  1. Nah, she was someone I saw in a record store. Ice was broken over music-related matters; I didn't have time to talk to her as much as I would've liked, so, since she was cute, I asked her out for the hell of it. She accepted. A few days later, during the date, I discovered she wasn't much of a talker. In fact, she told me that about three times, each time being one of the rare moments where she thought to contribute to the conversation. If it weren't for the fact that she followed up each of those confessions with a sheepish apology; that she laughed at all my moments of wit and smiled at my engaging manner (which, by the end of that hellishly long 90 minutes, I was very much forcing); the fact that she called me earlier, leaving a voice mail just a few hours ago, inquiring if maybe we could get together again...if it weren't for all that, I'd wonder if her reserved behavior during the date was more her being horribly bored by me, rather than her being socially inept.
  2. snuffbox, you often make statements you unconvincingly try to back up. It's not a good trait.
  3. You may be right about his intellect, but, given the circumstances, you come off especially bitter and probably a little jealous.
  4. Also, no one's hating the Eagles because they get played a lot on the radio; they're being hated for being absolutely fucking awful. And that Hinder comparison is really, really stupid and inaccurate.
  5. I never made it past the first four songs on their debut, thanks to the one of the most annoying fuckwits to sing for a rock band, regardless of subgenre.
  6. They're nothing alike.
  7. Fuck you.
  8. Don't get catty. I was thinking of starting a thread about Hall & Oates, one I hope you post in and enjoy.
  9. Shouldn't a disparaging comment on taste make a somewhat accurate reflection on the person to whom it is being addressed?
  10. Masculinity and good taste are not interchangeable concepts.
  11. I had yet to harbor a disdain for the sun at the age of four.
  12. luke-o, I'm not comfortable with how, lately, you've felt far too comfortable with posting as much as you have.
  13. Exslade ZX telling it like it is.
  14. I abhor sunlight, which, really, is a shame, as I can tan to a lovely golden brown were I to just spend a little outdoor time shirtless. As such, I have quite a farmer's tan—not baseball player- or, um, farmer-levels, but a farmer's tan nonetheless.
  15. I have both lived in the south all my life AND been exposed to more than a moderate amount of classic rock radio; benoitrulz4life is completely overstating this region's affiliation and affection for the Eagles. Far be it from me to defend what southern people are into, however. Yeesh.
  16. Seriously, what's with this south bullshit.
  17. Some of his encounters with women throughout the film (mainly the one in the drug store and the one at the highway rest area) were effective, too, but jesus fucking christ you had to put up with so many endless fucking driving scenes. Completely wrecked the momentum for me. I chalk up the whole thing as an admirable failure.
  18. It's been hot these past few days—nastily so in the mid-afternoon. Smokey, too, but that's more on the direction of the wind, as south-eastern Georgia has been on fire for over a week now. It's not quite Forever Changes time yet (see first page of this thread), but I've been spinning Sly & the Family Stone a great deal this past week, since the much-needed release of those remasters.
  19. Coat, did you like The Brown Bunny? I thought the motel scene at the end was excellent (and not because of the bj, har har), but the lead up was boring.
  20. What an awful date. SHE DON'T TALK GOOD.
  21. I am drinking Rogue's Dead Guy Ale right now. Only the best for me.
  22. Somewhere well-lit and public.
  23. My five favorite movies: 1. Brazil 2. Stranger Than Paradise 3. GoodFellas 4. A Clockwork Orange 5. The Tin Drum
  24. Listening to There's a Riot Goin' On. I'm feeling good. How's you guys?
  25. Speaking of indie movie crap, I hate that Wes Anderson, however indirectly, has popularized this largely horrible "indie" aesthetic that can now be found in major studio films. Little Miss Sunshine was garbage, folks.
