My vote goes to the Attitude era because, to me, it looks more prestigious. There's something about the overall look of the belt - maybe the full rounded centerpiece and the overall size of it compared to the Winged Eagle belt - that makes it stand out more.

He's more like Thirteen...only without the acid, hot friend, dopey mother that has no clue what's going on when she sees half of it, and random sex with Puerto Rican boys YEARS older than her.

The franchise has been fucked since City of Angels, so no biggie.

I don't think so...though I haven't really sat down and watched TNA since before Lynn's injury leave following the World X-Cup, so maybe. But why is it a bad name to you? I mean, it does make sense (Cradle of Filth is a pretty popular metal band, and Lynn is a well-known metalhead), but...okay, nevermind. It's a shitty name for the move, especially when it's been established for, oh...6 years already as just being called the CRADLE PILEDRIVER. In XPW, I swear Johnny Webb used a move called the Welfare Check. I think it was a running powerslam swung into a DDT or something.

Mom picked up the "Titus" DVD collection while I was out with my buddy Drew today. She called me and was all excited like a little kid when she told me she got it. I haven't heard her be that happy in a while (which is really sad, I suppose, but she loved that show).

Yeah, a lot of spoilers in this post, so if you're reading this and haven't seen the movie yet...just skip it or shut up about it. Jingus, I don't think you're necessarily supposed to feel sympathy for them when the Sheriff is fucking them up, but I think the scene is supposed to show that neither side is "right." We'd all be cheering for the Sheriff wholeheartedly if he didn't torture Baby like he did (that was the one part that ruined my sympathy for the Sheriff's character), because Otis and Spaulding DEFINITELY got what they deserved (not fully, but to an extent they did). It's an antihero movie. You're not supposed to feel sympathy for the ones doing the gruesome killing, but in a weird, sick and fucking twisted way, you do. I think some critic used the line "a combination of Natural Born Killers and Texas Chainsaw Massacre" to describe this movie, and that's actually a perfect description, because in NBK you start to like Mickey and Mallory, despite their being serial killers, because those after them are just as evil - if not moreso, because at least Mickey and Mallory lived up to their crimes - as they are. That's what I get out of The Devil's Rejects, anyway: you can at least respect Otis, Spaulding, and Baby because they're open about being sick and twisted pricks, while Sheriff Wydell is sick and twisted and tries to pretend he isn't. PLUS, in the end, justice was served as the Texas Rangers completely hollowed out Otis, Spaulding, and Baby as they tried to make their getaway. So there was retribution, but just not for Wydell because he let himself get too lost in vengeance as opposed to doing his job and getting justice. And Downhome, I wasn't trying to start shit with you. I just don't think Rob needs as much of a filter as you do (though this could be because I like this AND House), and I think that it's too early into his film career to really judge whether or not he does. I'd like to see the script he wrote for the third Crow film, the one that was rejected, because I'd like to see how he would have handled the mythology of it and see if it was just a bunch of action/revenge clichés thrown together (like the third Crow ended up being) or if there was some semblance of heart in it.

They're slasher flicks, but I wouldn't consider the original TCM a slasher. Too creepy to be a slasher. More of a soft exploitation flick, IMO. Now, the sequels? Those are slashers. But the first is soft exploitation. And yeah, Satan should go under Demons/Possessions, since movies that deal with demonic possessions usually deal with Lucifer as well. Also...what would we classify under Monsters? Vampires and werewolves, definitely, but what about mummies? Would they be monsters or zombies (since they ARE the reanimated dead)? Would aliens have their own categories or would they be under monsters? I don't think Epidemics should be a style, simply because most films dealing with an Epidemic tend to be drama's, and the few horror films that deal with Epidemics use them as a backdrop for other things. I can only really think of one movie, The Crazies, that deals with an Epidemic and can't be listed under Zombies (like Rabid and 28 Days Later can). Okay...so categories DEFINITELY needed are: -Zombies -Ghosts/Supernatural -Slasher We'll need to definitely work on this.

The Story of XTREME PRO WRESTLING

It wasn't that it was boring (though most of it was), it was that it had very little to do with how Langdon related to XPW. -

You can take out everything about his horror movie career (though it was nice to know that he's been successful elsewhere besides the wrestling business, as the Planet of the Apes makeup was the most creative work after Lon Chaney until the mid-70's when Stan Winston, Tom Savini, and others began popping up) and the Cauliflower Alley Club, really. Well, not so much EVERYTHING about how he's old-school, but shorten it a lot. I skipped over almost all of that because it had nothing to do with the school or the Slammers Wrestling Federation. Nothing of real matter came into play until the last few paragraphs of this entry, as that's when it began to focus on how Slammers lead into XPW. -
I think they should keep Raven as champion as long as he's working as a champion. Wow...keeping a champion around while they're still over as champion?! TNA almost NEVER does that! Let's see... Shamrock? People wanted to see him lose the belt ASAP. Truth? Lost the belt too soon to Jarrett after having some really good matches with Lynn, LowKi, and others. Jarrett? Should've lost it at Destiny, but certain things got in the way, and then lost it too late (thus turning him from an INTERESTING face into a BORING heel). Styles? Wasn't over as a lame-duck champion during his first run. Jarrett pt. II? Not over because fans were sick of him. Styles pt. II? Fans loved it, but he lost it too early. Truth pt. II? Fans loved it, but he won it and lost it too abruptly. Jarrett pt. III? The reason a good portion of their fanbase stopped watching entirely. Raven? Working because fans have wanted it since he debuted 2 and a half years ago with TNA, and because Raven knows how to make people look good even if they lose to him.

Exactly. It's an homage, not a parody. And not an unintentional parody either, Downhome, since most exploitation/grindhouse films are actually WORSE than what Haverhill's Favorite Son (my personal name for Rob, since he grew up about an hour's drive from me in Haverhill, MA) has presented to us. Also, please remember that these are his FIRST two films, and everything else he's directed has been music videos for projects he's been involved in (White Zombie, his solo career, and I believe he did some of his brother's videos in PowerMan 5000, but I'm not too sure). I expect his next film, assuming he's going to make another one, will be better than this, and to a lot of us (everybody but Downhome and AndrewTS, essentially), that's saying something.

Well, there's a simple way to decide if something's horror or not. Is it played so that the situation itself is the main thing of interest, or are the characters the main thing of interest? Think about it. Horror films are not character studies. I wouldn't really Ginger Snaps a horror film because of this, since it's a character study about the Fitzgerald sisters. Sure, it's a werewolf film, but I wouldn't call it a horror film, ya know? No real HORROR element happens until the last 15 minutes or so of the flick after the initial attack. Though the sequel and the prequel could very well be considered horror, while also being character studies...dammit. Okay...I think that's a good bar of judgment on what is and what isn't a horror film. Is the situation the main focus of the film, or are the characters the main focus of the film? If we use that, we can rule out most drama's that deal with serial killers. EDIT: Also, what categories would we need? Zombie, Vampire, Slasher...what else? Would "alien" be a category? Ghosts? Do we lump Werewolves into the all-encompassing "Monster" genre because there aren't enough GOOD werewolf movies out there (and most of the recent ones are more action than horror)?

I just hope he doesn't go up to an Imp, give him the People's Eyebrow, and then hit a Rock Bottom. ...actually, I do.

The Guy You Like Who Actually Sucks
Corey_Lazarus replied to Team Angle Pusher's topic in General Wrestling
cabbage, if they called Brian Adams Crush, then Vince would've sued their asses since he owned the name. -
I don't think it necessarily has to CREATE a star in the process of being a good match, because TNA isn't known enough to the new audience that will be watching to have a new star suddenly created before their eyes. But the matches on there NEED to be good, and NEED to be better than anything featured on Raw or SmackDown that week. So...figure 40 minutes total for matches (3 matches, 12-13 minutes a piece), and the rest is for commercials, highlights, and promo's. Don't worry about too much angle advancement on this show, because you'll need to get people into the action that goes on in TNA before you get them into the angle itself.

I think The Rock's supposed to be a villain in this about halfway through, from what the Fango article I read said.

baron, while I agree that Load is probably their most UNDERRATED album (I actually think it's better than Justice), it's nowhere near their best. It really is more of a 2-song album with "Bleeding Me" and "The Outlaw Torn," while the rest is pretty much filler. "Hero of the Day" is a good song as well, and "Ain't My Bitch" is a great opener, but...that's it, really. The rest of the album is more of the same. The intro to "The House That Jack Built" is good, though, and "Mama Said" isn't too bad of a song...but it's not a Metallica song, if that makes sense. It's more like "hey, I'm James Hetfield, I listen to country, so I'm gonna write a country song for this album."

I don't see how Rejects was a parody of 70's exploitation. If anything, the TCM remake was a parody of 70's exploitation. Please explain.
