Yeah, I think so. Some people complain that band has no stage presence; anyone who says that has a valid point—Doug Martsch never looks comfortable if he isn't staring at his guitar—so you'd have to really be a fan of the music, which, fortunately, is strong enough.

None of their albums are really "punk," so start with 13 Songs. However, if you really want the artsier stuff, either Red Medicine or The Argument.

VU & Nico is their best album, so I don't think it's a mistake. But then maybe WL/WH is more your speed, anyway.
