Wrestling Roster Draft: Luxe & Reduxe
King Kamala replied to PILLS! PILLS! PILLS!'s topic in Draft Faggotry
I'm pretty happy with my draft slot. Though it sucks being far down initially, after that, I won't have to wait long between picks and I'll be able to get tag teams easily. Score one for the Ugandan giant! Franchise had a good idea, I'm ripping it off. Venue The Orange Bowl, Miami, Florida Main Eventers Andre The Giant Brock Lesnar Lex Luger Batista Upper Mid-Carders Diamond Dallas Page Jeff Jarrett Kamala Jerry Blackwell Mid-Carders Lower Mid-Carders/Openers Managers/Bodyguards Rikishi Meng Tag Teams Paul London & Brian Kendrick Jinsei Shinzaki and Hayabusa Rikishi and Meng Junior Heavyweight Division Tiger Mask Chavo Guerrero Jr Paul London Brian Kendrick Hayabusa Women Division Alundra Blayze Bull Nakano Non-Wrestlers Lance Russell Mike Tenay -

Listen I'm not saying I have a problem with Czech making fun of people. The problem is Czech shows up in this folder only to make fun of people. It gets kind of annoying. -
All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft
King Kamala replied to PILLS! PILLS! PILLS!'s topic in Draft Faggotry
I'm going completely different with my drafting philosophy for this draft. I went old-school because I figured few people would and I would reap the rewards but it was really hard to book shows with a ton of guys I was only kind of familiar with. My new roster will reflect more of my personal tastes, I think. So...who's going to start the new thread for this? Whoever it is, I ask you to subtitle it "Electric Boogaloo". That joke never grows old. -
Now to be fair, as hackneyed as Tyler Perry's movies seem to be, you can get a lot dumber (Paul Blart and Fired Up! to name a few that are currently out now). My point, bad doesn't always equate with stupid.

According to IMDb, it was shown at some film festivals in '07 but it was released to theaters in March and it showed up on some critics Best of '08 lists. So I guess we're both right? -

I don't know...I wouldn't have been surprised if he had got nominated if he was still alive but I certainly don't think he would have won. Honestly, I was kind of rooting for Michael Shannon even if I still haven't seen Revolutionary Road. He's one of my favorite actors working today. Would have been nice to see him get some love. Speaking of him, I totally forgot Shotgun Stories when mentioning the best movies of the year. That's easily in My Top Five, probably just below The Wrestler and The Dark Knight. -

You know, I actually agree with most of the points that Czech made in this particular thread. Especially regarding award shows being extremely masturbatory and not worth getting worked up over. Awards shouldn't validate your taste. But I don't know- it's almost impossible to be able to tell tone via internet message board postings but Czech seems awfully condescending in this folder and unwilling to open himself up to debate. Czech manages to balance being an ass and providing insight in virtually every other one of the non-wrestling folders, I don't see why he can't do that in this one. -

I think Czech makes some very good points, he just goes about making them in the wrong way. I'd genuinely like to hear more of what he likes to say instead of him just waltzing in once every other month to try and kill whatever the buzz is in this folder. -

With all due respect, Czech, the only time you seem to come into this folder these days is to complain about something that's generally popular amongst the rest of the board. I find absolutely nothing wrong with doing that (in fact, we probably need more dissenting opinions) but doing only that is kind of annoying. -

Well, it balances itself out. People like Czech complain about me and Cheech calling the music folder too elitist and people in here complain about Czech calling this folder too populist. Who's right? Everybody. -

I knew when I saw Czech in this thread, he'd totally deliver a zinger related to The Wrestler or The Dark Knight. He did not disappoint! -
Hey this is the one episode of RAW that emanated from Portland. 'Course this was when my parents wouldn't let me go to wrestling on school nights. Damn them!

Hey I forgot about Jimmy Kimmel being on after the Oscars. Woah! Tom Cruise and Mel Gibson as guests. Talk about a double scoop of crazy! -

Didn't think I'd be fooled by that filter but I was. Damn! Semi OT but speaking of Flirting With Disaster, I was putzing around on wikipedia and boy does David O' Russell's next movie sound stupid. Jessica Biel? Really? -

Yeah, geez did Sean Penn shit in your cereal? I know he's an asshole but yeesh. I wonder if there'd be the same reaction towards Richard Jenkins if he'd been the one to beat Rourke! Naw, it's not possible to hate on Richard Jenkins. The Academy totally snubbed him for his role as the very attractive in a way that I can't explain ATF agent tripping on acid in Flirting With Disaster! -

Yeah, are the Frost/Nixon interviews really all that well known among people under the age of 35? I consider myself fairly knowledgeable about U.S. history and I hadn't really about them all that much outside of reading reviews of the play and seeing the SNL spoof of them with Dan Aykroyd and Eric Idle on the Season 2 set. -

I think we've had this thread but my top five (in no particular order) for you King Kamala fans out there; The Dark Knight, The Wrestler, Wall-E, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and Bigger, Stronger, Faster *. I'm really behind on '08 movies. Still haven't seen two of The Best Picture nominees (Benjamin Button and The Reader), Gran Torino, The Visitor, Frozen River, Happy-Go-Lucky, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, In Bruges, Man On Wire and Revolutionary Road. Damn- not having a movie theater within a twenty minute drive sucks balls. I'm really slipping compared to the last two or three years. -

See I don't think I'd put any of the Best Picture nominees this year in my personal top five of '08. Slumdog and maybe Milk would be in my top ten. -

Penn was great, no doubt, Mickey Rourke was just on another level. He IS The Wrestler. Yeah, I don't know. I just learned at a young age not to get to worked up over these award shows. Yeah, they're entertaining and all but George C. Scott was right, it's nothing but a meat parade! -

My first reaction; "Damn, TSM is going to be pissed." Eh, Penn was really, really good. I thought Rourke was a bit better but whatever. -
Yeah, The Ringer was directed by the same guy who did Beyond The Mat hence Terry Funk being in it. I don't think he had more than a line or two but still I marked out. Only other thing I remember about the movie is the appearance from The Kids of Widney High and finding it odd that half of the actors playing Johnny Knoxville's retarded friends were actually retarded and half were actors playing retarded people. Thought they would have gone one way or another. But that's enough of me rambling about a crappy movie from five years ago that hardly anyone remembers!

I'm just wondering if anybody who's dissing Slumdog Millionaire, has actually seen it? I don't know if I'd call it a great movie but it's a very good one and probably the best of the nominees. -
Oh that's right. Completely had a brain fart and forgot that. I went to the movies on Christmas Eve afternoon once to see The Ringer...why I don't know (but hey it had Terry Funk as one of Johnny Knoxville's uncle's cronies!) but there was a gas leak in the theater like ten minutes before the movie ended and they gave us $20 in gift certificates. I still haven't seen the ending of that movie.
