  1. Turd Sandwich vs. Giant Douche? Judging by the title I was expecting them to parody the DAT movie finally like they originally intended, but guess that would be too easy and too late.
  2. Thompson tries to get the PA guys arrested: http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3144843 Take a look at that run-on sentence in Jack's third paragraph.
  3. Sega Slam Masters lacked play modes (no tag team, max of two players). Control was better on the SNES one as well, IMO. However, Sega one did have the Death Match, with a barbed wire ring and a crowd that happily tossed weapons in the ring. X-Men and X-Men 2 on Genesis were quite good.
  4. Did Foley think Orton has potential? That he was a future star just waiting for a big break? Or did he think that Orton looks like a goofy fratboy who doesn't really have anything about him that screams "star" and just took the money anyway? Was Orton in danger of not getting that big break without Foley? Hell no.
  5. Yup--the kind of stuff Foley complained about before coming back to put over Orton. Foley's a hypocritical whore, and Austin's been for a long time. Again, what's surprising here? However, at least Foley is likely to *put over* a *wrestler*, which is better than Austin's gimpy ass going over an active wrestler. Austin was bitching about WWE's creative direction before coming back last time. He bitched about how the writers know nothing about the business and that WWE pushes guys who have no chance in hell of connecting with the audience, IIRC.
  6. "And can anyone else believe that Steve Austin is coming out of retirement to face Coach?" What's not to believe?
  7. Oh let it go you starting to sound like AndrewTS, leave Mick in peace <---- Unapolegetic Foley supporter <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Since when do I plug RoH? But let me just point out that Mick's come back for ANOTHER paycheck and is going to put over another guy who got a spot on the roster because of his dad. True, that. But when Mick did his transformation to Cactus promo leading up the Orton match, the ham was so thick you could pluck it out of the air, even for wrestling standards. It was horrible.
  8. This just in: Thompson a lying sack of shit. http://www.joystiq.com/entry/1234000743063662/
  9. Yeah, without the helpful name indicator, I can see how you might not get the joke. Other cool injokes - the Simon Belmont enemy in HoD (pretty sure he's a skeletonin Simon's clothes), the Kamen Rider skeleton (Kicker Skeleton) in AoS, and the Lilith/Morrigan style succubi in Aria. But the kung fu maid rules, as does the chainsaw-wielding Frankenstein monster and motorcycle riding skeletons in the 64 Castlevanias. DoS needs to work hard to beat the zombie T-rex, since that's the coolest boss so far. Capcom needs to do a Dino Crisis game with zombie dinosaurs. ...that sounds like an idea Anya might come up with.
  10. On top of that, at any given time they may be plugging 3-4 shows that are going to be on the air soon...
  11. There's plenty of unnecessary bitching going around, but I wonder whose to actually blame here...did they not have enough eps ready yet maybe? And if not, why does CN refuse to show JL except at some God-forsaken hour like 2-3 AM on a weekend? I'm sure that BOONDOCKS will get an uninterrupted run, though. There's a winner of a show for sure.
  12. How do you mean? Genesis got Sparkster as well, but I do know that the games were quite different. I'd heard most people say the Sega one was better, but the SNES one is a lot harder to find so I haven't played it yet. *still waiting on the explanation about Buster's Hidden Treasure* Gens RKA may be it, but I would hope you'd be able to remember said rodent was dressed as a knight. There aren't may good games that match that description, though. I doubt it was Awesome Possum or Bubsy. Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel, perhaps? I'd venture that's a better game than Mr. Nutz (which also stars a squirrel). Zero screens: http://www.consoleclassix.com/gameinfo_zer...uirrel_smc.html Jacques Le Sheets is such an awful name for a villain. Mr. Nutz screens: http://special.sudouest.com/portfolio.php3?id_document=552 Kid Chameleon is underrated, and it's not as hard as its rep claims.
  13. No JLU tonight either. CN.com's schedule is a bitch to try to navigate for showings. Best I can tell is that Bobobobobo will be showing eps until the end of this month, but I can't tell when the next JLU will air. Between then and now we'll be getting 1,000,000,000 Teen Titans reruns.
  14. Could somebody hook me up with an Alien Soldier ROM that actually works? The ones I've d/led leave me with just a red screen, even if Auto-Detect for region is set. A Konami title, I believe, but could you please elaborate on why it's so good? I'm sure I'm not alone in my skepticism.
  15. Hammer is such a sleazebag. Okay, so he's charging an arm and a leg...that hasn't changed. However, whenever I visit him he usually wants to gossip about whether or not Yoko and/or Mina are available. He's 17 years Mina's senior and 10 for Yoko, geez. Of course, he's younger than Julius or Aluc--Arikardo. Julius is a tough old geezer, though. I still got a ways to go to finish. After beating the zombie T-Rex I've been stuck trying to figure out where to go.
  16. Glowing review from 1up: http://www.1up.com/do/reviewPage?cId=3144750&did=1
  17. Chronicles of Narnia: Impressive art direction, decent music, gameplay is boring as heck. Hack n' slash action with poor controls, but darnit it looks kind of cool. Some nice ideas that could stand more polish in the final game. It gets really tedious fighting off enemies when your goal for an area is just to hack through the barrier. Castlevania Curse of Darkness: (covered in the CV thread) Brothers in Arms Earned in Blood: Not my bag, but tutorial at least gave me a loose grasp of the gameplay, controls seem good, no gripes about visuals/sound. What I played was pretty fun, although I can't give an accurate report of how well it stacks up to the previous game/other games in the genre. Ratchet Deadlocked: It doesn't really feel like such a radical departure from the series, just a continuation of the direction UYA was heading. So, craploads more combat, but with an engine that's highly polished after three games. However, the sound is pretty much drowned out by all the explosions and laser blasts. And while it's a demo, your robot squad doesn't seem too terribly effective. Final should be well worth picking up, as I loved this demo even though I miss the platforming. The LANDSTALKER rules. Jak X: Incredible visuals, decent controls, but I spent most of my time playing the game getting utterly obliterated as one guy blasts me, and in one shot leaves me a flaming wreckage. Then I continue with a new vehicle and having lost my lead. Meh. Sly 3: Really good, even though it's nothing radical as sequels go. More controllable characters this time around, very polished gameplay even though though it's not that innovative. The mood, humor, feel makes me think of the Banjo games with a better framerate and less junk collection. Burnout Revenge: You've played this game already. Soul Calibur III: You've pretty much played this game already as well, but the character creation stuff looks great so far. Several new moves seem present as well, but hardly any playables were present, and out of the new ones only Tira was available to play as in the demo (versus only). There's several random custom characters you can view when taking a crack at 1p, great for showing off what the mode can do. Shadow of the Colossus: Well, I sucked at this demo, but it's already got its own thread. The 1st (?) Colossus took tons of hits and I could barely damage it at all. Guess there's a trick to it... Genji Dawn of the Samurai: Okay, I had *no* expectations going into this and was burnt out by this point...but damnit, I'm impressed. Okay, action game with tons of enemies jumping out, you have to hack 'em up/stay alive. However, it feels so incredibly smooth and fun I had to keep playing it for a bit. Plus, knocking guys' torsos right off, leaving their bodies a blood-gushing waist and legs that drop to the ground--what's not to love?
  18. Agreed except about the theme music. He's amusing, but midcard at best at this point in his career.
  19. Jack always keeps you guessing. You don't know if he's just a self righteous scumbag or just batshit insane.
  20. He did the Matrix game. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You mean the one that sucked or the one that suuuuucked? I know of it, because it's why Barkley was removed from NBA Jam. I have a Genesis copy with Barkley in it, though. The sequel had Godzilla dunks.
  21. I did? Not on purpose then. I must have missed your reply. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, you did. Like 80's WWF, but with a Japanese guy getting a huge push. Although I'd love to play that game still. Oh, and until I played CCC, I had no idea that human players could climb Vega's cage in any version of the game.
  22. Anya and I don't really argue anymore. We just have spirited discussions. Then we ramble on about stupid little things in games that make no sense/are a tad annoying, when the simple answer is that the makers of the games didn't really put that much thought into it when they made the game. Multi-part games, no. It's actually somewhat more comforting if you know up front that they've got a set plan rather than making a game that they intended to stand-alone, and only tacked on a sequel to milk a hit. Said worst fears for gaming would be a revival of the "interactive movie" genre, which threatened console gaming when the CD was assumed the next big thing for the biz, at least by Sega. When Sega was banking the SCD's success on said new phenomenon, it was a sad time for the industry. Of course, hardly anything lately has come close to those horrid games. Although Xenosaga is a multi-part RPG with barely any gameplay and ridiculous spans of time where you do more watching than playing. RPGs already are usually less gameplay and more story. However, once in a while one comes out that seems to go too far. Adventure games (as in, the PC kind like Monkey Island) are also kind of hovering between them, but they're relatively harmless because they've such a niche, and the better ones have a charm that you rarely see anymore.
  23. Okay, snapped up the new Jampack...going to at least be able to play the Curse of Darkness demo. ...and...it's much better than LoI. Controllable camera thanks to the right analog, better level design from what I can see (needed an Innocent Devil to glide over a gap, for instance) but nothing ground-breaking thus far. You can choose different weapons for combat, such as the standard broadsword, and a spear I was cutting down tons of enemies with. You can level up just like the Castletroids, and apparently there's tons of ability upgrades available down the line. Okay, gonna have to give this game a chance when the full version is available.
  24. *raises hand* So far haven't played much of GoW, but did fight the giant Hydra. The Jampack with the demo of this game is out. I've got to go to work, but when I come back I'm going to play through a ton of the demos and give my impressions.
  25. *sees your sig* ...um...so WWE/UPN is honestly promoting this week's SD based on that bull****? Stacy a pro-wrestler? My ass.
