I have yet to come across a Savage / Perfect match, let alone one that was televised. Savage / Taker had matches when Savage was subbing for Warrior in 91 but those didn't air.

I believe that match did air as part of the UK telecast but was cut from the US version due to time restraints. I have heard in the past from fans in England that Crush / Repo was cut from the UK version for the same reason.

LOD / Money Inc was never scheduled for WrestleMania. Money Inc weren't even regarded as a full time team until they won the straps and LOD were off the road completely between losing the belts and appearing at WrestleMania. Their tag match at Summer Slam was supposed to be for the belts. Maybe that's what you were thinking of?

I believe he had a heated feud with Dr. Death Steve Williams in one of the smaller feds during that timeframe.

I would be shocked if Hogan vs. Flair wasn't planned for WrestleMania from Day 1 that Flair was with the company. That was the obvious money match. I think the plans officially changed right before the Royal Rumble, which would explain the Hogan / Sid confrontation after the match. So by the time Hogan was named on TV as the top contender, the plan was just to swerve the fans a week or two later and change the card as a result of the SNME tag match. From what I've read on RSPW, the Capital Centre in Landover, MD was a rumored site for Summer Slam. That was basically the default DC arena. They ended up doing a TV taping there just days after the PPV.

Is it just me or does "fatal four way" imply that it's a one-fall match? Everyone does it, even the WWE. But instead of fatal four-way, isn't it just more appropriate to call it an elimination match?

I see why. It's because we're bringing to light the fact Germany, France, and Russia provided Saddam with weapons in exchange for oil even after we went to war with Iraq. Way not to be corrupt. I love how foreign countries enjoy mentioning all the 'bad' we've done in the world while completely ignoring the good. Yeah, ok, so some civilians died during firefights in Iraq. Would you prefer a small percentage died that way or would you have thousands more die execution style and be dumped into a mass grave? Apparently you and the rest of the world choose the latter. Kudos to Vince for letting two breakout stars, who spent much of the year at midcard status, go out there for nearly a half hour and prove to the world why they should be considered two of the best in the world. 2.) None really come to mind as being 'favorites' but I'll go with Triple H vs. Goldberg from last year simply because Triple H jobbed in the rematch, which few predicted would happen. 5.) Favorite segment? I have a lot but I'll stick with this one from the opening to the 1989 edition ... The Undertaker and Steve Austin are probably Republicans also. I don't know about Eddie Guerrero. Don't Latino people love Bush up somethin' fierce? That mostly just applies to Ricky Martin and hispanics from Texas.

The first one I saw on pay-per-view was 93. I spent that whole day at school excited about going home that night and watching the show. I remember the announcers often throwing in reminders like "If you're going out of town for the holiday, call ahead and make sure you can order it where you're going." I miss the Thanksgiving association, whether it be the night before or the night of, but I understand why they stopped doing it. If you look at the pro wrestling industry from the 70s or 80s, territories - the WWF included - would often hold shows on holidays. Thanksgiving, New Years Day, sometimes even Christmas. While it makes for a memorable show, I'm sure the wrestlers would rather be home with their families than working the same match they've been working for six weeks straight.

1) To make Taker a main eventer with a world title reign to his credit as well as to boost the buyrate of Tuesday in Texas. They had to do something for people to watch 2 pay-per-views in a week. 2) I don't know but I doubt Bret would have been main eventing. The only reason he got the belt from Flair is because Vince didn't have any other logical options at the time. If Warrior had stayed around, Vince wouldn't have had to focus all his energies on making Bret a top star.

I've seen that and would agree that it's probably one of the best Yoko matches anyone will find. I think even Meltzer rated it somewhat high. Bret is the reason I went from a casual fan that would sometimes watch Superstars to a die-hard that would put down $220 for a floor seat at WrestleMania. I've said for years that my favorite match, based largely on nostalgia, is Bret vs. Davey Boy at Wembley. The buildup to that match solidified me as a fan, the match itself cemented it. I love his early singles matches against the likes of Steamboat, Dibiase, Savage, Martel, etc.

If Dave is just referring to 02-04, then that's correct. But Flair and Piper had a series of cage matches in 92. I believe Flair even had a number of handicap cage matches with he and Show facing Austin in 02 ... so he's wrong either way.
