Beefcake is lying. Warrior was the hottest act they had in the summer of 1988 and McMahon decided to cash in by giving him the win over Honky. The Beefcake feud had sort of lost its heat by the time the event came and they decided it was no longer a good idea to have him go over. I just don't see any scenario where he ends up with the title. Yeah that Beefcake as a valid source remark was sarcastic by the way. How about if he didn't have the parasailing accident in '90? Would he have just lost it to Mr. Perfect in the rematch 3-4 months later like Von Erich. In response to The Brainbusters question, I really don't think much if anything would have changed. For some reason, I think The Fabulous Rougeaus may have gotten a better run and The Powers of Pain would have probably turned heel quicker than they did but really nothing that alters the course of WWF or WCW history.

What if Brutus Beefcake doesn't get replaced at SummerSlam '88 by Warrior and wins the WWF Intercontinental title. What happens to Warrior? Does his push just get delayed? According to Beefcake ( a valid source I'm sure), Warrior threatened to quit if he didn't get the WWF Intercontinental title. What happens to Beefcake with the title? I'm sure he doesn't get nearly the push Warrior does but I'm sure he doesn't become the punchline that he is today.

I've only heard of five and have seen none. Though I might DVR Idiocracy if it comes on one of the premium movie channels. I'm a big fan of Mike Judge and Luke Wilson but the mixed reviews turned me off from even spending $3 to rent the DVD.

The only thing the fans wouldn't have shat on for a HBK opponent at WM XIV was probably The Undertaker. Just get rid of The Undertaker-HBK match at Royal Rumble '98 so fans wouldn't have gotten sick of it. The Undertaker finally getting his comeuppance on HBK might have had a shot at working. Rock and Triple H weren't ready. I don't think Ken Shamrock had enough charisma for anybody to buy him as a main eventer and Foley wasn't really taken serious as a surefire main eventer until late '98. Maybe the WWF would freak after their future superstar's career is ended and sign The Warrior or Sid. I think Montreal was going to happen whether or not AUstin had a career ending injury or not.

I know I'm probably going to be the only guy in the camp but I thought the IC title was still semi-prestigious up until the Invasion. I thought the Val Venis-Rikishi feud wasn't bad and I think having guys who had been main eventers like Kane and Triple H holding the title gave it a rub. But once the Invasion happened, it just kept changing hands and was never really the same.

Is sucking a serious enough offense for calling for a boycott? I mean I thought boycotts were for some malicious act.

I could have sworn The Tripper was a wide release for some reason. It opened on the same weekend as Hot Fuzz here in Portland, which probably stole almost all of its potential audience here.

I used to love Kona Crush as a mark. I still think he should have been the one to slam Yokozuna on the U.S.S. Inteprid. And his match with Randy Savage at WrestleMania X was a really fun brawl. RIP Crush.

I haven't seen any of the movies on the under $1000 PSA but I've heard of about 2/5ths of them. But that's only because I'm a big film geek. I've heard some good things Pierrepoint: The Last Hangman (I guess nobody wants to see a movie starring Timothy Spall) and some really good things about Steel City. Most of the movies though to be fair were arthouse releases and therefore got little if any hype. Do you know many of these were wide releases, Bob?

Probably Batista in HITC at Judgment Day as you said. Then, probably a craptastic feud with Mark Henry taking up Vengeance, One Night Stand and maybe Great American Bash.

From what I've heard, he's going to have a few more operations and if those are successful, he'll come back. He's said he wants to come back. Michael Phillips (film critic for The Chicago Tribune) has been on a lot since Ebert went out. I think he'd be a likely choice if Ebert didn't come back. It'd continue the tradition of two Chicago film critics hosting the show.

Yeah, put me in the indifferent camp with Winehouse as well. Not bad (certainly better than Joss frikking Stone) but no great shakes. But like gtd said, if it means a comeback of Motown style music, I'm all for it. Went to Hippiefest last night. The Zombies and The Turtles still have it. Mountain does not (I mean seriously they messed up "Mississippi Queen", that's their one hit!). Everybody else ranged from meh (Felix Cavilare of The Rascals and Country Joe) to pretty good (Joey Molland, former co-lead singer and rhythm guitarist of Badfinger and Mitch Ryder).

Well Piper was gone in '88 but I agree with most of what cabbageboy said. It'd be almost exactly the same as '92 except with some of the names changed. He'd probably join The Heenan Family with The Brainbusters. Flair'd probably start by feuding with an upper mid carder (Maybe Duggan), then go on to defeat Savage for the World title, then lose to Hogan at WM5 and then feud with The Warrior.

No but it's pretty much a given. I think she wants to stay on but I'm pretty sure Horatio Sanz did too and they finally canned him last year.

I heard Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons cover of "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right".... I like Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons and I love Bob Dylan, but those two do not go together at all as one would probably expect.

I actually wouldn't say the worker is a bad worker. I wouldn't say he's a good one either but he is a lot better than that DVD and a lot of people gave him credit for. I think he was just incredibly unmotivated to put anything other than a formulaic match unless it was a big time show. So I'll say he was an incredibly unmotivated mediocre wrestler, who when motivated could be pretty good. I'll go ahead and say The Warrior isn't much worse of a worker than The Hulkster (yes, I know that's not saying much) and he's better than quite a few wrestlers of his era (Hercules included ) .

That's a good one. I think he would have started as one of Vince's top Corporation lackeys but then after being done, he would have done a huge face turn and become the #3 babyface in the company (Behind Austin and Mankind)
