IMHO black cinema went down hill after House Party 2: The Pajama Jam. Sadly, I'm only half joking with that remark

What the hell!? I saw one ad for Why Did I Get Married? and it was in the papers the day it opened. I (like most white people I assume) really don't get the appeal of Tyler Perry.

The only somewhat decent parts of the night was Jason Sudeikis' Dane Cook impression and The Iconoclasts sketch which I got a bit of a kick out of for some reason.

Lord, from what I saw (all but the first half hour or so), last night's SNL was just awful. I mean '04-'05, '94-'95 levels bad. And I'm usually a defender of modern SNL. I'm looking forward to what Bob has to say about it.

Good to hear, I'm probably checking it out tonight. Either that or Death at a Funeral (British comedy and Peter Dinklage sounds like a can't miss combination) but I'm definitely leaning towards Michael Clayton.

I assumed he died but I don't think they showed it. I don't know anybody besides myself that really enjoyed Superman Returns. I wouldn't say it's one of the great superhero movies, but it's definitely in the second tier of pretty damn good superhero movies. I haven't seen it since I first saw it in theaters, I have a feeling that would be one of those movies where my opinion of it might lessen if I see it a second time.

Kal Penn wasn't that bad in Superman Returns more awkward. I remember someone saying he did it because he desparately wanted to be in the movie and would take any part in the movie but you think they could have given him a line or two. Kal Penn isn't a big star by any stretch of the imagination but it was still really really odd to me that he had no lines in that movie.

Yeah but I'd be hardpressed to figure out a band with mostly male members fronted by a female singer that didn't place most of the focus on her. I mean are there any where that wasn't the case? But yeah, that band does suck.

Welcome to every 1980s house show on 24/7. The ones from 89 and up seem to be better at having more star power though. I can't wait to watch this 1992 one with Sid squashing Hercules. That match is hilarious- Hercules totally no sells the powerbomb for some reason. No wonder he was in WCW a month or two later.

FOX Sunday Night - 2007/2008 Season
King Kamala replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in Television & Film
No, not The Pitts that was one of the worst shows of this decade! -
I'm not too worried. When Ridley Scott is on, he's ON and from the looks of the trailer, it looks like it's a hit. And I think he has something to prove after A Good Year and Kingdom of Heaven were such big flops. Though I quite liked Kingdom of Heaven myself.

Hey, why isn't there a box office thread for this weekend? People need an outlet to discuss The Rock's film career and to mock The Heartbreak Kid's failure, dammit!
-
Agreed, I've always thought of impressions as being more impressive than funny.

Fatlip- What's Up Fatlip? One of the best hip hop one hit wonders of the decade. Love the video

The Directors Cut DVD Discussion Thread
King Kamala replied to Lil' Bitch's topic in Television & Film
I might have to get that - is it much different than the original? Not really. Granted I haven't seen Commando in 4-5 years so my memory is a bit foggy but it seems like they shuffled up the sequence of a few scenes a bit and added more violence (never a bad thing). Still it's worth getting due to the featurettes on the DVD, They briefly bring up the unintentional gay subtext of the movie in one of them and I watched the movie again and they were right, it is there. I mean Bennett is sooooo gay. Didn't notice it much when I was 12. -
The Mullets and The Pits (I wonder how many people besides me even remember that garbage show?) were easily the two worst sitcoms of this decade. Caveman is probably the lower (upper?) half of the bottom 10, somewhere with Quintuplets and Tracy Morgan's ripoff of The Cosby Show. EDIT: Forgot to mention Baby Bob....my god what a terrible show that was. And then we had to deal with him as a Quiznos pitchman.

Too Cold! I have a cousin who's a big fan of rap metal era Vanilla Ice and one of his favorite bands is Slaughter. No joke.

Watched the first segment of this (not even the first match) and I have to say I'm mildly impressed by the production levels on this PPV. Not WWF or WCW level but just a rung below it (and a rung above the original ECW and about 50 rungs above Heroes of Wrestling). There's also a surprisingly large crowd (in the 10,000 range), I guess Australians are starved for entertainment. Also mildly interesting to note that Dennis Rodman is playing the heel and Curt Hennig the face. And the commentary thus far is horrible. DiBiase is playing a lame babyface color commentator and the other announcer is awful, not as bad as the Heroes of Wrestling guy but almost. And it's so obvious that they dubbed the commentary in from the States later on and that they're standing in front of a green screen during the "live shots". Just really really cheesy. And ten minutes in, there have been two attacks at a press conference. Looking forward to watching the rest tomorrow morning.

Saw 3:10 to Yuma, really enjoyable movie with great performances by Bale and Crowe as well as Ben Foster but the main question on my mind after seeing it is what was up with Luke Wilson's part? He had like four lines. I'd like to think he told his agent "Man, Owen had a lot of fun doing Shanghai Noon, I want to do a western! I don't care how small the part is, if there's a part available in a western, I'll take it!'

I always thought Malcolm In The Middle was pretty good for the first season or so but then some point, midway through the 2nd season, I realized every god damn episode was the same. I don't think it was the matter of the show getting worse (though it certainly did from the later episodes I've seen), it was a matter of the show following the same formula every fucking episode.

Saw the Bob Dylan/Elvis Costello show last night. It managed to be a pretty good show despite the main portion being the worst of the three Dylan concerts I've gone to (It still had its share of moments but the first half hour of the set was dullsville U.S.A.) and Elvis Costello playing for only 45 minutes. Costello deserves at least an hour. Here's Dylan's setlist in case anyone's curious; Portland, Maine Cumberland County Civic Center October 4, 2007 1. Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat (Bob on electric guitar) 2. Don't Think Twice, It's All Right (Bob on electric guitar) 3. Watching The River Flow (Bob on electric guitar) 4. Chimes Of Freedom (Bob on electric keyboard and harp) 5. Rollin' And Tumblin' (Bob on electric keyboard, Donnie on electric mandolin) 6. Workingman's Blues #2 (Bob on electric keyboard) 7. Cry A While (Bob on electric keyboard, Donnie on banjo) 8. When The Deal Goes Down (Bob on electric keyboar and harp) 9. Tangled Up In Blue (Bob on electric keyboard and harp) 10. Spirit On The Water (Bob on electric keyboard) 11. Highway 61 Revisited (Bob on electric keyboard) 12. Ain't Talkin' (Bob on electric keyboard) 13. Summer Days (Bob on electric keyboard) 14. Masters Of War (Bob on electric keyboard) (encore) 15. Thunder On The Mountain (Bob on electric keyboard) 16. All Along The Watchtower (Bob on electric keyboard) Surprisingly the stuff from Modern Times were some of the best songs of the night. Workingman's Blues #2 and Ain't Talkin' in particular stood out.

You guys are thinking of the WWA PPVs from '02. I actually still have the first one with the title tournament on tape and maintain that it's a fun little show. And I don't see how I can get ripped off on a $1 wrestling DVD. Especially if it features The Barbarian on it! I'm about to pop it in and watch the first match or two.

Cornelius Brothers and Sister Rose- It's Too Late To Turn Back Now

Breakfast: Pretzel rods and a bottled water (I was on the run and the milk had spoiled ruining the possibility of cereal) Lunch: Tuna Sandwich, Sour Cream and Onion Pringles and a Dr. Pepper Dinner: Some crappy frozen cheese pizza with some bacon and tomatoes thrown on top and water Late night snack/2nd dinner: Two Whopper Jr, a large fry, and a small chocolate shake. And now I feel just a bit like crap. I knew eating Burger King at 11:30 at night was probably a terrible idea.
