I know Newhart's ending better than Roseanne, mostly because not even John Goodman's awesomeness could rescue that show sometimes. Ah. I felt lower-class just WATCHING it.

In regard to how shortening the schedule would hurt TV revenue: no. It'd just hurt the gate, which is what hockey thrives on. People bitch about NHL games on TV being hard to watch, then they go to a hockey game live and say it's the coolest thing they've ever seen. It's a sport that evidently has to be seen in person or on CBC coverage to be appreciated. So what they should do is keep the 82 to 84 games a year, scale back salaries, and maybe-just-maybe design some merchandise that people wouldn't be ashamed to wear. Expansion teams, I'm looking at you.

I was reading discussions at various sports forums that speculate George Shinn's Hornets are already struggling in New Orleans and once again they may be taking the team on the road. I haven't heard anything reliable, so it's not like I'm publishing fake news. I was just wondering if anybody else has heard about financial struggles this early in the game for the New Orleans Hornets.
