I really don't try to compare POTUSs because, like sports, many pols were in office during different eras of our country. The only presidents I have been able to vote for were Clinton or Bush, so my personal observations of commander in chiefs are rather limited. I was 4-12 years old when Reagan was in office, and I didn't follow politics in high school, hence my memories of Bush I are limited in scope...

Actually I heard it from that right-winger Jesse Ventura, who ended up putting a person in his own party to take Wellstone's slot as a result of the aforementioned event. Ha. I was wondering how long it would take for an Eric S. thread to appear at this place. Personally, I stopped taking anything he says seriously when, after years of bitching about Bush stealing the 2000 Election, he barely said a word other than "the good guys won this time" about the NJ Senate race in 2002, but that's just me. For all of you offended at this guy's column think about this. When Reagan passed away, people (I have no idea how many, but I'll be willing to say thousands) waited up to half a day in order to pay their respects (which, from what I've been hearing would last only a minute or so) to the former POTUS. Do you think Eric S. will get the same kind of treatment when his clock gets punched? EDIT: That's it?! Wow, I thought Eric S. went rather easy on him myself...

Now I went to Journalist school, and one of the basics we were told to do is give background info on a story if needed. Kinda like how Big Media likes to remind us that John Kerry served in Vietnam every time he talks about the Iraq war. But I have no clue as to the connection between Rodney King and Ronnie. 1992 NLCS, Game 3 -- the perfect day. I was 16 years old at the time, and just months prior to this October game I became legal to drive. I did some yardwork for this family in my neighborhood and saved up to get tickets to games 3 and 4 of the '92 NLCS (Pirates v. Braves). I could have went to game 5, too, but I didn't, and I regret that becasue Bob Walk pitched the game of his life, but I digress. Anyway, I was able to get my old man's truck to drive to the game with my best friend at the time. But before we did, we, along with a few other people, duct-taped this kid on our block to a telephone pole -- it was initiation week at our high school, and he was a freshman. Anyway, after that we went into Pittsburgh, goofed around, and watched Tim Wakefield, who was in his first season in the big leagues, pitch a complete game gem. The Pirates were down 0-2 in the series, and everyone was ruling them out. They came back to within one out of going to the '92 World Series. I guess what made that game special was this was the first time I was "out on my own," and it was an experience I'll never forget. Of course, I went to Game 4 with another friend and almost had these two drunk guys fall on us (they got into a fight and went crashing down a dozen rows), but that's another story for another time...

Well, in a country of 300 million there are a LOT of people here that are just as bad as your loons over there.
