Goodell considered a suspension, but.....
-
The 1st round is just 31 picks, I guess. Both Belichick (losing roughly a quarter of his salary and having his past accomplishments put into question) and the team (losing money and high draft pick(s)) get punished as harshly as the situation warrants. Sure, there's a bunch of accusations, but only this situation had actual tangible evidence to go along with it and Goddell had to just rule on that and forget everything else. Tough but fair. Now does anyone have any questions about the Chargers? EDIT: Belichick's statement on the ruling:

He didn't win the game, so he sucks. I think this brings the magic number to 13. Knock it down to single digits by the end of the weekend and finish this off already.
-
Which #1? The one they got from SF or the one they normally get? A pretty fair punishment. EDIT: Perhaps they'll lose the higher of the two picks, depending on how everything falls. EDIT 2: ESPN.com says it will be a 1st if they make the playoffs or a 2nd AND 3rd rounder if they do not.

Oh man, I do NOT need to see the words "Viagra" and "Scott Keith" in the same hemisphere. *Unzips pants* ....BONZO GONZO!

That was when they actually had a viable competitor. They don't have that now, so while this year has been horrendous from a PR standpoint, it probably won't be a disaster financially. And that's what really counts to any business.

I'm going with the Saints this week. Last week they just fell apart in the 2nd half (maybe Indy borrowed Matt Estrella for the game) and Tampa is still just terrible.
-
I did a double take when I saw that price. CD Universe has the release date as November 15th, so it's probably either the Tuesday before or after Thanksgiving.
-
Don't teams make those adjustments every week? If you are using the same signals over and over, of course the opponent is going to pick up on them, camera or no camera, so it behooves teams to mix in their signals to keep people on their toes. It'll be either a hefty fine/1-2 game suspension for Belichick, or a 3rd rounder.

What happens to any draft picks that could be forefited? Do they go to the Jets or are they just skipped when the draft comes around? They haven't been caught 5 times, they've been caught once and "suspected" of others (which probably can't be proven or we would have heard about it already). I read that Dolphin players last year admitted that they listened to tapes of Brady to get his snapcount down. What NE did was over the line, but teams are going to find every advantage they can for a game and Goodell can't prevent every instance if it happening.
-
If this is true, New England deserves to lose a draft pick or be fined heavily. BUT, if the Jets were too dumb not to mix in false signals like they do in college and in baseball, then they brought it on themselves. Why do you think pitchers and catchers cover their mouths with their gloves during meetings and catchers change signals when a runner is on 2nd? EVERYONE tries to steal signs/signals/plays in pro sports, I really doubt anyone would say otherwise. This isn't some unprecidented ploy by the Evil Genius to put another one over on the league like some people seem to think it is.

Andy Pettite won MLB's Clutch Performer of the Month Award for August. In other news, MLB is actually giving out awards for clutchiness now.

Losing to a divisional opponent to start things off is not a good thing. I'm not picking the Falcons again this year.
-
Let's hope Boston will actually show up to this Yankee series and all but seal the division. The AL Wild Card is close-ish, though both Seattle and Detroit are fading quickly.

Damn, Bourne Ultimatum still has legs. It's been out, what, two months almost?

That'll knock out half the TSM Survivor pool (including me), so let's start pounding these guys into the turf, kthnx.

Chad Pennington can't get back to his feet after a sack and the Jets fans cheer. Classy.

Man, I wish they could have kept most of the deleted scenes in the episodes. 99% of them are pure gold. (In Beach Games, during the hot dog eating contest) MICHAEL: Come on Phyllis, just dip it in the water to make it easier to slide down your gullet. EVERYONE (without missing a beat): That's what she said. MICHAEL: No, no, no, no!

I need my Gus fix sometime this season. I don't want to wait until March Madness.

CBS' smokes them both. I see Cowher bleached his teeth for the occasion.

Nice to see that Jeff Triplett is still earning that title of Worst Referee in the League. What the hell was that "illegal touching of the ball within 5 yards" call on that punt? Motivated, Willing To Play Randy Moss is going to be fun as hell to watch.

I recently moved down from the second-tier of digital channels to the Sports and Entertainment package (which includes NFL Network). A lot of the digital channels I had I rarely watched (if I watched them at all), but I do miss having all the Encore channels and Encore on Demand. I haven't had much of a problem with the internet or phone services either and them including products like Rhapsody and McAfee security programs free is really good.
