  1. BWAHAHAHAHA!!! If any, maybe if we get a Molly DVD, and there's no chance in hell of that happening right now anyway.
  2. Not just anime but RPGs (SquareEnix, I'm looking at you). You have to connect with your target audience somehow. But I agree, bring forth more pissed-off, middle-aged men to save the universe! Well, in Square's earlier RPGs the age of the characters were rather ambiguous. Usually they'd get the SD look but that didn't mean anything as far as age. However, Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, etc seemed be some of the earliest titles fitting that description. (Although you can get around that at least in CT. Frog and Magus're probably in their 20s at least, and Robo could be anywhere from 300-700 years old, technically. You can beat the game with them! ) Then there's Zelda--he's a freakin' little kid except for when becomes a...teenager in Ocarina of Time. Well, there are plenty of exceptions in anime/manga and RPGs, but it happens a lot.
  3. That show is still on the air? Ugh. I honestly don't know of any one who watches much WWE that likes that shitty show (Friends, not SD). That doesn't explain the shitty SDs we've got since WM, though. On holidays and nights where it was pre-empted in some major markets, I think the lowest I've seen was 2.7.
  4. "Dudley Boyz vs. Rob Van Dam and Rey Mysterio The Dudleys come out to a mixed reaction, which turns into a lot of heat as the match goes on. Van Dam comes out to a great pop. His partner is a returning Rey Mysterio, who receives as loud a pop as RVD. The match lasts a good 15 minutes, with Mysterio hitting the 619 toward the end. The match ends as RVD performs his rolling thunder move on Bubba the same time that Mysterio hits a top-rope move. Winners: Rob Van Dam and Rey Mysterio" So, last 20 minutes or so might be worth seeing....
  5. Yeah. Alas the games seemed to be winning out over the characters. A lot of the people I wanted to stay went down too. Oh well. I bear none of the responsibility. Everyone knows I hate Xenogears. I guess its characters weren't too popular with others here, though. Citan's still rather cool, though; better than that *other* Uzuki in the Xeno series. Plus, maybe 3 people here have played Suikoden 2. It's not too hard to figure out why its characters didn't fare so hot in the tourney. It hard to get jazzed up for a character in a game you never played. Anyway, my votes: Kain of Final Fantasy 4 Tir of Suikoden Villian Tourney: Luca Blight of Suikoden 2 Queen Zeal of Chrono Trigger "Anyways, here's your final four for each grouping. Five of Eight characters left in the tourney are from Square-Enix. Now no one bitch about that, because that's what you people voted." Hey, I'm not the one that let Celes and Terra make it this far. At least no one from a FinFan past VI is going to win. "WTF is Death doing here?" He's Death, damnit! Really, he's just a guy doing his job, but in the CV games he takes sides with Drac. No, they're not RPGs, but he was nominated and picked for the tourney. *shrug*
  6. Too bad Samuel L. Jackson is too old for the part...
  7. I haven't seen Honey Cutey--I thought it was Cutie Honey, though? Well, anyway, I wouldn't know. Asked a friend who has seen both:
  8. Why would it be any different? Scorpion is a ghost, too.
  9. Plenty of joshi workers are very hot and many do nude shoots all the time. Sounds right up Vince's alley.
  10. "They made him John Travolta (and not the pulp fiction one either)." Too bad they didn't, but they did it already. It got BRADSHAW over, for cryin' out loud.
  11. I'd go for Bad Blood, too.
  12. *RESURRECTION!* So, Lova Hina does suck. Thought so. Incidentally, I was at the rental place again, noticing what I rented before. Kotetsu was that stupid dubbed thing with the nude fight scene. Avoid that one unless you just want the fanservice. Another I recall seeing was Devil Hunter Yohko. It's...well...eeeeeeeehkay. Basically, it wasn't terrible like I expected it to be. It's kinda-sorta a parody of your typical magical girl anime, with sexual humor thrown and slapsticky stuff. I don't know if I'd go out of my way to acquire the series, but I'd watch it for free maybe.
  13. If you're talking short term like Bull Nakano/Jumping Bomb Angels did, yeah, that's likely. However, WWE's not done that in a long time.
  14. Kinda off topic, but even back in 1995, as a mark who cheered for ANY babyface, I thought the Mabel in Main Event thing sucked, and I didn't even want to see Summerslam 95 until Ramon/HBK was replacing Sid/HBK. I also agree. I actually started watching in 1995, and while I was able to enjoy some of the gimmicks despite their stupidity, since I was just a kid, HBK and Bret Hart made me want to watch. I knew they were good wrestlers, and their matches were always the highlight of the show for me. I didn't know much about selling or as much about psychology, but I knew I liked the smaller wrestlers who did a lot of moves and seemed to be wrestling more realistically than the tall/fat guys who could barely do a damn thing in the ring. I thought Nash was very boring to watch, and I couldn't stand Mabel at all. However, I'll admit to being a mark for Sid. The psycho-twitches and insane ranting he did made me laugh. I guess that's why people liked Warrior, too. When Bret and HBK weren't challenging Diesel for the title, I was hoping Sid would take the title off him, because at least he wasn't as boring.
  15. Thing is, would any semi-respected joshi worker want to be involved in the WWE women's division? It's quite a step down, and you wouldn't be working with anywhere near the caliber of workers or getting a fraction of the respect you would in Japan. I wouldn't blame any of them if they'd turned down offers from WWE.
  16. The only female I remember TAKA having any angle involvement with was Mrs. Yamaguchi-San. It was the basis of his heel turn when it was revealed she was TAKA's sister. Naw, it was a different one. Mrs. Yamaguchi was some 16-year-old model WWE used just for the angle, then they let her go. "Taka's girlfriend" I know appeared on a Heat or two, I believe she modeled the t-shirt, and Taka said that she's EEEVIL just like him. She had rather dark skin like Funaki has. I believe she also was given a message to give to Kai En Tai by the APA before. It's possible it was just an intern or some off-camera employee, too. She didn't speak any Japanese that I recall, just giggled or something like that. I thought it was funny, although it's been done plenty of times before.
  17. They want us to forget that Kevin Nash was involved in one. WE WANT US to forget that Kevin Nash was involved in one. Mick Foley is proud to have taken part in that match. He thought it was good.
  18. Silly--Torrie is your next CW champion.
  19. Whoopie freakin' do. I guess they aren't going to fix up HCTP's gameplay problems. ...it will suck, too. I really, really hope Def Jam Vendetta 2 has a ring, because this year is looking pretty damn sad for wrestling games. Oh well, there's still the new PS2 ULTIMATE MUSCLE!!! Aside from Fire Pro and Big Bang, handheld wrestling games always suck, so I'm not looking forward to it.
  20. "count one more suckling SK's teat" Keith's loved the last several Raws, so I don't know what that's referring to. Yeah, HHH ran in, because he's, you know, the top heel on Raw and wants the title back. Big shock there. WWE's been pushing Benoit hard, and he's got two freakin' titles now. I fail to see how it's all about HBK and HHH right now. If HHH-HBK's rumored match takes place and gets almost all of the advertising and TV buildup, then I'll agree. Right now, though, I fail to see why some one would pick now of all times to bitch about Raw. Smackdown, though, is hopeless right now. Not just Raw--WWE in general. Lita's a better actress than Torrie, at least.
  21. Certainly. Government censorship I disagree with. This is a publicly-traded business that may or may not be acting within their legal right to forbid distribution. Maybe, maybe not. I guess that's up to the courts to decide. Because that's the ONLY possible reason... That's a good point, although it could be a case of a large corporation not knowing what one part of it is doing. You know how corporate red tape is. "Overseas rights have been sold to a number of companies, executives said."
  22. Does this mean the nigh-undefeated Torrie is going to be the next Cruiserweight Champ?
  23. Maybe it really was his girlfriend, or sister, or something--and she just wanted to be on TV for the hell of it at least once. *shrug*
  24. Dean: I don't think they were officially called "Divas" until around 2000/2001. So technically... Besides, none of them were actual long-term contracted wrestlers. They were just brought in for short term stints.
