  1. I've long assumed this guy was smooth jazz cheese, but I've read enough about him to think he might be more than that; plus, some real cool track credited to him came up on the online jazz radio station I was listening to at work the other day—unfortunately, I can't recall the name of the song, but it sounded a lot like Miles Davis's early fusion stuff (think In a Silent Way). Does he have good albums? I'm currently downloading Bright Size Life, which also features Jaco Pastorius, which might give Agent of Oblivion a halfie, but makes me wary. fake edit: I don't expect much from this thread, but I figured I'd make it, anyway.
  2. Mike Nelson didn't have Joel Hodgson's courtesy to disappear from the public eye post-MST3k.
  3. This is all I care about.
  4. Wait, is that the Cracked? As in Mad-knock-offs Cracked?
  5. I mentioned it in another thread, but yeah, it's really, really good.
  6. Once, a few years back, I was posting on this board at the university library. A girl who was sitting next to me happened to look over, saw all the delightful emoticons this board had to offer (this is back when all available emoticons were displayed in a box on the lefthand side, not just a small selection of them) and asked what website I was on. I panicked and said I didn't know. She didn't believe me.
  7. I like that Frog Eyes cover Czech posted up there, but I can understand that its not to everyone's taste. I also really like the album itself, which I can also understand to not be to everyone's taste.
  8. MAIDEN http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkAx-j9whiA
  9. I think he was a high school teacher and, allegedly, fat. It isn't impossible he was taking grad courses simultaneous to teaching high school. But I'm pretty sure he was very fat.
  10. A couple of years ago, I mentioned on here a trip I was taking up to Athens. One or two people offered me money to take out Coey while I was there.
  11. Seriously, though, how'd anyone get intimidated by him? He would actually attempt to talk down to people by quoting Triumph the Insult Dog Comic. His bullshit was easy to see through and call on. If you did—and I would—his only comeback involved something along the lines of "I don't like you and I hope you die." The dude was a total pansy.
  12. Coey was known to live in Athens, Georgia.
  13. "When the Levee Breaks" is a better closer than "Stairway to Heaven." The idea that the latter can't be followed is more looking at the legendary status ascribed to the song than the song itself. LZ obviously didn't realize just what "Stairway" would become when they were sequencing the album. That said, you can follow "Levee," but only only only with "Going to California." I like the sequencing as is, though Czech's is an interesting alternative.
  14. The undeniable stench of self-importance occasionally crops up during this album, but all is forgiven in the face of its sheer kickassery.
  15. The way all you dudes would piss your panties over Coey was funny, but yeah, he was pretty awful.
  16. I'd say making Coldplay the point of reference for melodic, chiming guitar chords is a display of ignorance, if not outright stupidity.
  17. Yeah, I wasn't including you in my "you people are retarded" comment. Fucking what the hell, Coldplay?
  18. Even if this is a joke, I'm simply not going to take anything you say seriously from now on.
  19. And it doesn't sound like Coldplay. You people are retarded.
  20. One listen down, and I'd agree that it's their best album since Kid A. That's not the highest of praise, considering how I felt about Amnesiac and Hail to the Thief, but I like it okay.
  21. Czech, which is better: "Someone Great" or "All My Friends."
  22. Oh man, fuck you. Dogfish Head is my favorite brewery. EDIT: Actually, now that I think about it, they're my second favorite brewery. #1 is Rogue, given just how much more often I drink Rogue beers than Dogfish. Still, I love DH.
  23. I forgot this was being released today. That I don't think they've made a good album since Kid A—seven years ago!—was the driving force of my apathy.
  24. Perhaps the parent would like to explain what, exactly, in TCITR was intended for nothing other than sexual titillation. The finalists for this year's National Book Awards have been announced: http://www.nationalbook.org/nba2007.html Tree of Smoke is the only one of any of those I've read.
  25. So have you guys done nothing but listen to this today.
