  1. If he does sign with the Mets, it'll show you what's truly important to him. Gotta do what's best for you, but I think a lot of guys would go where they've got a better shot at winning. And the Mets are the type of team who are really rebuilding, either.
  2. And you can't help but be pissed if you're an Astros fan. They've lost quite a few key players in this off-season without getting a whole lot. You can tell they were counting on Beltran coming back.
  3. Color me surprised. I say either the Cubs or Mets get him at this point. The Yankees have dumped enough funds into their off-season acquisitions, and with the signing of Johnson, they really made their main move of the off-season. As a Cubs fan, I'd like to get him, just because he'd clearly fill some holes and answer some questions that are hounding the team. But at the same time, we're going to have to create one hell of an excuse if we land him and still don't win since he's the answer to the Cubs' problems according to so many people.
  4. As an aside, does anyone know how soon I should look into getting tickets for some of the Cubs/Reds games in Cincy for July? I'd imagine I have time to do so, but with the Cubs' popularity still obvious across the country, you never know.
  5. Nah, he would've. He just wouldn't have caught it.
  6. All I asked was that Beltran get the hell out of the NL Central.
  7. KB Toys is going out of sale. Just snagged George Steele for $3.99. They didn't have any others, though, unfortunately.
  8. Yeah my uncle had to fix something and he thought he might've changed that in the process. Unfortunately, I've since had to replace my hardrive because of a trojan that did too much damage to fix. I'm actually on my girlfriend's computer right now, since I don't have everything set up on mine yet. I love technology, but I'll be damned if I don't periodically have a problem related to it.
  9. I'd imagine few on this board do, since the majority are still living with the 'rents or feeding their paychecks to other outlets. I'd like to have a snazzy one, but I'm content with a nice TV and DVD player for the time being. A HDTV would be just what the doctor ordered, though.
  10. Good luck getting the 16-year-old lad in the club. And Inc, how'd you explain to your roomies AoO's visit? "A guy from the Internet is coming to stay with us for a few days." I don't know if I could pull that one off.
  11. If that's the case, they're perfect for each other.
  12. Creepshow's been that price for at least a year and a half.
  13. If you weren't the most hated poster here before, starting the thread probably clinched it.
  14. Just keep telling yourself the Cubs are going to sign Beltran.
  15. I know the Yanks are all about the quick fix, but why are they so blind that they go out and year-after-year overpay for guys who are coming off what are obviously career years? Big, fat, multi-year deals, too. It boggles the mind and then moreso once the front office is legitimately shocked that this approach doesn't work.
  16. I'll have no money to start gambling with. Yeah, no shit. He is getting married. Although, you won't be wiped clean until she starts pumping out the youngins.
  17. Incredibly old people always win shit like this. I remember last New Year's Eve there was a contest to win a Hummer at this casino some friends and I went to, and some old bitch with an oxygen tank won it. The reaction from all the men in the place was classic, though.
  18. Maybe it's just me, but I thought a lot of the uncut material was terrible. The cat poop scene was awful, not just because of content, but because there's actually an audience who finds this hilarious. Other than that, it's great to finally have the set. I went through some crap to get it (Wal-Mart only had the inferior discs in stock when we went at midnight the night it was released; I had to wait in a nine mile line at Best Buy the next day when I did find it), but it was worth it.
  19. Roy's right. Houston and NY are the only two teams who are willing to overpay for Beltran at this point. He's a stud, but let's face it, whoever gets him is going to overpay for him. With that said, I'd love to see NY take him. Just get him out of the NL Central.
  20. Czech, do you honestly believe that all of the Cubs' problems will be solved with the Beltran signing? I'd love to see him with the Cubs, but I don't believe that it'd make the Cubs a lock for the Series or even postseason. Remember how Nomar was supposed to be the element that turned it all around and send the Cubs to the postseason? Who's to say the same won't happen if Beltran gets signed. I'd be perfectly content if they didn't sign Beltran if it meant solidifying the bullpen and a new approach to offense and minor elements of the game. Sammy's best days are behind him, but I doubt he'll perform as badly as he did in 2004. Add in a healthy Nomar, Derrek Lee, Aramis Ramirez, maturing Corey Patterson and Dubois/Hollandsworth platoon, and you're looking at an offense that many teams would kill for. Then you've got the starting rotation, that, when healthy, is probably one of the most formidable rotations in baseball. Honestly, a Beltran signing would be great, but them working on a few other things would probably do just as good for the team. The success of the Chicago Cubs does not rest of the shoulders of Carlos Beltran.
  21. The Emperor striking him down will god damn lightning surely softened him up a tad.
  22. Actually, considering what the bits involved, I had no problem with him reading from a notebook. It was so complex that I was surprised he was able to get through it cohesively with a notebook.

A couple of very stupid parents obviously.
  24. I'd say the classic stuff began around Season 3 and ran until around Season 9. It began to taper off during the 1998-1999 season, but a lot of the shows were solid. I think the 2000-2001 season was the only one where I thought the show was just awful. Haven't watched it close enough since 2002 to really speak for recent seasons.
  25. All of Carlin's shows are like that, Jobber. I went to one in April and he told us from the outset that he was working on material for his next HBO special. He opened and closed with two very long and complex bits, which he had to read from a notebook just because he didn't have it all down yet. I guess that's the point of such shows, though. Gotta try out new stuff and see what floats and what doesn't. That way, only the best makes the big show.
