Black Thanksgiving My best friend ("mate" to you Brits ) and I have a long-standing tradition of getting together on Black Thanksgiving for a long weekend of NBA 2KX (where X equals that current season), fighting games, Marvel Ultimate Alliance (or whatever the equivalent game is that year), and basically watching all the activities associated with Black Thanksgiving. Basically, whatever ain't done before I go to bed on Thursday the 12th ain't getting done until after President's Day. EDIT - Come to think of it, that triple threat you put me in where I lost the WCC, I no-showed that because the due date was too close to Black Thanksgiving.

Not me; I'm better for the beginning. In fact, if the show date is too close to Black Thanksgiving, there could be some problems.

I'll write in February. As Bruner.

WWE General Discussion - December 2008
Mr. S£im Citrus replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in The WWE Folder
Please define "older crowd" for the purposes of this exercise. I'm not exactly "rabid" about Cena, but I like the guy; in fact, he's my favorite male wrestler on the roster right now. Speaking only for myself, I'm not a big fan of "edgy" characters, and didn't particularly care much for the Attitude era. If the kids that grew up in the Attitude era constitute the "older crowd," then what am I? I demand classification! -
Did Rey gain forty pounds in an hour, or did I hear her wrong?

This isn't exactly true: the Cavaliers don't have to re-sign LeBron before they sign somebody else. They can easily put themselves in position to sign Bosh and then, because they hold James' Bird rights, go over the cap to give him the max. As to the whole endorsement thing, I'm not buying it, either. We're not talking about Wally Szczerbiak, we're talking about LeBron F. James. That sumbitch could be playing in Diego Garcia, and make a hundred million in endorsements.

What Would Be Your Theme/Entrance Music?
Mr. S£im Citrus replied to Diamonddust's topic in General Wrestling
If I were a wrestler, I would like to come out to "Comin' Agg" by Scarface, because I would most likely be a hardcore brawler/garbage wrestler and, every time I hear that song, I feel like I'm ready to fuck some shit up. [boring TMI] My main e-fed character started out in 2002 with "The Everlasting Gaze" by Smashing Pumpkins, then went to "Let's Get Dirty" by Redman early in 2003, then to "Guilty Until Proven Innocent" by Jay-Z, back when I was doing a (very) mild ripoff of the angle that led Sting to become Crow Sting (basically, the only real semblance is that the character is a career face, and everybody in the promotion turned on him due to a misunderstanding, so he temporarily went tweener... or something like that), back to "Let's Get Dirty." I then switched briefly to "Let's Get Retarded" by the Black Eyed Peas in mid 2004 when I was wrestling under a mask in a Yellow Dog-esque storyline, back to "Let's Get Dirty" for the next two years, I think. Then back to "Let's Get Retarded," as I essentially parodied the aforementioned Yellow Dog-esque storyline, then briefly to "Bouncin' Back" by Mystikal in late 2006, during a period in which I'd considered tweaking my character's style from high-flying to a more technical-based style; I quickly ended up dropping that, since I wasn't feeling the new direction, and went back to "Let's Get Dirty" and the lucha suicida style. After nearly five years of constantly writing for an e-fed, without only one extended period (> thirty days) of not writing in all that time, I thought about quitting last year when my long-time tag partner suddenly bugged out, and I was starting to feel the burn myself... but since I'm divorced, and have no life outside of my son, I eventually decided to come back, foregoing a total character reset, and instead deciding to come back as an all-new character. The new character, as a super-heavyweight, is pretty much the exact opposite of my previous character, and his ring music is "Call the Ambulance" by Busta Rhymes. [/boring TMI] -

Somebody break up the Hawks! At this point, they should still be undefeated going into the Boston game.

Having only just recently gotten into SHIMMER, I must say that's awesome. Incidentally, I recently ordered Vol. 13-20... So far, I'm up to Vol. 17, and I'm not regretting the investment in the least; are there any particularly noteworthy matches in Vol's. 1-12 that merit ordering those as well?

workers who get called great but you disagree
Mr. S£im Citrus replied to chrislatimer's topic in General Wrestling
I think that something got lost in translation, but thanks for answering back, anyway. What I got out of that discussion was a list of matches between Misawa and Kawada, most of which were followed by a very brief description of what happened during the match, and following discussion from a bunch of people who clearly seem to grok the fullness of that storyline/feud. But, as someone who does not grok, a lot of what was said in that discussion was like white noise to me. I simply don't grasp the context of the feud to make that list helpful in any way to me. I suppose what I'm looking for is more along the lines of a "Misawa vs. Kawada for Dummies" manual. I probably don't need every minute aspect of the story spelled out in exacting detail, but perhaps something that is a trifle more explicit than a list of significant matches, coupled by an implicit understanding that you already grok why they're significant would be more helpful to guys like me. -

Not really wanting to get in the middle of this argument/pissing match/whatever but, as someone who's had no exposure to puroresu, what makes Misawa/Kawada the greatest feud of all time? I'm not saying that you're wrong, mind you, but for the unwashed such as myself, what makes it objectively better than, say, Sammartino/Zbyszko, or Magnum TA/Blanchard, or Sting/Flair, or Hart/Michaels? Was it how many matches they had? Was there something particularly compelling in the storytelling? Was it money promos? What makes it the best? -
My only objection is that, if I had the book, I'd do it the same way writing-wise, but portray it storyline-wise as if the whole tournament were happening on one night. I'd like to have seen whether we could have pulled this off with some of the older writers: Can you imagine a "one night" tournament with the likes of Flesher, Ejiro, Judge, Danny, Mags, Toxxic, Maddix and Matthews? Throw in guys like WC, Johnny, Dace, Spike and IL to add some flavor, and maybe a couple of "legends" like Sacred, Strangler and TNT, who easily "could" have won, just to make it interesting? Supposing, for the sake of argument, that you just wanted to have an eight-man tournament, though, I think that G-IV would have been the optimum time to do it: based on the card, we could have had an eight-man tournament featuring some of the top draws at the time(Strangler, Drazon, TNT, Danny, Edwin, Silent, Flesher, Judge), and still have had a kick-ass undercard (Dace/Craven/Bastion for the Commissionership, Sacred/Mak for the ICTV, Ejiro/Va'agia for the US, Crowe & Crane/Double Jeopardy for the Tag Titles, WC/Johnny for the Hardcore, AND ED/Duran to jerk the curtain. That would have been unbelievable. EDIT - All things being equal, I think I'd swap out Strangler and Jay Dawg for Sacred and Mak, but that was a title match, so it affected my final placement.

I didn't exactly asked to be booked, but I'll write. I am intrigued by this concept.

Egad. I have to go with WB over Disney as well, but I did want to add that I'm in the "anti-roadrunner" camp. RR and Tweety were basically the only major WB characters that never got their comeuppance, even once.

The Time Is Now... to Change Cena's Theme

Fuck it. I like "Time is Now," and I don't care if I'm the only one. I really dig those horns. -
