  1. A couple classic skits I liked were this fake commercial where Dan Akroyd is narrating a car commercial where the car advertised's ride is so smooth, that you can circumsize a baby in the back seat. Then it proceeds to show the car making sharp turns and a rabbi trying to perform the cirumsision in the back seat. I also love Fred Garvin: Male Prostitute. Dan Akroyd has to be one of the most underrated SNL castmembers ever. He's a real comic's comic. It's too bad he hasn't done anything really funny in the last twenty or so years.
  2. They have an album produced IIRC by Rick Rubin coming out late this year/early next year. Is there any band Rick Rubin won't produce?
  3. Was Hercules a babyface at the end of his WWF run in early 92? His last major match was against Sid at the February 92 MSG show (Where he was squashed in under a minute). If he was a babyface, how did he turn? Edit: I also saw he jobbed to The Berzerker on the house show circuit in early 92. Why I care so much about Hercules? Beats me.
  4. Hmm tickets for his show in Portland, Maine are only $45 a pop. Not too bad- especially considering the Raconteurs are opening. I saw him two days ago in Manchester, NH on the minor league ball park tour and the show was fucking ace.
  5. Bob Dylan in two nights in Manchester, NH! I'm stoked. Especially because for no apparent reason he's really started shuffling the setlist that he's basically been playing a variation of for the past two years. The New Cars cancelled for some odd reason (probably cause no one but me cares- bah!) I'm definitely going to be seeing Bob Dylan/The Raconteurs on November 9th in Portland, ME. It's only five minutes away from my house and I'd be stupid not to go. I'll also be seeing Jonathan Edwards on November 18th at the Chocolate Church (An old church reconfigured into a 300 seat concert/theater/performing arts venue)in the hamlet known as Bath, ME.
  6. I'm seeing him on Sunday night on his minor league ballpark tour with Jimmie Vaughan and Junior Brown as openers. I'm also planning on buying tickets to see him November 9th in Portland. He's huge in Portland for some reason, he's sold out the Civic Center the last two times he played there in '99 and '01. And with The Raconteuers as an opening act, I'm sure it'll sell out within the first couple of days.
  7. I have a question I got in my head when I was watching WrestleMania IV the other day (Why? I'm not quite sure) and Gorilla and Jesse were talking about how their were rumors in the National Examiner that Jesse was seeing Vanna White. Now I know this is a stupid question but was there really a story in the National Examiner about Vanna and Jesse being an item or were Gorilla and Jesse just joking around (Wasn't Ventura married with kids?) Also interesting to note, before the Ricky Steamboat-Greg Valentine match, Jesse said that his friend Barry Blaustein (The future maker of Beyond The Mat I assume) predicts Steamboat to go all the way in the tournament. I always assumed from watching Beyond The Mat that he had only recently openly came out as a wrestling fan. It's just weird to see Jesse mention him way back in '88.
  8. When did they phase out The Fink as the main announcer for WWF/E? Also, my memory is a bit foggy but how did they justify Jericho and Stephanie hooking up in the buildup to WM X8 after their war of words just months earlier?
  9. I won four free tickets to the second and last day of Baystock, a local music festival that's taking place on a pier. Blues Traveler is headlining and The Saw Doctors and a bunch of local bands are opening. Should be a fun enough time for a free show.
  10. Chicago style pizza, with a thick crust, tons of sauce, tons of mozarella, sausage, pepperonis, mushrooms and onions for toppings.
  11. Hall and Oates- Out Of Touch
  12. Not summer but I'm going to see The New Cars on November 19th at City Hall here in Portland. Tickets will probably be really expensive ($50 at least) but it's a relatively small 1,900 seat auditorium and you only live once. The Cars are probably one of my top ten favorite bands of all time and I love me some Todd Rundgren too so it'll all be worth it.
  13. "The lead singer of REO Speedwagon must be violently raped up the ass"
  14. "Incest, and why it can work."
  15. Sort of, except JBL improved after awhile while Viscera- well.....there's a reason he's a Love Machine now and not back on the top of the card.
  16. I thought it was lame myself too. It seems like it's been done before and better (even though I'm not sure if it as) And the song sucks. And I usually like the RHCP stuff.
  17. A free concert downtown had the funniest radio promotion for a concert I've ever heard. It was like "Maine's own Pete Kilpatrick faces off with Boston's Grace Potter and The Nocturnels. It's a musical showdown, Boston Vs Maine. Thursday in Monument Square" It made me really pumped for the concert even though I'm only a minor fan of Kilpatrick and haven't even heard a single song by Potter. It makes it sound like there'll be some kind of wild brawl.
  18. Yeah but the ladies don't go half as crazy for Orton as they do for Joe. Samoa Joe= Sex Symbol
  19. I might see The Steve Miller Band on August 18th at the Augusta Civic Center in the metropolis known as Augusta, Maine. Not quite a concert, but I kind of want to see Dave Chappelle when he's in Boston on August 23rd.
  20. Ah- so they were both one shot deals? No angles with him? I think even in 98, a sober Jake might have had potential to be worth something on a roster. Heck in 2006, a sober Jake might make a good manager or authority figure.
  21. Same here. She was just kind of there. Horatio Sanz on the other hand....
  22. What was up with Jake Roberts' ECW run? They barely gloss over it on the DVD.
  23. It was cable access bad. Not joking, it was literally like watching an incredibly mediocre karaoke night on TV.
  24. It was a good but a bit underwhelming show last night. Rey/Booker was again damn good. Finlay/Regal was solid with the time given but I just want them to have 15-20 minute to have a stiff no frills brawl with no Lil' Bastard. Sylvester Terkay was decent but he was much more impressive when I saw him at a house show in June against Gunner Scott. I think JBL is definitely improving, his banter and chemistry with Cole still needs a bit of work but has gotten way better since Day One. My favorite line of the night was when JBL commentented on Sylvan during his entrance JBL: Aw man....this guy SUCKS! It's funny because it's true.
  25. I'll be watching tonight because I'm at my family's camp and I only have five channels up there. Doesn't sound like a very good show but it should be better than RAW and (WW)ECW. Looking forward to Finlay Vs Regal, hopefully it's better than their GAB match.
