So far we've gotten two calls from America's Vietnam War Hero. Great fun. Oh hell no -- if she ever came across this place and read half of what I say about her, I'd be a dead man. Besides, in another few years she'll probably realize that both sides are full of shit and become more "bipartisan" in her bitterness. This is a new experience for her, after all...

I'm so not looking forward to this election season now that I've moved back to PA. The only real national ads I remember in 2000 were from Pat Buchanan while I lived in southwest Ohio. And to make matters worse, the better half is now more right-wing than me. It's gotten so bad that I am now trying to play Devil's Advocate on some of the things she hears from the same talk-radio programs as I do at work. Up until about a year ago I was always the one following the news, etc. She would always just watch Nick or Lifetime. Not anymore. A recent highlight was a week or so ago when Kerry was pimping some hippie tax credit and from the moment I walked through our front door I heard "Did you hear what that asshole wants to do now?!" Funny how getting a real job can change some people's opinions around...

Man, if Kerry would have picked Howie, "the scream" would have had a second life. I can see the commercials now. "Would you want this man one heartbeat away from the Oval Office? ROAR!" Anyway, Kerry will get a bump for a little while then fall back down. Hell, back in '96, Dole even got a bump after the convention that polls had him right up there with Clinton. Then the Dems had their convention and that was the end of that...

I like the PP story, but what pisses me off is that I also really dig the stories of the villians, too, and they don't get more time to develop even more, but c'est la vie -- can't have a 4-hour movie like LOTR. And regarding JJJ, as much as I love his character, I'm content with him being exposed in limited quantities. It just makes the time he's actually on the screen that much better...

Politics aside, I think it would be great for Bush to win just to see the hysteria the Left will perform upon a successful re-election campaign. Also, I would like to see Terry McAwful's reaction to a Bush win and Republican majorities in Congress. His spin over the last few elections have been great...

Saw it yesterday. It was OK. I normally don't watch movies in the theater, but this was an exception. I don't think it was as good as many people here thought it was, but I didn't hate it by any stretch of the imagination. I'll get it on DVD when it comes out, too. Most people already mentioned in this thread things that I liked and didn't like, so I won't repeat them (although I will pimp the Evil Dead connections -- Bruce/Operating Room). However, one thing that got on my nerves was the screaming. It seemed whenever there was some kind of action going on that there was a chick screaming and it got on my nerves after a while. That's all. Thank you Drive-Thru...

Oh, that hippie channel. When I had Digital Cable for a few months I had it. Only saw one film, and it dealt with some Europeans robbing banks and stuff. I was rooting for their deaths. My guess is that it was unedited...

Who would you want him to pick, CBright? Edwards is the best choice, imo. If he picked Gephardt most campaign stops would have to provide blankets and pillows. If he picked Vil-uhh, that guy from Iowa, most campaign stops would need 10 minutes of introducing someone nobody knows about. If he picked Hillary Kerry would probably be found in a park somewhere with a "suicide" note. Edwards was the best choice. UPDATE: I don't think he'll "win" the South, but Kerry might have a chance to win, or at least compete, in a state or two down there...

The problem with picking Zell is that there's no chance in hell he'd ever be the Dem nominee. Also, the problem with saying Nobody-cared-about-Zell-until-he-became-a-Bush-fan is because he wasn't a mainstream pol. until he began pimping Bush. That's like saying how many Dems would have voted for Jim Jeffords before made his bitch-ass move of leaving the GOP to become a pawn of the Democrats...
