Cubs also signed Henry Blanco and let Paul Bako hit the bricks. I'm indifferent, I guess. I don't know a whole lot about Blanco, except he's older than Bako and isn't much of a hitter, but what do you expect from a backup catcher? His throwout rate was a lot better than Bako's last season, too, so whatever.

Thousands of dollars dedicated to a prick. How nice. Of course, I shouldn't talk, since I have quite the extensive Ken Griffey Jr. collection from my card collecting days.

I used to think Sierre Mist was awful, but I actually prefer it now over the others. Lemon-lime pop is pretty dull, whichever way you go, though. But then again, I'm not a huge pop person.

Yeah, I'd imagine it'd be tough to coordinate shoes with a closet full of black t-shirts.

To hell with people who give you suggestions that don't involve killing it. So it's a "defenseless" animal, big deal? Is that your problem? No. Go out to a hardware store in the morning and get one of those new traps that snap shut and can be reused. They're a lot easier than the classic kind and almost impossible to get your finger caught in. If you don't want to kill the thing and it's not that big, they sell glue traps that'll just trap it on there. Of course, that means you're going to have to pick the damn thing up with a live mouse attached, which is why I opt for the snap traps. Honestly, I don't like strange people in my house, why would I want a possibly diseased vermin in here? Regardless of how it got in there, you want to get it out before it starts reproducing. Could be a long winter if it gets that far. Believe me.

Heh, it's Lima Time everytime that broad looks down south.

X is more overrated than III, IMO. The ladder match is a classic, as is Bret vs. Owen (even though I don't love it as much as everyone else does), but that doesn't make it the best Mania ever. Thanks to the insane heights WWE was pushing in recent years, the ladder match comes off as dated to anyone who hasn't been watching longer than five years. I think XVII is a bit overrated, too. The main event was excellent, but stuff like the opener, hardcore match and the HHH vs. Taker match don't age well at all.

Woody Paige on ATH and Woody Paige on Cold Pizza are like two different people.

I wasn't aware any of them were available online.

- I love Stephen A. Smith - I love Max Kellerman - I still think ATH is a good show - I despise college sports, particularly football and basketball - I think football is one of the dullest sports around - I used to think Dusty Baker was a good manager - I thought the Cubs would go to the World Series in 2004 - I had more than one Cubs-related nightmare following their collapse in the 2003 NLCS - At the age of 11, so upset over a Cubs extra-inning loss to the Reds, I tore up a number of my Cubs baseball cards - I think regular season hockey is incredibly dull - Chris Berman makes me laugh - I like most of the hosts of Baseball Tonight - I couldn't confidently tell you what position any non-QB in the NFL plays - I once had an obsession with Ken Griffey Jr., which led to me owning at least 300 of his baseball cards, owning several of his shirts, posters, books, and being a member of his fan club.

Things that were supposed to happen but didn't
Bruiser Chong replied to MikeJordan23's topic in General Wrestling
I believe that match did air as part of the UK telecast but was cut from the US version due to time restraints. I have heard in the past from fans in England that Crush / Repo was cut from the UK version for the same reason. They did air the previously unaired matches at later dates on PTW. -

No, he was never slated to win the title at SS. It would've made sense, but the plan was always to drag it out until WM. He was scheduled to win in there, but Luger's big mouth got him in trouble the night before when he was out bragging that he'd be winning the title the next day. Word got around and Vince quickly changed it to Bret winning the title. There were a lot of crappy matches scheduled on various WWF PPVs that never panned out. The Bulldog was supposed to face the Berzerker at WM VIII. Kamala was supposed to take on Bam Bam Bigelow at WM IX. Tatanka was supposed to face the Berzerker at SS '92, which he did, but not on the actual PPV telecast. When you look at old Survivor Series shows, you see a lot of guys who were supposed to be on the show, but were replaced for whatver reason. Off the top of my head... - Billy Graham was originally on Hogan's team at the first Survivor Series, later being replaced by Murraco. - The JYD, Brian Blair and Don Murraco were all participants of Survivor Series '88 at one point. - Akeem and Barry Windham were slated to participate at Sur. Series '89 but were replaced. - Steamboat, Big Bully and Jim Neidhart were all originally involved in an eight-man match, but were ultimately replaced. And before Nailz went and got himself fired in late 1992 / early 1993, he was being prepped for a program with the Undertaker, which would've involved an electric chair match. -
XX had to be one of the most boring shows I've ever seen in my life. Maybe it was because I was in a cramped three-room apartment with a bunch of friends, but by time the big matches began to roll around, I couldn't wait to go home. My personal favorites include IV, VI, VII and VIII. Only two of those are considered to be good shows, but for various reasons, I really like them all. III's good, but there is a lot of filler there and it probably wouldn't be remembered as such a great show were it not for them being in the Silverdome.

I keep thinking I'm going to click on this thread and see some news or something.

Anyone who didn't buy Seinfeld today sucks.

Woman steals inflatable Santa, Snowman and Turkey
Bruiser Chong replied to Rob E Dangerously's topic in General Chat
Oh don't act like none of you haven't ever been tempted to steal a 12-foot inflatable Santa for your front yard. -
No. Everything was calmed down until the drunk jackass decided to get his 15 minutes of fame.
-
Artest is done for the season.

What he said. Although, I don't hate the show, but I do get annoyed by it quickly.

You don't think they deserve rights granted to straight people based simply on their sexual orientation. What do you call that? That's like saying black people shouldn't be allowed to get married because they're not white. Neither minority can control the "detriment" for which they're oppressed, so to hold those factors against them in any capacity is quite prejudice. But enough about stuff covered three weeks ago... Then dammit, why didn't you tell Inc. sooner instead of letting him think you were something you really weren't?!
-
Becoming a gay-hating Republican was the worst thing Czech could've ever done to his relationship with Inc.

I'm sarcastic as hell, but dabble in the absurd, as well, just so I don't become stagnant or come off as too negative. I get the sarcastic from my mom and her family. Being raised on shows like Seinfeld certainly didn't curtail that development, either.

It's all about personal taste, my brother. Even if you let us know specifically which genres you're interested in, tastes will vary. I love to laugh and like to think I have a great sense of humor, but I'll probably never own or even rent a Monty Python DVD. Why? Because I don't think it's funny. Judging from what you've got and what's on tap for you, I'd imagine you're more of a mainstream guy, so I probably can't help you a whole lot, since I tend to think most stuff that comes out from Hollywood is junk. Regardless, here are some additions I think virtually anyone should make: Television - Aqua Teen Hunger Force Vol. 1-3: This will most likely take anyone an episode or two to really begin to get what it's all about. It'll come off as pointless the first time or two, but by the end of the first disc, you'll be a lifelong fan. I haven't found anyone who's actually hated the show. - Batman: TAS: Now, IIRC, you're a video game guy, so comics should go hand-in-hand. This is the best animated comic-based show ever. Period. This first volume is absolutely packed with classic episodes. It may seem a bit overwhelming at first, but you'll breeze through this set so quickly, January and the second volume won't come soon enough. - Sanford & Son Season 1-2: The show's a bit dated at times, but the first two seasons are great viewing. Pay some tribute to history here, as this was more or less the first Black TV series out there. After a while, the stories start to resemble one another too much, but it's fresh all the way through the first two seasons. Subsequent seasons are okay, but the first two are essential. - The Simpsons Season 1-4: I don't wanna hear any crap about Family Guy. I love that series, too, but most overlook that the Simpsons was solid or better for at least a decade before they went into cruise control. The first two seasons will appeal to purists and a small handful only, but everything after that should be fair game for comedy fans. There's no way you can have a good sense of humor and an appreciation for pop and higher culture and not at least appreciate what this show brings to the table. Comedy Now you says ya likes to laugh. I think you need some stand-up in there then. Tastes will vary, of course, but here are a couple of stand-up DVDs that are universally approved: - Kevin James - Sweat the Small Stuff: One of my favorite stand-up specials ever and it remains one of the more fresh specials, since it avoids dated material. Everyone I've shown it to has loved it. - Dave Chappelle - Killin' Them Softly: I'm surprisingly not a huge fan of his show, but I've been a supporter of Dave since he broke onto the scene during the mid-90s. This is a true classic, with some bits and pieces that still crack me up even though I've seen it at least 50 times since it debuted back in 2000. Now, comedy in terms of film is a slippery slope. This is one of the trickier genres, simply because the idea of what's funny can be vastly different between people. Nevertheless, here are a few titles you should add: - American Pie: Just the original. If you like the first, you'll prolly like the other two, but this one is actually a strong piece of comedy with a message. Sure it's a trite one, but it still holds up. - The Big Lebowski: A bit strange for some people's taste, but give this one a chance and this'll become a favorite in your collection. - The Breakfast Club: I love '80s flicks (mainly the teen comedies), so I'm probably biased, but this is still one damn fine film that delivers a quality script and no shortage of laughs. - Diner: People often overlook this one, but it's quite the sleeper. Tons of laughs, a great cast and just a fun couple of hours. If by chance you're a Seinfeld fan, this will be worth a look, since it follows a similar formula. - Life: Even if you're not a fan of so-called urban comedies, this one is particulary good. Best yet, it's cheap as hell already without the DDD discount. - Next Friday: I don't know why, but this is my favorite of the trilogy. All three are worth watching, but this comes off as the funniest. Now, since I'm running a bit long here, I'll just list the rest of the flicks I personally enjoy a lot and think everyone should check out. If need be, I'll be back to justify particular selections, since I know some will be questioned. Nevertheless... - 12 Angry Men - 25th Hour - All About Eve - American Beauty - Boogie Nights - Boyz 'n the Hood - Casablanca - Citizen Kane - Glengary Glen Ross - Leon the Professional (may wanna hold off for the SE) - Ocean's 11 (original) - RoboCop Trilogy - Rosemary's Baby - Star Wars Trilogy Like I mentioned earlier, you seem to have a fairly mainstream taste, so I don't know how many of these will hold appeal to you, but I think they've all got qualities that make them worth checking out.

I'm down for all three. The IC title release is most likely from the Columbia House collection, as the only CV release on the subject came out in 1987.
