I have a feeling the replacement main event of this PPV will end up being something like Rick Steiner Vs Brian Christopher

Bruce Springsteen- 4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy) The live version from Hammersmith Odeon London '75. One of the best live albums I've heard.
-
Nah, I haven't heard of about half of the songs either. I've just really zoned out mainstream radio in the past two or three years.

Hootie and The Blowfish were my favorite band for a brief period when I was 8, in between my Jackson 5 phase and my Queen phase probably. I still like to listen to their singles sometime for nostalgia. I still like most of it especially "Let Her Cry". All that aside, that album sold 16 million copies. I bet 12 million of those are now strewn across yard sales and used CD sections across the nation right now. It seems like every decade there's a band that sells a shitton of records and then is sort of forgotten by everybody ten years later. I think Hootie and The Blowfish is that band for the 90s.

2006 buddy. And I seriously doubt anybody on this board (except maybe Milky) has actually listened to that album. Granted, it's probably shit but nonetheless. I don't think we can nominate albums we haven't listened to.

That video is actually pretty damn funny. Now I wish that stand up show was closer
-
She was sued by 70s power pop band, The Rubinoos cause it sounded similar to their "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend"
-
I like "The Great Escape" too. But "Big Girls Don't Cry" is pretty sucky, definitely belongs up near the top of a Worst Songs of '07 list.

Funny story about seeing a one hit wonder in concert. I went to The Q Concert or whatever (Local Top 40 station's summer concert) in '99. Eifel 65 was the act me and my younger brother were most looking forward to. They played a 15 minute set and played "Blue" twice and we loved it. And when the final act of the evening, Vertical Horizon (now those guys sucked) and me and my brother complained for weeks after that Eifel 65 should have headlined. Other acts I remember that evening; Westlife, Rustic Overtones (local band. Actually pretty damn good alt rock band, really out of place here), and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and a couple of other shitty forgettable late 90s pop bands I'm forgetting. The second Q concert I went to was much more memorable. Third Eye Blind headlined with Sister Hazel, SoulDecision, Dido, The Corrs, Samantha Mumba, No Authority, and Evan and Jaron. Now that was a slightly less forgettable bunch of late 90s acts.

Hyannis Sound (acapella group)-Fields of Gold Am I the only one on this board who likes acapella music? It's been one of my big guilty pleasures over the past year or two. Love that shit. I'm also a big fan of "Fields of Gold", I hate solo Sting but I really like that song for some reason and "Russians" too.
-
"Rock Star" is pretty sucky but for some reason, I don't find it as overly sucky as previous Nickelback songs and I like the video for some reason. I guess I'm just a big sucker for seeing a bunch of B-listers lip synching.

Thanks Kinetic for reminding me about Gym Class Heroes- I'd pick that for the worst song but I think it's a year or two old. I saw it on Fuse once like a year ago and was like "Wow, this is terrible. I hope it doesn't become a hit because the guy from Fall Out Boy sings the hook" and six months later, it's a hit. I'd say "Clothes Off" is worse. They made an already terrible song ("We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off") even worse.

Soul Coughing did "Super Bon Bon" (Best known to wrestling fans as Danny Doring's theme) and "Circles", which both got a lot of play on alt-rock stations around '97-'98ish. I like to listen to their hits once in a while for nostalgia but they really aren't remarkable enough to get into 10-12 years after the fact. While on the subject, some other late 90s alt-rock one hit wonders I enjoy: "In The Meantime" by Spacehog, "Standing Outside A Broken Telephone With Money In My Hand" by Primitive Radio Gods, "Little Black Backpack" by Stroke 9, and "Steal My Sunshine" by Len amongst many others. Though the last two may have been 2000.

5 Favorite Opening Acts 5.Bleu (Opening for Guster, September 8th, 2007, Bank of America Pavillion, Boston, MA): The music itself ranged from average to pretty good but it was a sheer spectacle of a performance. For some reason, he had a teen choir onstage with them and at the end, he had forty guitarists play on the final song. And he played covers of "Shout"(Tears For Fears) and "The Way You Make Me Feel". 4. The Raconteurs (Opening for Bob Dylan, November 9th, 2006, Cumberland County Civic Center, Portland, ME) 3. Ray Lamontagne (Opening for Guster, August 19th, 2006, Cumberland County Civic Center, Rogue Wave was the first opener. Great bill) 2. Elvis Costello (opening for Bob Dylan, October 4th, 2007, Cumberland County Civic Center) 1. Blackalicious (opening for G. Love and Special Sauce, November 26th, 2005, Orpheum Theater, Boston, MA. Only show I've seen where the opener was probably better than the headliner and G.Love was pretty good that night)

For some reason, I lkind of like both "Beautiful Girls" and "Umbrella" so everybody here can go fuck themselves! As for worst song of the year, I don't know I've listened to the radio a lot less this year for some reason. If I think of something I'll post it.

Wasn't the short lived Holiday Spice (it was only around for the Christmas season in '04 or '05) just cinammon Pepsi? I really hated that soda.
-
I watched some of the skits over the past few days on YouTube and on NBC.com and my opinion of the show has definitely changed. I still think it's the worst show of the year but there were a few decent moments and it wasn't an 04-05 level abomination. There were only two outright misfires (The tired Al Gore skit and the "Where's My Purse?" sketch) of the night and the rest was just generally forgettable outside of the Dane Cook MLB Playoff commercial spoofs and Fred Armisen's bit on Weekend Update.

I just heard a radio commercial for a stand up comedy appearence by the guy who played Biff in Back To The Future which cracked me up for some reason.
-
Fountains of Wayne- Strapped For Cash Probably my favorite song off their last album. Not sure what I think of their country influenced stuff but I like I-95.
-
It reminds me of a Boston album cover. I think almost all of their album covers involved space ships too.
-
I wouldn't know about it if I hadn't read Roger Ebert and The Boston Globe's review of it last Friday. Thumbs were decidely planted in the middle, leaning down in both reviews IIRC. Didn't Astin direct or produce the movie or something as well?
-
As unenthused as I've been about the first three shows of the season ( I liked LeBron/Kanye, thought Seth Rogen's episode was just kind of there and I hated last night's), I'm really pumped for the next three hosts, if the writers can't get at least two good shows out of the next three with those hosts (Brian Williams on 11/3, Rock on 11/10, and Jonah Hill on 11/17), I think almost all hope is lost for the season.

You really aren't missing much. I tried one once and it was really not that good. Now their Chicken Fajitas on the other hand, that's a McDonalds item I miss.
-
Hell, I'll go one step further and say I'd be a bit surprised if The Comebacks opened in the Top 10. I haven't seen that many ads for it besides online ones.
-
I got that, I was asking what would qualify as a "white" movie. Anything that involves swimming? Come on, what about Pride?
