  1. I saw this on Monday, solely because Superbad was sold out and the only other options were Chuck and Larry, Rush Hour 3, and Hairspray (Damn small town movie theaters!). I've never seen any of the Halloweens (I'll probably NetFlix the first two soon) so I can't say anything about whether it was accurate or not. I don't think it's the outright disaster some are saying but it's no great shakes either. The dialogue in the movie just flat out sucks for the most part and the first half was crap. But on the positive side, the second half was decent generic slasher flick fodder and there were some decent performances. I liked Danny Trejo but I can't think of any movie where I didn't like Danny Trejo, Malcolm McDowell and Brad Dourff did pretty well with the little they were given, and Sherri Moon-Zombie was half decent. She's no great actress but isn't all that terrible. And Ken Foree's cameo cracked me up although it didn't really make much sense and we really didn't need to hear him beating off. Overall, I'll give it **. More likely than not, it'll be one of those movies I forget about in a month or two.
  2. Sounds terrible. And John Goodman is in it for some reason. Those Roseanne residual checks must not be as big as he thought they were.
  3. I may be wrong since I haven't seen the show in five or six years but I remember JR and Savage putting over Hogan and talking about how we haven't seen the last of him after the world title match at KOTR. Maybe WWF thought Hogan just wanted to take an extended break?
  4. IIRC, it's a Korean monster movie set in Los Angeles that broke all of the Korean box office records.
  5. Well I thought Halloween would get $18-20 mill and Superbad would get somewhere in the $13-15 mill range (which it did). I'm more surprised at how much it made rather than how it beat Superbad (which I expected)
  6. Not surprised it got #1 considering the usual Labor Day weekend weak batch of movies but I'm surprised that it beat Superbad by how much it did.
  7. Has Prince been mentioned? I would have loved to see him around the time of Sign O' The Times, 87 or 88ish. Or on one of the tours where The Time opened up. I got a book that has pictures of all of the old posters from the old Fillmore East and Fillmore West from the mid 60s to the early 70s and there are some really cool bills I would have loved to see. Like Jefferson Airplane with B.B. King and The Who opening from 1969. The Kinks with Elton John opening during Elton John's first U.S. tour in 1970. The ultra bizarre bill with Chuck Berry headlining and Jethro Tull opening. The Allman Brothers with The J. Geils Band opening from 71. Otis Redding with a young Grateful Dead opening. All sorts of crazy, wacked out bills like that.
  8. What if Bam Bam Bigelow doesn't blow out his knees in early '88? Does he become the WWF's next huge babyface alongside Hogan and Savage? Perhaps he beats HTM at SummerSlam '88. Maybe he turns heel and has a run with Hogan.
  9. Hey now, Salvatore Sincere was actually from Italy. I don't remember much else about him other than the fact that he was insincere and that's why we were supposed to hate him.
  10. For mascot hall of fame I'm picking Youppi and Mr. Met for the Pro Sports Wing and Big Red and Brutus Buckeye for The College Wing. Youppi is the best mascot I've seen in person. My favorite mascot moment I witnessed in person was when The 2005 Eastern League (AA) All-Star game when all of the mascots from all the teams did a Rockettes style kick line on top of the dugout. That and getting a high five from Hanley Ramirez were the highlights of the night.
  11. I heard the weirdest song played over the grocery store P.A.; Fool For The City by Foghat. Nothin' like rocking out in the produce section to the Fog
  12. The Ultimate Survivor Series was just a one hour best of compilation showing clipped Survivor Series matches. IIRC, it aired on the same night that TV movie Hulk Hogan did with Carl Weathers and Shannon Tweed aired on TNT (Assault on Devil's Island or something silly like that). I don't think it knocked the guys who left for WCW too much- at least not Hulk as I distinctly remember them showing Hulk Hogan bodyslamming the parade of fat dudes from the first Survivor Series main event. And I believe it aired in '98 because I remember part of the hype of the special was they were showing part of The Montreal Incident. Matches featured on the special for those curious (found on Amazon); Hulk's team Vs Andre's team, The Ultimate Warriors Vs Heenan's Family, The Dream Team Vs The Million Dollar Team, Hulk Hogan Vs The Undertaker,, The Hart Family Vs Shawn Michaels and The Knights, Bret Hart Vs Bob Backlund, Goldust Vs Bam Bam Bigelow (Why they hell did they put that one on?), Bret Hart Vs Steve Austin, Owen Hart Vs Steve Austin, and Bret Hart Vs Shawn Michaels (Montreal Incident) I remember it being lame and really disappointing. You can't really do a best of in an hour and some of the choices for matches were kind of bizarre.
  13. Form a stable with Vick, Pac-Man, Leonard Little and Tank Johnson, managed by O.J. Simpson. Guaranteed heat! We can't forget Michael's little brother, Marcus! Hell, they should bring in Lawrence Phillips if he's available.
  14. Fenway Park is the only park in baseball that's alternately one of the best and worst ballparks, depending on where you're sitting. If you get an obstructed view, it's one of the worst. But if you get a half decent one, it's the "Great American Ballpark" of yore. It is pretty fucking cramped though, that's why I like SRO (Those are the only tickets I've been able to get since '04 for face value)
  15. Basically, Foley was upset that Mero got a much bigger contract than him and Foley thought he didn't deserve it. IIRC, he thought Mero and Sable were becoming primadonnas too.
  16. At WrestleMania XII, there was supposed to be a Marc Mero Vs Mankind match and from what I gathered, it was supposed to be a ripoff of Randy Savage Vs George "The Animal" Steele with Mankind falling in love with Sable and Mero getting pissed at him about it. So I assume, Mero would have been the heel. But Foley thankfully didn't want anything to do with Marc Mero and it never happened.
  17. The season where Esteban Loaiza won 21 games was really out of nowhere.
  18. I went there during the Expos last season and I'll agree. If you take off the crappy roof- it's not much worse than Yankee Stadium (which I thought was incredibly mediocre outside of the great atmosphere) and it had better concessions than Yankee Stadium.
  19. Man, I'm hoping the local arthouse cinema would add King of Kong. Then again, they did have Hollywood Dreams though and that was on the list of sub $1000 PSA and really what do arthouse cinema owners care about making money ?
  20. I would have loved to have seen The Who/The Clash tour that year. I know The Who was without Keith Moon but I think The Who have been at the very least a good live band in any of their incarnations.
  21. Looks like it could be funny (Love Forte's reaction to Wiig's cold plastic cup line) or it could be another Let's Go To Prison . I'll see what the early reaction it is to and then decide whether or not I want to see it in theaters. I'll see it on DVD regardless of the reaction.
  22. The rap at the end of "Alphabet Street" by Prince. Just terrible. Almost ruins the whole song. If it weren't for the last minute of "Black Diamond", the song would easily be one of my two or three favorite KISS songs. I don't know how others feel about it but I really don't care for the spoken word part of "Nights in White Satin".
  23. Semi off topic- but wasn't a then unknown Tila Tequilla on Surviving Nugent?
  24. Excellent to see Superbad at #1 for the second week in a row. Movie deserves it. Kind of surprised to see Mr. Bean's Holiday at #4. I remember seeing trailers for it about three or four months ago and then completely forgot about it until two days ago when I saw what movies were opening. I thought it would be in the lower half of The Top 10. Good for Rowan Atkinson I guess... I thought The Nanny Diaries would do a bit better too for some reason. I guess the chick flick audience doesn't flock out to the theaters this time of year.
  25. I concur. I'm surprised so many people thought they were gonna turn gay in that scene.
