/17/02) SWF Hardcore Gamers (3/31/02 - 4/28/02) Notes/Bio: Peter MacDougal is an experienced wrestler and champion, recording three world title reigns in the independent AWF (Arilyn Wrestling Federation) in Central Florida. Pete valued his time in the independent leagues as it taught him how to truly act and feel like a champion, even while not currently holding a belt. Pete speaks with a clipped Southern accent and tends to get on the microphone and rant when he's angry about something. Since his debut in the IGNJL, Pete moved up to the mid-card level fairly quickly, mostly thanks to Apostle's formation of X Force 9, arguably the most dominant face stable in IGNJL/SJL history. Pete had a continuous feud with Mistress Sarah, his former friend and ally (not to mention five-time champion) in the AWF. On May 23, 2001, Pete defeated Trash for the IGNJL European title, but lost the belt seven days later to Sarah. The loss only strengthened Pete's resolve. On the final episode of IGNJL Wrath (before the merger of the IGNJL and IGNML), Pete defeated Triple E in the first Miami Mayhem match. Two more Miami Mayhem matches would occur during LDP's Junior League career, including his final IGNJL match, in which he was victorious over Xero. Two more European titles would follow, but the ultimate prize was yet to come. Five days before Christmas 2001, Pete finally won his most sought-after championship, defeating the Boston Strangler and Ash Ketchum in a triple threat match for Strangler's IGNJL world title. Pete held the title for almost a month, but tragedy soon struck. On January 16, 2002, an unknown attacker critically injured Pete backstage, and Pete was hospitalized for nearly a month. IGNJL commissioner Edwin MacPhisto had no choice but to vacate the title. Upon returning, Pete revealed that his attacker was the Boston Strangler himself. Pete vowed to exact vengeance on Strangler, following him all the way to the IGNWF. Strangler disappeared shortly after Pete's arrival in what is now known as the SWF, so Pete never got his one on one match with Strangler, but he did score a win over Mistress Sarah at Battleground 2002 to secure the SWF Hardcore Gamers title. Proving his win wasn't a fluke, he retained in a rematch against Sarah the following week in a brutal steel cage match. After losing the belt to Stryke three weeks later, Pete took a break from SWF competition. He made his return over the summer of 2002, quickly recruiting allies to reform the now-defunct X Force 9 with an SWF incarnation. Despite previous feuds with nearly all of them, Pete recruited several new members, unleashing his team on the SWF with the goal of becoming a new dominant force upon the league. Several months later, Pete was forced into an early retirement when feuds with Chris Wilson and Perfect Bo caused excessive damage to his legs, forcing him into rehabilitation with the chance he might never wrestle again. After healing, Pete took a position with the SJL as a road agent, and while training the newest SJL talent, he also honed his own skills for an eventual SWF return. The return came in 2003 when SWF creative control forced Pete into a teaming with Frost. The pairing was short-lived, culminating in a failed attempt to wrest the SWF Tag Team titles away from Justice and Rule. Afterwards Pete returned to his road agent career, and soon was promoted to Head of SJL Creative Control, up until the league's dissolution in January 2004. Pete was jobless for a year, and spent his time working across the country for multiple independent leagues. The work was grueling and demeaning for the veteran performer, but he kept at it, determined to keep his name from fading from the limelight entirely. Fortunately, in January 2005 Pete was re-hired by SWF as the new play-by-play announcer for all SWF broadcasts, teaming with Suicide King for Lockdown, Smarkdown, and Storm shows, and he has held this position ever since. -
What, no love for the Doggah?
-
So did Jacob Helmsley.
-
I seem to remember TNT being in there at our strongest point. Someone help me out here. And yes, SoS was in the original incarnation of XF9, and our first leader was Apostle - have you beaten him?
-
Wait, I think I just got them all. I think all these people were members, but it's been a long time. LDP (duh), Sarah Leavenworth (manager), Ash Ketchum, TNT, Tod deKindes, GoldenEye, Erek Taylor, Low Brass, and Annie Eclectic.
-
If you got all four, then my guess is the fourth was Low Brass. Another fun fact. The SWF version of XF9 at one point did actually have nine people in it. Thought it would take me awhile to remember all nine of them now.

Moments after a pre-show SWF staff meeting, most of the staff, including general manager Joseph Peters, have filed out of the conference room. Two staff members remain behind: SWF play by play announcer Longdogger Pete, and color commentator Suicide King. The latter carries a stack of notes containing information on the evening's Smarkdown show and list of scheduled matches. The pair discuss approaches they want to take in calling each match, and relevant points to bring up. "So we've got an explosive main event," says King, "with most of the big names and titles represented in the six-man tag." "Talk about throwing all your eggs in one basket," says Pete. "Touche," says King. "Oh, and a Cruiserweight title rematch, that oughta be a good one." "Don't forget to overhype From the Fire," says Pete, "now that CC has finalized an airdate." "Right," says King. He pauses. "So Pete... what did she say?" "What?" Pete looks confused. "What did who say?" "Avery," replies King. "Coyote's girl, or whoever the hell she is. She spoke to you, didn't she?" "Oh. Yeah, she did." "So what happened?" Pete shrugged. "It wasn't a very long discussion, King. She said she wanted to meet me in person, where Coyote wouldn't be able to snoop on us. I think she was implying that he may be a little controlling of her, and she doesn't like that." "Really." King raises an eyebrow. "She give you a time and place?" Pete nods. He pulls a small piece of paper out of his shirt pocket and hands it to King. "Some club a little ways outside of town, two hours before Smarkdown." "Hmm." King reads over the paper carefully before handing it back to Pete. "You do realize it's an ambush, right?" "I suspected it might be," answers Pete. "Are you sure?" "Look who you're asking," says King - indeed, one of the greatest heel champions in the business, with the ego to match. "She set it up just before the show, so everyone else will already be at the arena. And it's outside of town so there's no chance of Janus or any other Clan goons interfering in your business. It's a perfect set up. Coyote will be there waiting to attack you. I bet this Avery chick won't even be there." He pauses a moment to let that sink in. "So here's what you do. Either you show up there ready to inflict some damage, or you don't show up at all. Make him come to you. Now if it were me," and at this King smiles a wicked smile, "I'd take the first option, and screw the consequences." Pete nods slowly. "Thanks... but I have to ask. Why are you trying to help? It's no secret that you don't like me." King nods. "You're damn right, Pete. I don't like you. But I'll do anything to avoid having Ben Hardy in your chair again. Honestly, you don't know what it's like having to listen to that guy nonstop for two hours!" King's smile fades just as quickly as it came, and there was no evidence that it was ever there. "Where were we? The Cruiserweight match." Pete nods, feeling a bit more confident about the day ahead, and the actions he knew he would have to take. Later that day, two hours before show time in fact, nobody notices when a black Ford Mustang tears out of the arena's parking lot, speeding off to its inevitable destination.

It was very good for the limited information you had. And you were right about LDP and Renegade being friends through XF9. Since XF9 was not only a face stable, but also an underdog face stable since there was another one out there (Midnight Carnival) Pete made a point of connecting with his stablemates on a more personal level than say, Clan members would. Except Ash. Oh, yeah, and Tod.

I can see why people would think Toxx was a ringer. I also thought Zed was a ringer for a long time - he knew everything about the fed. Turns out he had been lurking for, like, a year.
-
ONE MORE TIME FOR THE RENEGADE MASTAAAAA!!!!! Seriously, I totally marked out for the return of the Renebreak. Even knowing it was coming didn't ruin it. But I gotta ask one question. What's X Factor Nine?
-
Wildchild, Sydney Sky is before your time? Wow, I really must be getting old. Well, to answer your question, yes, she is Ian's mother. Her character was in the SJL, where she was a member of XF9, then turned heel and became part of Havoc. She tag teamed with Annie Eclectic (America's Sweethearts I think?) and had a main event storyline with Frost. She had a JL European and a JL World title reign, and then left shortly after, having never gone on to the SWF. She did make a couple of promo appearances in the SWF, but never made an in-ring return. Oh, yeah, and she created the Daybreak pedigree that was later used by Annie. Finally, some people are under the impression that the character is confined to a wheelchair due to the broken (freaking) neck that ended her career. Some people are mistaken.

SWF Wrestler of the Month & Historian's Rankings
Longdogger_Pete replied to Longdogger_Pete's topic in Smarks Wrestling Federation
The Wrestler of the Month is based on your activity for the last month alone (it includes wins and losses, but also factors such as multiple opponents and title wins or defenses). The full rankings are based on your activity over the last *two* months, however it is weighted so that the last month counts for two-thirds of your score, and the month before that counts for the other one-third. Hope that answers your question. -
SWF Wrestler of the Month & Historian's Rankings

Rankings edited to display the names that left the list after being on January's list. Congratulations to Akira Kaibatsu on a great month! -
GOdrea's voice sounds like Sara from Knights of the Dinner Table. No offense to GOdrea if you get the reference. Dude, I want in on one of these if you do another.

Well I certainly can't use it now!

SWF Smarkdown Card for 2/27/06!
Longdogger_Pete replied to Toxxic's topic in Smarks Wrestling Federation
Pete will definitely make it back in time for Smarkdown. Unfortunately a clause in my contract prohibits me from telling you any more than that. -
"Too soon..." Longdogger Pete performs his daily workout routine backstage in the locker room. He talks to himself as he performs a series of chin-ups, breathing out each line as his chin creeps over the height of the vertical bar. "Too soon to hang it up." He has doubled the length of his workouts ever since being assaulted in the ring by his biological son, Kevin Coyote - ever since the possibility of a return to action first presented itself. "To call it a career." Many of his exercises focus on maintaining his formidable arm and upper body strength, his knees having suffered permanent injury years ago, having been weakened in his later years on the SWF active roster. "To admit defeat." The man who at one time was powerful enough to have thrown a man through a car windshield, strong enough to have lifted Kaimen Roja off his feet and down a flight of stairs, now struggles with the mere act of suspending his own body weight off the ground. "To give up - arrgh!" Pete's hand slips, and he loses his grip on the bar, tumbling to the floor. He lands on his feet, and his knee braces protect him from most of the impact, but the absorption of the fall is still a lot for him to take. He stumbles back a step, rubbing at his sore wrist. "Pete. Take five." Pete looks up in surprise - the voice comes from SWF general manager Joseph Peters, who is standing in the doorway to the locker room. "How long have you been standing there?" "Long enough to see you're overworking yourself," answers Peters. "You know, Pete, I've been a little concerned ever since I saw you challenge Kevin Coyote on TV." "Concerned?" Pete sits down to catch his breath as he eyes the general manager. Peters nods. "I don't want my prized announcer killing himself. You do realize your last contract was just a standard announcer contract, right? I'm legally under no obligation to allow you back in the ring again." "Save it, Joe," Pete replies. "This is something I have to do, and I'd prefer it if you didn't get in my way." "I'm not going to get in your way," says Peters. "I'm only urging you to exercise caution. Think about what you're doing and why you're doing it... and whether the reward is really worth the risk you're taking." "Your concern is noted," says Pete. "Now if you'll excuse me. I need to finish." Peters nods. "We'll talk later, Pete." He turns to exit the locker room, passing an SWF tech worker as he leaves. The techie approaches Pete, handing him a cellular phone. "Mr. MacDougal, you've got a phone call." "Thanks," says Pete as he takes the phone. The techie nods and rushes out. Pete puts the phone to his ear. "Hello?" "...speaking. Who is this?" "...Avery who?"
-
Longdogger Pete is 39 (he'll be 40 in a few months). When I first started playing the character (back in 2001!) he was 34, with the storyline that he already had a 13-year career behind him in another league. To my knowledge, he is the oldest active character to have competed in the SWF, with the exception of Judge Mental. And yes, at that age it's certainly possible he could attempt a comeback. However it's also been documented that his career has been shortened due to serious injuries. Pete fought in a lot of hardcore-style matches, and toward the end of his run, some of his feuds (Chris Wilson, Perfect Bo) really did a number on him. But hey... never say never.
-
Might not be able to help that. It's a short series, kind of a character study if you will. Anyway, there's one more to come.

Sarah Leavenworth sits idly by in the Seattle airport's lounge, killing time before the plane bound for the SWF's next show in Minnesota. As she relaxes, listening to the soft sounds of the airport's generic elevator music, she flinches as a hand rests on her shoulder. "Hi," says Peter MacDougal, towering over her. "Hi," replies Sarah. "You know, there was once a time when I would have laid you out on the floor for something so simple as placing your hand on me." Pete nods. "As a matter of fact, you may have done just that a time or two. Buy you a drink?" She holds up the remains of her beverage glass. "Nah, I'm good. Feel free to sit down, though." "Thanks." He takes a seat next to her, sliding the chair closer to the counter. "So. I never thought I'd see you back on the active roster." The former manager of X Force 9 smiles enigmatically. "Well... the roads of fate take us to some pretty strange places, I guess... and what about you?" She jabs Pete gently in the ribs. "Demanding a match on Storm?" "I know..." says Pete quietly. "And with your son, of all people." "I know." Sarah shakes her head. "What ever possessed you to do that?" "You know something?" says Pete. "For a moment there, when I was standing in the center of the ring again, and listening to the thousands of people chanting my name... well, it felt like old times. I miss that feeling... and you know, I wouldn't mind hearing it again." "You're talking about a comeback," says Sarah. "Aren't you." It was not a question. Pete nods slowly. "I think I'd like to give it one more go." Sarah shakes her head. "That's crazy. Pete, you're forty years old. What makes you think you have the stamina to compete again on a regular basis?" Pete raises an inquisitive eyebrow. "I may be forty, Sarah, but I'm not dead. It's not like I don't stay in shape any more. I still do my workouts in the locker room before every show, just as I always have. I don't know, I think I may be able to do it. Who knows? Maybe sometime down the road we could even put XF9 back together again." "That's not possible, Pete, and you know it. Everyone from XF9 is gone. Brassy, TNT, Erek... hell, even Ash is gone. They've all moved on." "You're here," prods Pete. Sarah holds her hand up to stave off that line of thinking. "I've moved on too. I'm teaming with Chris Fury now." Pete frowns. "I know. I can't say I'm thrilled with that particular pairing." "Can't say I am either, but things are the way they are for a reason." Sarah appears thoughtful. "You know what I think? I think you're trying to wax nostalgic for your glory days because you're trying to take your mind off the bigger picture." "What bigger picture is that?" "Coyote," says Sarah matter-of-factly. "Your son is here in the SWF. Someone you didn't even know existed, and now that he does, he wants nothing to do with you. I think that hurts you more than you care to admit, and you're using the idea of a comeback as a cover." "Perhaps you're right." Pete ponders Sarah's words, considering the weight of what she said to him about Kevin Coyote. But he keeps coming back to the mental picture of standing in the ring on Storm, and the excited chants of "L - D - P!" He feels the knot of time tightening within him, and he hears a voice inside his head say "Too soon, too soon..." Pete suddenly stands up, backing away from the counter. "Then again, perhaps you're wrong. But I intend to find out."
-
My AIM is Doggah Guinea. I don't use it very often. But who knows. You may get lucky.
-
I wonder what Sarah did to Pete in the last couple of years that caused him to distrust her. Yeah, they've feuded before, but unless I'm mistaken, the last time we saw Sarah on SWF programming she was Pete's manager (as well as managing XF9). Of course, I haven't always been around and may have missed something.

SWF Wrestler of the Month & Historian's Rankings
Longdogger_Pete posted a topic in Smarks Wrestling Federation
I used to do this a couple years back. I figured, since it was a new year, and I'm hanging around again, why not start it back up? Note: Please don't complain about your spot in the rankings. As some veterans may remember, I use a very complicated mathematical formula for compiling these rankings and do not show favoritism towards any wrestler in any way. (I'll explain the formula if you really want to know, but it's long.) Let's do the Wrestler of the Month first. Here's the winner along with the top two runners up, and a list of their activities this month. After this I'll list the actual rankings for everyone who was booked in January.
