  1. I don't think Zeus Vs Hogan was ever set in stone as a 'Mania event...I think Vince might have thought that if the feud had worked out well enough, Zeus/Hogan could work as the main event WrestleMania VI but like I said I don't think it was ever set in stone. Just a possible avenue to go down (I believe Hogan/Perfect was another potential WrestleMania VI main event).
  2. You know watching it again, Hall's initial promo is pretty lousy but I guess the shock of seeing him on Nitro was 10x more than enough to put the segment over. Anyways some more career highlights Match is 10x more entertaining with the commentary en Espanol.
  3. Doll and Mike Enos were smart to just walk out of the ring. From my years of watching Nitro, it's clear that when a star makes a run in during a match between two jobbers, jobbers are about to get their asses whooped.
  4. Dunn was probably most famous for being one of the guys in the ring when Scott Hall made his debut on Nitro.
  5. Anybody have former WWF and WCW curtain jerker, Steve Dunn? Yeah, I know probably no one did but I figured it was worth asking anyways.
  6. There was a marathon of Family Matters on BET and for some reason, I was compelled to watch two part "series finale"...man was that some bad television. I don't think that show was ever great but I guess it really fell of the rails after it got kicked off TGIF. Urkel engaged to Laura? Wasn't she supposed to hate him? And Urkel goes to space! That's never a good sign unless it's The Simpsons! It was nice to see Holmes Osbourne randomly get an applause break when he entered as the hard ass former astronaut that recruited Urkel. And has any show replaced/added more characters with no rhyme or reason than Family Matters? Did they think everybody was so enraptured with Urkel that they wouldn't notice? Why am I posting about Family Matters? Waldo Faldo was the real star of the show for my money.
  7. Alright, I promised I wouldn't vote in this tournament but the allure of the Final Four has gotten me. goldengreek: You know what...I don't hate cabbageboy. I vehemently disagree with him on almost everything and think he's a dope but I don't think he's deliberately trying to piss us off in anyway. He's just trying to engage in discourse with us, it just so happens his side of the argument is usually pretty fucking stupid. Besides, it'd be kind of mean (though also kind of funny) to ban someone that I assume is completely unaware of the fact that he's in the tournament or even the fact that 90% of the board really doesn't like him. I don't have anything personal against goldengreek but his behavior in this thread has showed he's no one really worth saving. Enigma: Roho was seemingly pretty fine before everybody turned against him. Enigma sucked when he thought that everybody was cool with him and sucks now that he's aware everybody doesn't like him. Besides I think he's a slightly easier match up for goldengreek.
  8. The Condemned stands out as the creepiest movie audience I've been a part of. Not because of anything they said or anything but solely because of the fact that the audience consisted of me, a friend, and four or five middle aged guys sitting by themselves. It probably looked like a porno movie audience to the usher.
  9. I didn't say it was his best film (you're right, Forgetting Sarah Marshall is better than this and was my favorite comedy of '08) just that it was his best film role. I'm going to go against the grain and say his best role overall was as the creepy, obsessive ex-boyfriend on Undeclared, though obviously Freaks & Geeks is a close second.
  10. No Udo Kier in this clip unfortunately but I swore that he played the doctor in the mental asylum. I must be crazy because I'm looking at DDT Digest's recap and there's a picture of the doctor that isn't very good but I can pretty much tell it is not Udo. Oh well. As to why we don't revive The Shitty WCW Watching club...eh there aren't that many full shows on YouTube or DailyMotion. I don't know a Match of The Week thread might be an interesting idea though.
  11. Damn good pick there, Garth. After I picked DDP a couple rounds back, I swore that I'd pick Kanyon in a couple of rounds as Jarrett's goofball lackey against DDP (obviously, he would have been using the super underrated Positively Kanyon gimmick) and then I totally forgot about that plan. Oh well, win some, lose some
  12. My dad insisted this was David Bowie for the longest time. Guess that's a compliment. Speaking of Bowie, "I'm Afraid of Americans" might not have been a bad selection if a NIN song or two had gotten in. Can't really argue for the inclusion of Bowie's NIN ripoff when NIN didn't get in themselves.
  13. I don't know. It has to be a tossup between one of my cousins and one of my uncles. I wouldn't say I hate either of them but they both annoy me to some extent. My cousin is 16 but has the demeanor and intelligence of an eight year old. The latter is not an exaggeration. One of the most awkward moments at a family gathering was Thanksgiving about five years ago when Mama Kamala made all of the "kids" read a line or two of some really stupid poem before dinner and she quickly discovered that the aforementioned cousin (who was about 9 or 10) at the time couldn't read. Man, that was really awkward. That's what you get for making us read, Ma! Anyways, said cousin really kind of annoys the hell out of everybody in the family and we've all sort of resigned ourselves to the fact that she's probably going to get knocked up by some dope in the next year or two. Kind of depressing. Anyways, she's nice enough and means well but man is she obnoxious. The other one is an Uncle, who I actually just saw for the first time in three years or so yesterday when I went out for breakfast with my Ma, Grandma, Aunt, and him. He's just really loud and obnoxious and kind of an egomaniac. Even though he's really sort of a dick, he's been a source of unintentional comedy for me and my brothers for the time he got thrown out of an All You Can Eat Buffet, the soup and sandwich place he owned for about three months where he refused to serve cops (despite being across the street from the town police department), and the somewhat related incident where he went to jail for about a week for threatening a cop. These incidents really make him seem cooler than he actually is though.
  14. Well, that wasn't bad at all either. I stand corrected and will edit that little line out. I blame it on me confusing Mick Foley calling Flair a terrible booker in one of his books with Flair's actual booking runs. And thanks for derailing my thread, ya jerks!
  15. Wasn't he also responsible for some really terrible stuff in '93/'94ish though? I could just be getting confused.
  16. I had a funny one the other night. I had a dream that the rage virus hit the little town in Vermont where I go to college and I led a group of students to safety to some barn a couple of miles away. In the barn, there was another group of survivors living there led by Tommy Dreamer of all people. The dream ended with a Vince Russo like swerve where me and Tommy went out to get supplies, only to discover that everything had inexplicably returned back to normal and the dream ended with me and him hanging out a giant cookout. Damn that dream was really weird as hell.
  17. I don't know. I think if anything forgoing those last fifteen years of his career (which did have some great moments here and there) would have helped his reputation as the greatest of all time.. I don't think hanging on about a decade too long hurt his legacy as much as some people think but I think his legacy as a an all time great was already well established by '94.
  18. I can't recall him doing one in the theatrical version (Haven't seen the extended cut) but he does a pretty good one in this.
  19. So I was watching The Legends of Wrestling: Heatseekers DVD and Roddy Piper and Buff Bagwell's boxing match was an extra and well, I kind of wanted to see if it was as terrible as everybody says it was. Well for the first few minutes, I thought to myself "Well this is pretty awful but maybe not as bad as I've heard" and then the finish comes and oh my god, it was even more retarded than I'd heard. And it all culminated in Ric Flair getting chased by Judy Bagwell. And I thought "Well, this must be the low point in Flair's career." Then I thought some more. I thought about him basically being a bitch during his entire feud with The Undertaker, the feud with Vince Russo and David Flair, having to put over stiffs like El Gigante and a decade past his prime Junkyard Dog in the early '90s, jobbing to Rico, and hanging out with Scott Hall and Udo Kier in the looney bin in early '99 and I realized for an undeniably great wrestler, Ric Flair has had a plethora of really terrible moments. The fact that he's successfully managed to maintain his reputation as the greatest wrestler of his time, while working under some of the most terrible bookers in wrestling history is really something to behold. And even in the worst of times, rarely has Flair managed to leave me uninterested. And since bad wrestling can be more fun to talk about than good wrestling, I figured this could be an interesting idea for a thread. So, let's talk about the most embarrassing moments in a storied and rightfully celebrated career. WOOOOOOOO!
  20. Whoosh. Anyways, I like Tominator's Jumping Bomb Angels pick. I was incredibly close to picking them myself but then I decided to go with singles ladies. I also like his "State of The Union" idea. I was about to post one myself but then realized that we're going forty rounds and thus four rounds away from the halfway point...so I'll refrain for now.
  21. Also, I think Kane and Sylvia were goaded into fighting each other by the serial pillist.
  22. I'd have paid the $7 for a matinee ticket to see HBK Sweet Chin Music Ben Stiller.
  23. No, it was supposed to be the TNA logo. Man, looking at her Online World of Wrestling picture gallery, Madusa really should have never gotten that boob and nose job. That was probably the shark jumping moment of her career. Hey here's a fun fact for you guys about Bull Nakano. Did you know after she retired she lost a ton of weight and became a professional women's golfer?
  24. Alright then...I've decided that I'm going to start a women's division and I better start now with some very good picks still left on the board. With my first pick, I'm going to pick two women who were feuding when I was starting to get into wrestling and to this day, the two produced some of the best women's matches I've seen (granted I haven't seen any SHIMMER or Japanese stuff). My first pick is a great multifaceted character. She can be a good heel manager (which I'm surprised she hadn't been picked as yet) or an All American girl babyface wrestler. I'm actually going to use her as the latter. She was also part of one of the pivotal moments in The Monday Night Wars (even though her later WCW runs really kind of sucked). She's a three time WWF Women's Champion, a former AWA World Women's Champion, a*coughFUCKVINCERUSSOcough* former WCW Cruiserweight Champion, and was PWI's Rookie of The Year in 1988. She is... Alundra Blayze Yeah I know this is a picture of Madusa. Just simply couldn't resist the gratuitous T and A. Now her opponent is one of the biggest female stars out of Japan and another gal I'm a bit surprised hasn't been picked. She terrified a six year old King Kamala and she was a better wrestler than a good portion of the men on the roster of WWF circa '94. She's a former WWF Women's Champion, a former WWWA World Heavyweight Champion, a former WWWA World Tag Team Champion, a former CMLL World Women's Champion, and a member of The Wrestling Observer Hall of Fame. With my next pick, I'm proud to select... Bull Nakano And now for some more gratuitous T and A. Apologies for that lame joke...let's move on!
  25. Seeing how sivy is making up a pick that expired at 2:31 A.M.....does this technically mean that tominator's pick expired about ten minutes ago? Got my pick ready, just waiting for some confirmation. Can't really blame anybody for missing a pick at this time (late Saturday night/early Sunday morning)
