  1. I asked this question earlier and didn't get a response...can two draftees pick different venues in the same city? Let's say I want to pick a popular independent wrestling venue in Philadelphia (trying not to drop names), would you not allow it because Steviekick's already picked The Spectrum? Edit: Aw- wasn't quick enough with my fingers. Now I'm getting nightmares from 6th grade Computer Skills class when the teacher berated me for typing like an ape. Damn you Mr. Robbins! Damn you to hell!
  2. Giamatti and Philip Seymour Hoffman would be my top two choices for The Penguin. Despite their "indie cred", they both have played villains in major action movies. And according to this article---it doesn't seem like Catwoman or The Penguin will be the villain in the next one.
  3. Hmm, this sounds like the next Little Hercules in 3D.
  4. I want to see it simply because Casper Van Dien is bad ass as Johnny Rico...however I'm disappointed there is no Jake Busey in here...like I said at another forum, it's not like he has anything better going on. Geez- I wonder why the hell he wasn't in it. It's not like he hasn't been in crap direct to DVD sequels before. Did he really think that was a less worthy project than Road House 2 or The Hitcher II?
  5. Well I only went there once (We never got them up in Maine) and while it was decent enough for that type of restaurant, I'm definitely not shedding tears over its demise. I save those for the closing of local hole in the wall places.
  6. I watched a bit of Anaconda 3 on the Sci-Fi Channel the other night. John Rhys-Davis played an eccentric billionaire who hired a team of mercenaries by David Hasslehoff to capture the anaconda after it escaped from a top secret lab. The CGI was weak, even by Sci Fi Network original standards. And hey, Anaconda 4 is coming in December!
  7. Actually even The Job Squad is almost entirely off the board. I know for a fact Al Snow, Too Cold Scorpio and Hardcore Holly have been taken and I'm almost positive The Blue Meanie has been taken as well.
  8. The stable decision just doesn't really make sense at this point. Like Franchise pointed out, there can't be that many stables left. The rule's introduced way too late in the game to have any sort of effect. Of course, I could always be proven wrong and there could be an amazing stable left on the board that slipped my mind.
  9. Well I think it's one of those things that's technically a rule but the chances of you getting thrown out for breaking it are very slim. There's only one theater that explicity mentions this as a rule and that's the theater we go to 75% of the time. Come to think of it, that theater is the one with the most laid back, don't give a shit employees and I couldn't see them throwing out anybody. It was the theater I always went to see R movies before I turned 17 because they never carded. Ah, those were the days.
  10. Heh- I always have a friend who sticks his feet up against the back of the chair in front of him immedietely following the moment in the rules spiel thingy during the trailers where they tell you not to put your feet up against the seat.
  11. Wow, I thought I was the only who liked the angle where Goldberg was forced to recreate the streak. OK, I'll admit the angle was full of gaping plot holes (Why didn't babyface commissioner Ric Flair just end the shenanigans? Wasn't the WCW roster a third of the size it was during Goldberg's first streak?) and it wasn't the most original idea but the only time Goldberg was really interesting to me was during the streak. The angle had a convoluted ending but I had enjoyed the ride up until then.
  12. Yes, it's similar to what Roeper said in his review. I actually watched that review a few days before that post so I must confess to the subconscious plagarism.
  13. Yeah I reread Mellow's post and figured that I should go. I'm as easily confused as my screen namesake at times. Anyways, with Jim Duggan and The Patriot on my roster, I've decided that my roster should have an evil foreigner and my next pick is easily the best evil foreigner available at this point. Though he's remembered by current fans as more of a tag team specialist (He was a part of three memorable WWWF/WWF tag teams), he also had a highly successful solo career. He was a rare breed of wrestler who managed to thrive in both the more serious, straightforward '70s WWWF and the cartoonish Rock 'N' Wrestling era WWF. He's a former WWF Tag Team Champion and a member of the WWE Hall of Fame Class of '05. With my 29th pick in the All Time Wrestling Roster Draft, I'm proud to select... ...Nikolai Volkoff The confused and indignant look he got on his face whenever the audience booed his singing of the Soviet National Anthem always gave me a chuckle.
  14. I'm not sure why we would. I want to wait for mellow's verdict.
  15. I think you jumped the gun. Drury doesn't owe any picks IIRC (or maybe for some odd reason, we're counting the Lelani Kai pick?)
  16. WCW never really properly utilized Goldberg. He was clearly the most over guy on the roster in the last two or three years in the company but WCW never gave him the ball and let him run with it. He always seemed to be in the shadow of Hogan or Nash or Sting. I'm trying to think of how many shows Goldberg main evented in WCW and the number is surprisingly low. There was Halloween Havoc '98 (While he was in the last match, most of the focus was on Hogan/Warrior II), Starrcade '98, Souled Out '99, Halloween Havoc '99 (And here he was a surprise entrant in the main event), and Starrcade '99.
  17. Am I alone in thinking that Paul Giamatti would make a fantastic Penguin?
  18. I am, as Dusty Rhodes would say, flubbergasted by this last chain of posts.
  19. This is more of a befuddling move than outright terrible one. Who know whether Prinze will be good or not or whether he'll even serve much of a role on the writing staff? The only precedent for "celebrities joining the writing staff of professional wrestling promotions" is Bob Mould's brief stint on the WCW writing staff in late '99/early '00. And besides Freddie Prinze Jr's career isn't exactly flourishing. His sitcom flopped and his last few movies have all been direct to DVD. He's probably just following his passions now that his career has kind of tanked.
  20. I don't know what the hell this dope is talking about. "Everyone led it wrong directions?" First off, hardly anyone starts these threads anymore besides myself and second, I can't remember a single one where we bitched about the current product. Yes, there was excessive bitching about Vince Russo's WCW but that sort of deserved it. And if you wanted the thread to accentuate the positive than why was the first one about X-Factor, one of the least liked stables of all time? Just look at the other "Let's Talk About" threads and you'll see your argument doesn't even make sense. Anyways, I don't think anyone will disagree that this match made for some exciting television but in the long run was one of the worst business decisions made by WCW. Like Diamonddust and mellowvengeful said, it could have had a monster buyrate and made millions for WCW. Even in the immediate aftermath, this match meant nothing. Hogan continued to be the focus of the show while Goldberg was stuck squashing mid-carders.
  21. I like this idea. Anyways, I have Dreams on Spec ( a documentary about screenwriting) up next and Homicide: Life on Street Season Five and behind that I've got a couple more documentaries (Salesman, Mayor of The Sunset Strip) and some 70s movies (Two Lane Blacktop, Pulp,The Watermelon Man). I've got 110 items in my queue so obviously don't want to list the whole thing but it's a lot of documentaries and TV serieses with smattering of independent films, older films I haven't seen, and wrestling DVDs.
  22. The Dames? Dude hasn't been in charge of this forum for like two or three years (He left sometime during my "lost years" on TSM) and rarely posts here anymore. 4. Socksquatch.
  23. I think most of our rosters are fairly consistant though. Most of my picks reached their peak sometime in the '70s or '80s and the ones picked outside of that era- I believe would have fit in that era. That's why I didn't bother to pick very many cruiserweights- it just wouldn't fit in with my roster. I hesitated on picking Public Enemy for a couple of rounds because I wasn't sure if their style would fit in with the semi old-school mentality I have. The thing is though- building these cards will be all about pacing. You can have the scientific wrestling showcase, the wild brawl, the goofy comedy match, and the crazy ass spotfest with people flying off ladders through tables and thumbtacks on the same card all on the same card and make it work as long as you pace it well. It's happened before. Just look at WrestleMania X-7- it had all of those types of matches.
  24. I must admit I felt mildly hypocritical proclaiming my lack of interest in a comedy as dumb looking as Step Brothers while staring at my copies of Out Cold and Pootie Tang on DVD.
